it’s been a rough week for me… well, “rough” is an understatement. last night I finally had the time to let the emotional/physical exhaustion take over. usually after a day of no productivity, I’d force myself to have a fully-productive next day; but today, I slept well, made myself some coffee, and my goal for the day is to just take it one task at a time. no forcing and no leaving breaks or meals off. don’t push your limits. I’m learning that taking it slow is good for the soul.

Imagine where you could be by this time next year. Now do the work
I visited Schloss Neuschwanstein in the Bavarian Alps the other day, and I have to say, Ludwig II’s whole life was just the biggest mood
it takes years to develop your craft. do not romanticize the idea of an ‘overnight success’. be a student. grow organically. get really good. hate your work. start over. find new ways to express the same ideas. the student becomes the master. your time will come.
soon: comfy sweaters, hot beverages in cups, leaves crunching under your feet, drops of rain against the window, reading your book in bed

Monet’s nymphéas under swaying weeping willows at Giverny. We basked in the sun and walked through flower rows for hours on Saturday.

you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on. » pride and prejudice (2005)

ap psychology 💫 there is only one week left for the ap psych exam and i haven’t been able to finish the topics yet… i am super stressed! also, we hit 5.6K??! like, how did that happen? i haven’t been able to post anything for months… nevertheless, thank you so so so much! 💛
forgive yourself. whether you fail a test, eat too many cookies, say the wrong thing, fail a class, or spend a whole day in bed — learn to forgive yourself. the next day will be better. the next day will be a day closer to your next success. you can do it.

25.7.18 .. on the train, at the end of a long day, heading from Odense to Copenhagen. this morning I was in Hamburg and tomorrow I will be back in England. sadly my friends who I came to visit at SDU were called away so I explored Odense by myself and then saw Mama Mia 2 in the cinema which is attached to the station. now I just have to go and find my hotel to check-in and be rested for another hot day in Denmark tomorrow.

The advantage of going somewhere with a bunch of experts (read: historians and literary scholars) is that you get to see things you otherwise wouldn’t get to see, like the second level of the Rokokosaal at the Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek and the tower part of the library that houses the library’s collection of early modern globes, military literature, 18th century erotica, and gardening manuals. And a giant spiral staircase.
(I’ve also finally been to Goethe’s house, but I was too busy staring at oversized Greek art, getting distracted by paintings and weird colour choices, and to listen to our guide to take pictures. Let’s just say that I think I understand Goethe a lot better now, and I’m both scared and impressed.)
This is part of the reason I was gone and failed to update…
@shelomit - Look! Pictures as promised! :)
