GOSH DARN IT I MISSED MAG CHANCE
Thank you for 17k followers! To show my appreciation I have made a FREE PRINTABLE for planning your 2017 resolutions, goals & making it a reality.
This is a 16 page document with tonnes of inspirational quotes, and pages that will help you plan your life for 2017. This pack includes:
- Inspirational words
- Weekly goal tracker
- Monthly goal tracker
- 2x resolutions planner
- ‘Dreams’ pages.
- ‘Values’ page.
I have used these myself to help sort out my life for 2017, so I wanted to share them with you all so they can hopefully do the same.
Here’s the link for the pdf.
Have a happy 2017, I hope all your dreams come true xx
2017 monthly desktop wallpapers (in white)
I am honestly astonished at the amount of feedback and support I received from posting my first set of desktop wallpapers! Within that feedback was a few requests for a white background and black text version, so I’ve made that happen! You can download each month as a JPEG file from the link below!
Folder of 2017 desktop JPEGs on Google Drive
Once they’re downloaded, head to your control panel (PC) or system preferences (mac) to change your desktop background.
I hope you enjoy using these and if so, I’d love to see them in action! Feel free to tag me (#emmastudies) in any photos you upload. Whilst I intended these to be for your computer, you can print them and stick them up on a wall or make into a desk calendar! If there are any problems or errors, please let me know via my inbox.
Disclaimer: This background is for personal use only. The fonts used are not distributed via these downloads. You will not have access to use them from any of these files. They must be downloaded yourself. You can find the month header here.

Last night of studying for midterms! I wrote all over my windows in Expo to review.
How do you motivate yourself. I have some mental issues and well a teacher at my school told me that applying to good universities is a waste of the unis time as I'm a bad student. I didn't do well in my first year, so I got bad grades but it was due to sickness and family death. I feel so terrible after what that teacher said, I've fallen into habits of self harm and I feel really stupid, I want to get into a good university but I'm a huge idiot. How can I motivate myself in such a situation?
Hi there. Firstly, I just want to say you’re not stupid in any means and that teacher had absolutely no right to say that to you. That is completely wrong and definitely not what teachers should be saying. They’re supposed provide encouragement and support for students, and act as positive role models. For me motivation comes from a few places. During my childhood and up till high school my parents have always said they wished they had tried harder in school. They wish they had put in more effort and regretted not trying more. For me this has stuck in my mind. I didn’t want to leave high school and look back thinking “wow if only I’d actually tried”. When I had done my final big tests, there was times when I was like “oops I should have studied that..” but as I’ve graduated and finished my first year of uni I am happy with what I achieved and don’t regret anything. My final year of schooling had a ranking system to determine to your marks for entering university and if you were in the top percent of your classes, you would receive towards the highest marks. This was a motivator for me too. Whilst “beating people” wasn’t particularly my aim, I just wanted to do as well as I could to achieve the best mark I could. My classes did have some highly competitive assholes people who constantly bragged about ranks/marks so having success in silence was relatively motivating. When I finally decided what I wanted to do at university, I had a specific mark I needed to achieve so that set up more motivation. I knew I needed to get that and had to work for it. My first choice uni had quite a high requirement and because it was where I mainly wanted to go I didn’t want to fall short. Finally, running a studyblr has been a massive motivator. I’ve been able to use new techniques, new note taking ideas, different time management strategies, etc which I’d seen online. Having the opportunity to upload my own content and share my experiences has also been great. Since getting a studyblr, I definitely enjoyed studying more and really got into being motivated about my education. For you, I’d use that teachers comments as your motivation. Excuse my language, but I’d think “fuck you, I can do well and will get into a good university”. Take any negative energy you’ve got and power it to your studies. Work hard and improve your results. Forget about any bad grades that you might have had and start a fresh. Take the time to organise yourself, pick up your confidence and start the process of self-improvement. Work towards a better you for 2017. I hope this is helpful to you, if you ever need to talk more feel free to drop me a message xxx
My favorite quote is "Success is the best revenge" ~the Artemis Fowl series
Hi everyone! I’m Katie, and I absolutely love taking pretty notes (which is why I decided to make a studyblur)! Foreign language absolutely fascinates me, along with biology, English, and history. I could never pick a favourite subject:) I’ll be posting pictures of my notes and general motivation
Hey look we just learned that
Welcome!
How to improve your handwriting quickly
To no surprise, studyblr is absolutely full of handwriting to be envious of. There is no shortage of note-taking photos which look like an angel wrote them. Whilst your handwriting is a part of who you are and there is no shame in having wonderfully messy writing, sometimes you just fancy a change. With this technique I’ve managed to adjust my handwriting in a short space of time. I cannot guarantee this will work for everyone, but hopefully it will be of use! Here is my step-by-step guide to improving your writing:
Figure out what you want - what part of your writing do you want to change? Are you wanting to learn how to write more cursive or just make your writing more legible? Do you need to write faster or smaller? Write a random paragraph out and see what you like or don’t like about it. That way you can figure out what you need to change.
Pick a pen - find a pen that you love to write with it! Different pens can influence your writing so try out as many as you can. There is ballpoint, gel pen, fineliner, rollerball, etc! My favourites are Muji Gel Pens and the Pilot G2.
Find inspiration - as I said studyblr is full of inspiring handwriting and beautiful bullet journals. Find a few of your faves and save them. Same with Pinterest! Search around for some examples and save them.
Download your inspiration - the quickest way to retrain your hand is to copy. Whilst a handwriting sample from your favourite blog might be available, it can be extremely hard to recreate with accuracy. For this, I suggest picking a similar downloadable font. Sites such as dafont.com, fontsquirrel.com, myfonts.com and etsy.com offer hundreds of fonts for your choosing. Obviously choosing a handwritten style is going to be the easiest to recreate so start there. Here are my top handwritten fonts are Shoreline Script, Halo Handletter, MF I Love Glitter, Chocolate Coloured Raindrops, and Handwriting CR.
Make a cheatsheet - once you’ve picked and downloaded the font you want to make your handwriting like, you can make a cheatsheet. By this I mean opening a word/pages document and typing uppercase and lowercase letters, words and numbers in your chosen font. Pick a size that you think will be easy for you to write on, probably 12pt+. Then print! An example of the one I made is here.
Start writing - after you’ve printed start writing over the words. By tracing over the letters you’ll eventually retain yourself to write that way more naturally. Take it slow and be sure to properly trace the letters. This might take a while and some hard work but when it works it will be worth it. Try printing your cheatsheet 3 or 4 times and going over them all. Once you feel you’ve got the hang off it try copying without the font underneath and see how similar it is.
Persistence - changing your writing is undoubtedly going to take time so don’t be disheartened if you don’t get it quickly. It is also important to remember that being able to recreate your desired handwriting exactly can be tricky and might not be totally possible. However practicing should help your normal handwriting adapt to have some of the features that the writing you want has.
I did this over the past few days and have managed to improve my cursive style writing. You can see my normal writing vs the writing style I learnt in 2ish days. I hope this helps! I’m happy to email ready done font cheatsheets if you’d like one, just message me. If you are practicing using these tips, I’d love to see. Tag me on here or Instagram! :~)
12/7/2016 Today I... >> Continued my goal streak on FitBit >> Set up a new desk layout >> Took & reviewed notes for Mock Trial and Social Studies. Studied for my Science test and Math quiz. Unfortunately, I didn't get time to resume my Science notes, but I did do piano! (Not violin, though D:) I also printed out an angry letter to the administration... >>Finally updated my Studyblr!
Started on energy notes this morning before I had to leave for the bus
how i make my notes look nice
0. Why Bother?
This sounds superficial, but I love pretty things. I also love to doodle, but this is a productive way to do it. It helps your notes seem more organized and manageable, and because they’re so pretty you’ll want to study from them instead of shoving them into the deep dark recesses of your bag.
1. Borders and Dividers
You know how pictures always look better in a frame? The same goes for notes.
These don’t need to be anything fancy, they can be boxes or squiggly lines. Here are some ideas, ft. my slanting columns and messy scanning :)
2. Nice Headers
I usually have 2 classes of headers - one for the title of the notes and one for subheadings in the notes.
My heading system is fairly consistent - I only have two types of main headers and a few subheaders. Here’s how mine look, ft. another bad scan
Here are some more ideas!
3. Tables, Diagrams, Graphic Organizers
Instead of writing information in big blocks of text, you can organize it in a different way.
4. Doodle!
Drawings related to the topic can improve visual interest and memory. You can also draw random things that are somewhat related to the topic, just to spice up the notes. For example, in Biology I drew plants when learning about the chemical processes of photosynthesis.
5. Get Inspired
You can browse the studyblr and studyspo tags on tumblr, my pretty notes tag, or some pictures of how I structure my notes.
Some people with beautiful inspiring notes:
@studyguideverified @studykouffee @studypetals @studyrelief and many other blogs, tag your faves in the reblogs please!
Normally I just skim over the photos, but when looking for inspiration you should look closely and incorporate elements you like into your own notes. While you’re at it, you may as well read the information because learning!
IMPORTANT
Pretty notes are very popular in the studyblr community, but don’t feel forced to make them. If it doesn’t help you, don’t waste your time. I don’t recommend rewriting your notes just to decorate, make sure you’re also clarifying/condensing/adding to/etc the information.
