I kinda feel proud of myself for going to the library today after feeling so lazy when I woke up in the morning.

02.05.20 | one more day til the qualifying exam!!!! today iâm just gonna be studying by making my own practice questions that i think would represent what iâll be tested on and get my writing juices flowing! my worst fear is that my mind will go completely blank once i start reading the questions during the test. getting thoughts out of my head onto the page is so hard for me lol
Agatha Christieâs Poirot: Series Thirteen - The Big Four (2013)
It was all smoke and mirrors. Is that not the expression?
12.5.19 //
I have a ten page essay that was due four days earlier than I thought, may no one else have that bullshit this finals season <3

Second quiz in my math statistics class and Iâm already resorting to youtube tutors for help. Shoutout to Michael, he is making cumulative distribution functions seem not so bad.
While this was my first time reading Agatha Christie, I must say that it felt weirdly familiar - it strongly reminded me of the mystery books I used to devour as a child (The Famous Five, Nancy DrewâŠ). The book was addictive, fast-paced, witty and had a good cadence to it - making it an easy quick read to start off my 2020 reading challenge. âThe Mysterious Affair at Stylesâ sets the stage for a classic trope, as far as murder mysteries go: backdrop: a sumptuous estate nestled in the British countryside population: a motley crew of characters with a motley set of motives intrigue: a newly-wed couple featuring a young dark handsome man and old, âpast-her-primeâ heiress with a will to set in stone. Murder inevitably strikes and Captain Arthur Hastings, one of the guests at the mansion, enlists the help of the elusive Hercule Poirot to help solve the mystery. A very fun read, written by a 27-year old Agatha and the first of many other novels featuring the famous Belgian detective. Looking forward to reading more! The next one of the list (in chronological order) is âThe Murder on the Linksâ

Today I accidently ended up having a study break day. Went for a coffe, and then helped a friend with her video project. All in all, a pretty nice and lazy day.
13th January, 2020
I finished most of my stressful exams.
The presentation was really stressful but we managed to make it (now fingers crossed for the report).
The written exam, Human Rights Law, went well I think but it wasnât really what I expected. Nontheless, I think it went well so I should be able to pas that one.
The oral exam was a piece of cake! I was so stressed out about this one, as I hate oral exams. But it was really just talking about what you knew. I just rambled on and on and the professors liked it đ€
my favorite random study tools
1. quizlet games. the gravity game on quizlet literally saved my german grade lol
2. white boards. i do all my math practice on these and it makes it not only easier to do the practice but way more fun!
3. youtube. youtube really pulls through when you donât fully understand a concept based on how your teacher explained it. there are probably thousands of videos explaining any topic you can think of- odds are one of them will help you out!
4. ted talks. this isnât exactly a study tool, but there are tons of ted talks that explain ways you can study/retain information. i highly recommend them!
5. act like you already have your dream job. do you want to be a journalist? act like youâre reporting on a major story when youâre writing an english essay. apply the same logic to any class/job. it makes studying more fun!!
6. podcasts. find a podcast on a topic for your class and give it a listen. theyâre great because you can listen to them any time- when youâre walking to class, in the shower, while youâre doing other studying⊠just having it on will help you subconsciously absorb the information!
7. diy study guides. did your teacher not make a study guide for a test? make your own! go through all your notes for the unit and put all the important information into one document. this way youâll have a one stop shop when you go to study for the test!
thanks for reading! x
guess who has spent her 21st birthday doing probability homework đ

Just realized the quote âDo it right until you canât get it wrongâ is HIGHLY applicable to mathematics.Â
How to find textbooks online for free: a post.
Textbooks are fucking expensive, and if your professor doesnât require a physical copy (most donât - they just want you to have the book at hand. Or maybe even not. Some professors literally give no fucks about whether you have the book or not) and you donât mind having your copy as an electronic copy - this is the post for you!
Most textbook companies put out new editions every year or so even though there isnât really that much new information. Sometimes theyâll eliminate questions if itâs something like a math or chemistry book or theyâll add in a few sentences about updated legislation (the professor I work for teaches human sexuality, and the newest edition of the book she uses included the 2009 decision to allow same-sex couples have hospital visitation rights). These new editions are pointless and only created to make the textbook company money and to cut down on students selling to each other. Youâre going to ignore that. We love older editions. Make sure when youâre searching on the following sites that you donât include the edition number to give you more search results. If one with your edition comes up - great! If not, you can usually stick to something one to three editions behind without any major changes.
I should also mention that checking your schoolâs library for a book you can check out to either keep for the semester or scan the pages you need is also a great option. I saved $90 the semester after I wrote this by borrowing a chemistry lab manual from the library and just scanning the labs I needed instead of buying one for myself that I couldnât even sell later on.
Sites you should be searching:
FilesTube - FilesTube searches THE ENTIRE INTERNET for files uploaded to file-sharing websites such as Rapidshare, Mediafire, or WuUpload. Sometimes people will upload pdf files of your textbook. This is always an important first search.
Google Books - You usually wonât find your textbook on Google Books, but itâs always worth a look. Sometimes pages are missing because itâs only a preview of the book, but again - always worth a look.
Scribd - People upload documents to Scribd and by becoming a member (free!) or connecting through Facebook (if youâre lazy!), you can download whatever files you may find. This sometimes includes textbooks.
BookBoon - website specifically for finding pdf versions of textbooks
Curriki - free open source materials
Flat World Knowledge - free business, humanities, and science textbooks
California Learning Resource Network
Open Culture
Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources
TorrentScan - textbooks are also uploaded to torrent sites in some cases - you may as well check.
If push comes to shove, you can try variations of googling âtextbook name torrentâ or âtextbook name downloadâ or âtextbook name download free.â Sometimes things pop up and I never would have known about them.
LibraryPirate is a torrent search site specifically for textbooks. (Added 10 October 2011)
AMAZING Reddit post (Added 2 November 2011)
JenkThat - I havenât tried this out yet, but Iâve heard good things from others. Itâs also a good place to find other ebooks that arenât textbooks. (Added 29 December 2011)
Bookfi - I just briefly looked at this site and searched for a few common terms and it looks great! Download links are provided straight from the search results. Definitely useful! (Added 1 August 2012)
Iâve found all 8 of my textbooks for this term (19 credit hours, six classes) through one of the methods above. Iâm not even going to look at retail prices, but checking BigWords.com (which, if you want to buy your books/canât find them anywhere with one of the previous methods, will give you the cheapest price on the internet), I saved $497.87 by doing this. It takes time, but itâs definitely worth almost $500 worth of time. If you know of more ways to find free textbooks - please let me know!
To this list, Iâd also add Coinread, which for me has kind of filled the niche left by BookFi after a lot of their download links stopped working.
(In no small part because a lot of the books on Coinread are the exact same versions downloadable elsewhere; Iâve just found that Coinread currently has the most complete aggregate library as far as my own needs go.)
Caveat, though: only 99.99% percent of books on Coinread are free. Occasionally if a book is really new, you have to pay like a dollar to download it, via e.g. Amazon giftcard. You also used to be able to upload your own books for site credit, but it looks like that feature is disabled at the moment.
Is it a totally illegal moneymaking scheme? Yes. Are the books still complete and of perfectly legit quality? Yes. I signed up with a throwaway gmail account, used an Amazon giftcard for the few books I needed that werenât free, and havenât had any issues.
*shrug?*
TL;DR, take the obvious precautions, but it works, especially if you canât find the book in question elsewhere on the internets.
01.Jan.2020
Started off my year with tidying up my room. I didnât declutter anything, just moved things into a better place I guess. Hereâs to a (hopefully) better new year! I know that new year resolutions usually donât last so rather than a list of things I should start doing, I think Iâll focus on areas of my current life that could use some improvement.
Social life. I donât need a busy social life but I would like to have a few close friends that I can speak to regularly and be comfortable and vulnerable around.Â
Academics. I managed to pass all nine courses I took in 2019 but they were the âbarely scraped byâ kind of passes. I just want to raise my WAM towards a distinction range.Â
Health. Iâve done a decent job at eating fairly healthy the past two years which is great but for this year I want to try more recipes (and document it for Instagram) and take my vitamin supplements more regularly. I would also like to start exercising but uh⊠weâll see how long that one lastsâŠ
