“ I’m sure your momma would be disappointed in that .” Not that she cared either way . “ Any statistic on vampires ?” Pam raised an eyebrow in amusement . After all , a vampire is likelier to kill than a cork or shark together .
Stiles recoiled slightly. It’d only been a few years since the existence of vampires came to light; it still hadn’t sunken in for him. Especially the part where a good chunk of the horrible things that occur in Bon Temps could be traced to something a vampire did. It kinda sucked the fun out of mystery-solving, no pun intended. “Are you one of them, Miss?”
“was that an invitation?“ liv looked up with a flirtatious smile at stiles as she took off her gloves that she was using. she was used to stiles barging in the animal clinic either with scott in tow or to meet up with scott. this was one of the rare times that scott wasn’t around and liv took the opportunity to mess with him. “ what’s the rush, stilinski? you just came in,” she asked as she leaned back on the counters, her hands grabbing the counter’s edge and staring at stiles with a little smirk aimed at him. she could guess why he was in a hurry to leave but liv wanted to see how long she could make him stay.
“LIV...,” stiles sputtered out amid nervous laughter. how many times would he need to make clear that her jokingly flirting with him put him at risk of fainting on the spot? after he uttered a series of incoherent noises, he said, “well... you know why i’m in a hurry! don’t make me explain it to you. really gotta go now.”
one shy year of being 21. did anyone even pay attention to that rule? he figured since tyler probably didn’t, none of the other youngsters did. “not being able to legally do something and doing it are two separate things. your father is a sheriff, you probably know your way around the law.” just like a mayor’s son would. nothing would have surprised richard anymore. “that’s exactly why i think you would get into trouble. you have someone on the inside to get you off scotch free.”
stiles let out a mix of a snort and a laugh at that last sentence. “my dad definitely wouldn’t want to let me get away with mischief, sir.” that wasn’t a lie, at least. his dad was tired of his antics, but he always tried to find ways to still do them. “but if you’re really that determined to ride in the back of a beat-up old jeep, then be my guest. hope you know i’m a BIG fan of riding into potholes, rather than swerving. i’m a real adventure seeker, you know? it’s gonna be a very bumpy ride and that’s a promise.”
abigail’s eyes moved to meet the male’s darker ones, her head tilted to the side. how she ended sitting just there was just a question that she would not know how to answer. “ sure ” she mused, shrugging her shoulders at his words, it wasn’t as if she really cared. yet, she knew there was something else that the male wasn’t really expressing, at least not with words. “ yeah … going to bed ? ” she asked sarcastically. “ you’re so funny … you can’t lie ” she said mockingly. “ you should try to get better at it, to be honest ”
“wow, really? i think most of the time i’m pretty convincing.” well, actually... he knew that most people just didn’t want to deal with his bullshit. “you’re not gonna bother me about it, though, are you?”
“i know i’m newish around these parts, but i’m pretty sure there are no houses in that direction. unless you live in the middle of nowhere.” the only reason ivan knew was because he was still doing some investigating on his own. a woman was found dead and had marks on her? that sounded like just the case he was used to reporting on and his crime board had some empty spaces. “i could use an assistant if you need a reason to be out late at night.” should he be encouraging this? he shrugged, answering his own question. “my cameraman was too scared to come out tonight.”
“hey, i’m nobody’s assistant,” demurred stiles. “but fine. i guess YOU could tag along.” with an exaggerated air of confidence, he said impatiently, “let’s go!”
pam had been coming back from running an errand when she raised an eyebrow at the human male wandering about the woods . “It’s a little dangerous to be out here alone . Didn’t your mother teach you not to do anything stupid .”
“she sure did. stupidity’s strictly my own,” he replied. he didn’t like the mention of his mother, of course, but it was no use to lash out at a stranger for her innocently insensitive comment. “ah, everything’s dangerous. champagne corks are statistically likelier to kill you than sharks.”
“do you think i’m stupid?” with the speech, mayor lockwood did his best to remain calm and keep face to the public. talking to stiles however seemed to strip him away from all of that. “i know you and your little type.” he mainly just meant young adults. “if you’re smarter than my son you’re not going to run into the forests and start drinking or anything.” he looked around the streets to see if he could spot the sheriff. “i’m sure your father doesn’t need that call tonight, right? has a lot on his plate already.”
the mayor would really not like an honest answer from stiles. instead, stiles kept his mouth shut as he talked and plastered that wry smile on his face. “sir! i’m 20 years old. i can’t legally drink yet in our state, the beautiful state of louisiana.” his sarcasm was almost searing. well, he really didn’t drink ( that much ), but only because he didn’t need alcohol to get into ill-advised mischief. “‘course. he’s the sheriff, i’m his son. i definitely wouldn’t get into trouble, would i?”
“yeah, i was just about to go to BED,” he says. anyone who knows stiles would know he’s lying through his teeth, though. he’s prone to insomnia anyway. but beyond that, he can’t resist a good mystery like this one. it’s dangerous to go out right now, they say. especially alone. well, he was gonna drag scott into this but couldn’t find his friend. you can’t say he didn’t take some measure of precaution, right? it just so happens that he’s attempting to poke around, late at night, alone. “see you later.”
location : around bon temps fire department
open to : anyone
“ with the recent news we want to make sure that everyone stays safe. travel in groups or pairs and don’t go out too late at night. to the people affected by this great tragedy, know that everyone in the town is working endlessly to get some answers. once again, if you have any information, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or my assistant. ” the end of the speech felt more rehearsed than anything else, but at the mayor he felt like he had to get in front of this. for those that knew of the supernatural world and that he was aware of it, his distaste of vampires was obvious. this only added fuel to the fire, but they needed to make sure it didn’t make the town look bad. he was all for apperance.
the mayor stepped down from the podium and went over to someone on the side of the crowd. “ how are you doing with all of this ? ” his face looked concerned, features somewhat scrunched up and brows raised. whether that was genuine or not always depending on the other person. “ if there’s anything you need at this time, just say the word and i’ll try to make it happen. ” he was supposedly a mayor of his people, but he preferred to be it when everything was running smoothly. “ have you had anything to eat or drink lately ? we can go grab a bite. ”
young man tried not to crack a smile as mayor lockwood spoke to him. not the time, not the place, stiles was aware. but he never held much esteem for authority figures, even with his dad. ( especially with his dad. ) “no thanks, sir.” his tall, lanky frame swayed slightly, as if hardly able to contain his fascination towards laura hale’s fresh death. “i’m sure you’re all busy right now. i’ll go by myself.” he added wryly, “i’m a big boy.”
[ donny pangilinan & he/him & cis man ] : my oh my, is that MIECZYSLAW “ STILES “ STILINSKI in bon temps ? what the hell are they up to hanging around BON TEMPS COLLEGE listening to SLEEP PARALYSIS by GABRIEL BRUCE when they should be doing whatever a COLLEGE STUDENT does ? between you and i, the 20 year old HUMAN is avoided for acting ACERBIC, but whenever they let their INCISIVE side shine through people flock to them. i guess they’re in town because HE GREW UP HERE. explains some of it, though i can’t help but wonder if there’s more to a CHUNKY BLUE JEEP, CHESS PIECES AS WEAPONS IN BATTLE story.
stiles is the son of noah stilinski and claudia stilinski (née tayag). they’re both of kapampangan filipino heritage, but my headcanon for why stiles has a polish name + surname is that noah was adopted by polish parents. part of the reason the guy fell so hard for claudia is probably that claudia helped him reconnect with kapampangan culture.
anyway, claudia loved stiles very much. his jeep is his mom’s; she wanted him to have it when he grew old enough to drive. but he lost his mother to dementia. shortly before her death, her delusions got so bad that she believed that stiles was trying to kill her.
this is a lot to endure for anyone, but especially so for a child. claudia even tried to attack him once, due to her paranoia. he was alone when he watched her die in the hospital. (noah was attending to a dying woman while he was on the job.)
as a result of his experiences with his mom, stiles fears that he is a dangerous person. he has a manipulative, cunning side. but he’s not a bad person. he fears he’s going to hurt others, though, because of his mother being paranoid around him when she was sick.
another result of his experiences with his mom (particularly the time she tried to attack him) is that he’s very quick to go into fight-or-flight mode. he’s always on the defense.
stiles is intelligent but finds it hard to focus. he’s been diagnosed with adhd but people tend to forget/dismiss that fact.
of course, scott mccall’s bestie!
has been in love with lydia martin since forever.
fascinated by morbid stuff.
highly sarcastic.
a detective in the making. he’s currently studying criminology.
first language is american english but he’s familiar with kapampangan, thanks to his mom. he’s better at understanding it than he is at speaking it, though.
