Thank you in advance for whatever you write! This is my fourth year participating in Yuletide (after many years of lurking and reading) and I am excited to read anything from my requested fandoms, so please know that the notes below are just suggestions and truly anything involving these characters will make me happy.
N.B. - many of the prompts below are shippy because that’s how I roll, but I’m absolutely cool with gen fic as well if that’s more your cup of tea!
Some general likes: UST, pining, reunions, 5 times fic, everyone else noticing/realizing that the main couple’s totally in love, fake relationships, soulmate AUs, and road trips.
General dislikes: Kidfic, main character death, PWP (smut in general is fine though)
Austin & Murry-O’Keefe Families - Madeleine L’Engle - Vicky Austin and Adam Eddington
A Ring of Endless Light is probably my favorite book of all time, so I have an enormous amount of love and affection for these two. I love their appreciation of each other and am super fascinated by the complications between them. Anything with them post-Troubling A Star would be great. Some prompts:
I’d be really interested in an older Vicky who knows herself better reuniting with Adam after years apart - whether because of physical distance or Adam being emotionally distant or what - and seeing how their relationship has changed/stayed the same over time. It could be a planned reunion, or an accidental one - maybe they both end up at the same party in NYC ten years or so post-Troubling a Star, not expecting to see each other, and it leads to a reconnection.
Maybe Vicky visits Adam in California or New York and meets his friends there.
Maybe they take a trip together that doesn’t end in espionage and death (road trip? Vicky’s an expert on those by now, surely).
Or, show a day in their life together 5 or 10 years later.
Daisy Jones & the Six - Taylor Jenkins Reid - Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne
God, I devoured this book in a day; I loved basically everything about it - the oral history style, the time period, the making of the album, ALL OF IT. And, of course, these two stole my heart and then promptly broke it into a million pieces. I’m such a sucker for the kind of creative connection they had, and all that TENSION every time they were on stage together was so, so great. Anything with these two interacting at all would be great; my only DNW here is any Camila-bashing - I like her a lot. I’m fine if there’s infidelity, just not interested in reading criticism of Camila. Some prompts:
Resolve that sexual tension! It doesn’t even have to be smutty, I’d be happy with just a kiss (but smut is fine too) - it could be an AU, it could be something left out of the oral history (I mean, come on, would either of them really admit it to Billy’s daughter??), it could happen in the future. I can appreciate all the many reasons nothing happened in the book, but that’s what fanfic is for!
Future fic! Obviously things were left pretty open-ended/hopeful - do they meet up? If so, how does that go - do they still have a connection? Do they finally get a happy ending?
I loved the reveal of the author of the oral history at the end, and I’m very interested in how that affected what was shared for the book, especially with Billy. Did he leave anything major out? He seemed in denial about a lot of what happened with Daisy for a lot of the book - was it pure denial, or was it because of who he was being interviewed by? I’d love to see any missing scenes that Billy or Daisy didn’t talk about (or didn’t tell the full truth about), or maybe just a story that gets into Billy’s headspace during that time without the oral history filter.
I love nontraditional fic formats, so if that’s something you’re interested in, I’d love to read it, either as a whole fic or just incorporated into a regular fic! Some random thoughts in this direction: interview sections cut from the final book (deleted scenes?); in-universe reviews of the book after it’s release; in universe listicles from after the book’s release like “Top 10 Most Surprising Details We Learned From This Book” or other assorted reactions - think Vulture/Buzzfeed-style articles; articles about the band being spotted together post-release
Wild Rose (2019) - Rose-Lynn Harlan
I loved every minute of this movie - Glasgow setting + country music? What’s not to like? Also, Jessie Buckley’s performance is incredible, and I had the soundtrack on repeat for months. I left the movie wanting to spend more time in that world, and that’s all I’m really looking for from a fic. I’m sure anything that inspires you would be delightful; here’s where my mind went if you’re looking for prompts:
Anything in that one year gap at the end - how does she get from point A (leaving Nashvile) to point B (singing “Glasgow” up on that stage)? What’s the songwriting process like for her? How does she reconnect with Susannah (at least enough to invite her to the show)? What’s her relationship with her mom and kids like during this period, and how is it different from earlier in the film?
What happens next? Is this a turning point in her life/career? What exactly has she decided she wants out of life now, and what’s her plan to get there?
