I wanted to ask you, what are your artistic influences? Which shows or comics or artists have had a big impact on your art?

i love this question! i honestly grew up with a lot of north american cartoons. I especially loved cartoon network shows like Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff girls and such growing up. One of my biggest influences that got me drawing in general as a kid was Monster Allergy and Adventure Time, actually. I LOVED (and still love) these series.

As for comics, I grew up with webcomics in ye old days of Smackjeeves where every comic was hosted on its own site. I seriously loved comics by Sarah Mensinga, TLOZ: Demon Road by Fancy Owl/Stephan McGowan, and BFF by Mickey Quinn. SO GOOD!!!! They were a serious gamechanger for me that got me into comics in the first place ;0; I honestly didn't get into anime and manga until MUCH later in life around the end of high school/early college years. A lot of my more recent inspiration and taste comes from that. But some of my favourites that really changed the game for me were Houseki no Kuni, Mob Psycho 100, and FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHERHOOD. I had a HUGE FMA phase. It was my breakthrough anime.

Thanks for asking! I sometimes wonder if my influences shine through in my work somehow. I fear I missed out on some major "art kid" fandoms and inspirations, but we all end up in the same place at the end of the day (being a weeb).

You probably get asks like this all the time, but I saw your art for Besties Work it Out and Find Their Groove at my local bookstore, and thought your artstyle was super sweet! Then the other day I stumbled on your Great Ace Attorney, Octopath, and Triangle Strategy fanarts (love ALL those games by the way), and didn't realize you were the same artist for both :0 Love all your art, and looking forward to more in the future, at your own pace of course!

I don't actually get asks like this all the time, so that makes this all the more sweeter. Thank you for liking both my published work and my personal work! It really means a lot to hear it T_T I often keep my "pro" work separate for a lot of reasons, but it makes me so happy that someone out there enjoys both ahh! Thank you for the kind words. All those games are such a big source of joy to me. It makes me happy to share that joy with others too!!

do you (or do you ever plan to) sell prints?

Thank you for your interest!! I only sell prints in person at local conventions. I just don't have the mental spoons to run an online store, and prints are particularly difficult to mail. But thank you for asking! I usually post about cons I make it to on my instagram and twit :3

Hello, I just finished reading your comic Intercosmic and I can't help myself and ask will you ever come back to it? The story became really interesting and I just need to know what will happened next (and what happened before). I absolutely love the art and characters, and I would love to see the end of Lunik and Sol story.

oh wow!! Thank you SO SO much for reading Intercosmic and enjoying it thus far! I cannot express just how happy it makes me to hear that as the story and characters mean so much to me!

And oh gosh, thank you for asking! In all truth, Intercosmic is officially discontinued as of last year. I won't get into details, but I have a rather complicated relationship to it. I drew it in a rather... messy...time of my life. Time passed. Things changed. Life happened. Etc. But I still keep it so close to my chest. So thank you for enjoying what does exist of it thus far. It always warms my heart to hear it!

I have no real plans to ever get back to the webcomic. Though, I would love to revisit or revise Lunik and Sol's story in a new and unexpected way, perhaps :3 I still love them so much! They're still running on the hamster wheel in my brain.

You'll still see them around, just not exactly the same as they were. Perhaps even... better? Or worse? hahah! But truly, thank you for asking. I can't stress how meaningful it is to hear that you read it and found it enjoyable. That enough makes all of it more than worth it! <3 <3 I hope you'll enjoy what exists of them when they come back around.

very VERY belated and forgot to post this in Sept but happy bappy to Shen Qingqiu. I drew this in celebration (it was the 21st btw)!

His husband just spent the last 3 weeks trying to perfect a modern cake recipe in ancient China. SQQ just woke up from his 12 hour beauty nap. love that for them!

Hello! I LOVE your illustrations and read both your Besties books, and I know it said you used Clip Studio Paint in the back of the book. I was wondering what brush you use for lineart and sketching, because it looks really cool. I animate as a hobby and struggle with finding good brushes to use in Clip Studio. Thanks! (:

Oh WOW! Thanks for enjoying my published work! it means a lot when people find my work through my books T_T

And yes! I use Clip Studio Paint exclusively to draw everything. As for the Besties brush, I'm so glad you like it! It's actually a brush I made specifically for Besties so I'm not at liberty to share it just yet (might have to check the legal stuff). Otherwise, I'm ALL for sharing brushes.

However, I used the DAUB inker pack as a base for developing the brush, specifically the DAUB Stone-Aged Inker. You can buy the pack of them directly from DAUB here! They've got a wide variety of CSP brushes that are GREAT for experimenting and finding what works for you :) If you're referring to the brush I use for personal work, that's also a brush I developed BUT it's based off the Ratty Inker from Kyle's Brush Pack! I'm happy to share that one since I love it and it's my baby that I use for everything else.

I was looking at your art and I have to say that it gives dreamworks meets disney vibes esp tha chaos and fun in each of the characters. I was wondering if yo ever drew sj because i wonder how his particular personality would be seen in your art style.

Oh wow, thank you so much!! That means a lot. I come from an animation background so the comparison makes a lot of sense!! <3 But thank you for liking the energy of my drawings. I love drawing exaggerated expressions and I'm glad it shows!

As for Shen Jiu! I don't think I've drawn him much other than to compare to Shen Yuan but I'll have to do it sometime soon. I've got such a specific vision in mind for him too. So, soon :> thanks for the request!
