I PASSED MY FINAL PART!
Finally scheduled my last section. My 18 months got extended due to covid to June 30. I’m just going to sit every two weeks until I pass. Ready for this to be over.
BEC passed!!! Now just have to take REG for the second time and then hopefully I will be DONE.
8:04 am | posting a picture of my messy study space from two days ago cause let’s be real.. it doesn’t look good there most of the time #energydrinkalways - IG
Back at it - REG on 7/22
I took a big break with COVID -- as I’m sure many of us studying for the CPA did -- the uncertainty of when testing centers were going to open again made it really difficult for me to find the motivation to study.
Now I am right back at it! I scheduled REG for July 22nd. I gotta say, REG is my least favorite. Tax is so DENSE and BORING to me. Multicolored pens for notetaking help.
Hello. I am a senior majoring in accounting and I plan begin my CPA exam journey soon. Can you recommend any tips or resources to begging studying? Thanks!
I use Wiley CPA excel and really like it. There are videos and a study guide for each lesson and a flash card bank app for your phone. There is also a built in exam planner that will map out what your study schedule should be based on your test date.Â
I have a lot of friends who used Becker and really liked it as well.Â
I would say you can’t really go wrong with most of the reputable study guides. What you really want to look for are ones that have a lot of practice questions!
Best of luck studying my friend, I am sure you will do great :)
Hi! Can I ask for some advice? I am studying for my FAR retake. I took it once but I was only halfway through the material so I failed. How did you get through that much material efficiently?
Hi! I am sorry for the delayed response here :)Â
I really tried to prioritize learning the hardest things first (leases, pensions, government etc.) and saved the easier stuff for last. I also made a study schedule for myself for what specific lessons I was going to get through each day all the way up to the exam and left a week for review.Â
I really think the CPA is a test of discipline as much at it is accounting, so just be consistent with studying. And if you don’t understand a lesson - move on to the next and come back to it! You can do it!!
Finally back at it. Took a LONG break after FAR but gearing back up again for REG.
It is so hard to study for this one because I find tax extremely boring, so staying focused is tough.
Also there is a guy in this coffee shop talking in his phone so loudly you would think he was giving a speech. Smh.
I passed FAR!
Not that I have extra time BUT I want to read 20 books in 2020.
My test is this Friday.... here is a reach list of all the topics I want to get through before my exam. It’s 3:00 on Monday and I just finished up Non-Profits and am going to start reviewing Government. I want to at least get through that and Government Reporting to feel good about going into tomorrow. SOS.Â
My study digs for the day. It took some searching, but I finally found the perfect library. There is studio seating so no one can sit behind you, two outlets per spot, and that view. Drawback is the 12:00 children’s story time that echos through the library. That’s what headphones are for. Hours today are 10-6 so I’ll be here from 10-6.
I dub this look “study comfy chic”. Comfort > Fashion but still keep it cute. Plus the library is 5 degrees, hence the chunky sweater. Cheers to another day of studying.
Struggling to focus today. Almost ordered an OG Juicy Couture velour tracksuit but came to my senses, Paris Hilton is crying about it somewhere.Â
I’m freaking out about the amount of material I have left to get through. Should be studying instead of freaking out though. I have a cute outfit for studying tomorrow and I’m gonna hit my two fave coffee study spots. Gotta find the silver linings somewhere.Â
Oh also I got a new computer and it’s touch screen and only weighs like 2.5 lbs compared to my behemoth Mac heavyweight champion weighing in at a whopping 6 lbs.
“Oh you’re an accountant? You must be so good at math.”
No, I’m good at excel and have a ridiculous 10-key speed.
New calculator came today and I’m thrilled. Just in time for some DV LIFO practice Q’s.
The following entries are provided to add depth to your understanding. However, the entries themselves are rarely tested on the CPA Exam.
