I’m back!

So I’ve been away for a few months, and neglected this a bit, but don’t worry I haven’t given up I am back.

I see new followers and likes. I just want to say thank you for checking out my blog and from now on I will be posting consistently. Bear with me whilst I set up a post schedule and get back to my study schedule.

I am going to ask my fiancé’s mum if she has any free time to tutor me, because not having anyone to speak to has really set me back and I want to get over this learning block.

Everything is getting back on track and I’m super excited to continue sharing my journey learning Polish!

Study materials 📚💿🎬🎶

The materials I am currently using are:

Polishpod101.com absolute beginner course with their premium plus subscription, Polish for dummies textbook and BBC Polish phrasebook and dictionary

I use the innovative language to study the polishpod101 absolute beginner course and I have found it incredibly helpful. I was feeling a bit demotivated after two weeks of illness put my studies on hold, but my assigned tutor has really helped me get back into studying. She gave me a lesson structure to use which can be applied to any future lessons and the corrections have been so useful. I am still trying it out but so far this is my favourite resource, I am unsure how it is for other levels as I have not yet reached them. I paid around £36 or $47 for 1 month, but considering the cost of lessons or an in person tutor I think that is very reasonable.

I started out using the Polish for dummies textbook but found I lost motivation quite quickly, I haven’t tried the audio cd, so maybe that is what made it feel lacking. It’s a decent sized textbook and it covers a lot of useful things. I may return to it for revision as it is more in depth than audio lessons. I purchased the textbook from Amazon for about £13 which considering the length is a really good price.

The final recourse is the phrasebook/dictionary, I have not gotten much use of this as I’m not at a stage where I do much writing but I think it will be really useful for me as I progress and for learning vocabulary. I also bought that from Amazon and it’s currently £4.49.

I also have a beginner to intermediate level textbook but I am not yet at the level to use it, so I am unsure if it’s a good resource. It is the teach yourself complete Polish beginner to intermediate level textbook.

I supplement my studies with Duolingo, Drops and Polish language specific apps along with Google for any queries before checking with my tutor.

My future mother in law has offered to teach me but I am still overcoming my speaking anxiety. I sometimes ask my fiancé for help with little bits which is a small step in the right direction though.

I’ve also been really enjoying listening to Polish music for immersion.

Reasons why I am studying Polish!

I’m engaged to a Polish man and want to be able to communicate with his family.

Poland is an option for where we will raise our future family.

I wanted a new challenge and Polish is unlike any language I have ever studied (not counting my brief look into Russian).

In the next 10 years (when I am 30), my biggest personal goal is to reach polyglot status and to be proficient in 10 new languages.

To expand my knowledge and be able to help others do the same.
