Article Reading Tip!
I had always had trouble remembering where I was when I was reading papers, what the point of that paragraph was, how this contributed to the paper or article etc and I've finally discovered the solution which seemed so obvious.
Before reading the full paper, read the intro/abstract and conclusion first (which most people already do), but before getting to the bulk, take note of all of the headings and subheadings and keep it with you as you read through the rest of the paper. For example:
Name of Paper
1. Heading 1
1. 1. Subheading 1
1. 2. Subheading 2
1.3. Subheading 3
2. Heading 2
2. 1. Subheading 1
2. 2. Subheading 2
2.3. Subheading 3
Tumblr formatting doesn't really lend to this, but the idea is clear. It seems so obvious to me now, and I'm sure it's one of those things that a lot of people just know to do that I never quite realised but it has changed the game for me! Even with the added time of taking the notes, I still get through papers quicker and more effectively!
