I donāt know how to be the person I want to be. The worst part is waking up in the mornings or laying down at night, knowing I have to live with the things that i did, and the things that I let happen. I have to live with the person I was, and I donāt want to.Ā

As writers, we need to see visual images and artists create poetry in colors, shapes, paints, ink, many different mediums...they can say what we say in words through images.Ā
We can also loose ourselves in images, get carried away, we can feel, understood, connected or inspired.
This is important to have an understanding between minds. It helps us grow as writers and as people.

āā¦āheās mean to you because he likes you.ā ā¦The marks of these words last beyond oneās youth. Little girls who were told to love boys who were mean to them will often grow up to be women who accept physical and emotional abuse as affection. Words like this have so much meaning behind them. I had to learn through many bad experiences that love isnāt nervousness and unkind words, itās comfort and contentedness. I only wish someone had told me that when I was younger. Itās amazing how much effect simple words can have. You would never tell an abuse victim 'heās mean to you because he likes you.' So letās not do the same with children.ā

I saw the movie Inside Out with my kids months ago and meant to write something about how hard and great it was to see such an accurate depiction of depression, made so lucid and visual. Many people think that to ...... read more
Even though writing is difficult, personally it became a way for me to speak my mind and has helped me get through many difficulties. Sometimes it is truly helpful to create. As at times writing can be a door or an exit for the mind.Ā
This is such a beautiful article on author Padma Viswanathanās struggle with depression and how writing saved her life. I recommend taking the time to read. Here are few great quotes from her article:Ā
