Modconn revisited? A memorial to Shannon Laratt
I met Shannon when he was around 20 while he was living in Philadelphia, about a year after I discovered BME in its infancy. Shannon had a short Subincision and mine was about ½ way to the base. A piercer of some renown who was his roommate at the time introduced me And we all compared subs. At any rate we became friendly and later, after BME developed from a site with about 70-80 images and less members to what would become the best and most widely known site of its kind.
Shannon gave so much to all of us who are modified, even those who have never heard of him. Most of us, myself included would have never known of modification if it weren’t for Shannon. I was fortunate to have attended ModconnII and it was the most wonderful thing I ever did. It was so affirming and filled with such a sense of community and love. Not only that, Shannon paid for everything, from the venue to food. He got the best practioners to perform what had to have been over a hundred procedures gratis.
Shannon gave so much to all of us and it’s time to honor him in a way he would have loved so I’m putting the idea out there to see if there are others who would be interested.
Please reblog this, even if you wouldn’t want to attend, I’d like to have as many as possible see it.
Thanks,
John
From one of my closest friends.
