re-introduction ｡𖦹°‧

hello there! 𖹭 i'm wallace , and welcome to my little study blog! ୭ ˚. ᵎᵎ

i know i already posted an introduction, but since school starts in a week, i want to re-introduce myself to anyone who's just finding me :)

now for a bit about me!

i live in rhode island, but i was born and raised in nyc. we moved from nyc to rhode island a little over two years ago!

i'm 15 (16 on september 8th!) and a (soon-to-be) junior in high school.

this fall, i'm starting at a new school after attending a tiny private school for two years. my grades have never been perfect, but i'm determined to make the most out of this year by getting the highest grades and working as hard as i can to be great. this little blog is where i can look for inspiration to try hard, and hopefully encourage others!

i have autism and ADHD, as well as hEDS, GERD, and suspected POTS. i was undiagnosed with autism and ADHD until very recently, which made it a lot harder to succeed in school.

my favorite band is two door cinema club! i've been a fan since 2021. some other music artists i really like are joywave, glass animals, joanna newsom, colin stetson, sigur rós, hot chip, the chemical brothers, björk, and alan walker. i listen to mostly EDM and dubstep in my free time.

in my free time, i like to draw, write songs, and make jewelry.

this fall, i'll be taking:

AP language

calculus

american government and economics

chemistry

i'm not sure about the rest of my classes yet, i'm waiting for the school to officially release the schedules.

i'm interested in pursuing a career in data analysis, and my dream colleges are uc san diego, mit (not that i could ever get in, much less afford it) and uiuc! i want to major in data analytics.

my goals for my junior and senior years are to improve my study habits, get straight a's, ace my tests, and do the best i can to go to a good college.

my journey will definitely be messy,, but maybe romanticizing things will help! i hope that within the chaos of my study habits, maybe you'll find that you can relate to me, and maybe i even inspire you! but we'll see. follow along as i do everything i can to make the most out of the little time i have left ⋆｡°·☁︎

my appointment to see if i have esophageal cancer got moved from march to literally TOMORROW. i have a health test tomorrow last period and i’m gonna miss it because i’ll be in the hospital 🙏 i’ll be too sedated to care though

praying for everyone impacted by the school shooting at brown university. people i know were in that building and hid for hours thinking they wouldn’t make it out alive. people i know had to be evacuated by the police while in the area. you don’t expect this sort of thing to impact you and then it happens just 15 minutes from where you live.

wallace’s foolproof study method

it’s been soo long since i posted but since i’m in the middle of a test-heavy week, i wanted to share my study method that has worked for me for many years (as someone with autism and adhd)! i hope this helps someone :)

disclaimer: !! this doesn’t use ai and you can do it physically or online. !! i also find this works best for tests.

here are the steps:

gather all the information you need to study, whether it’s google slides, class notes, or a review sheet. some teachers make study guides for upcoming tests as well. make sure you have it all in front of you.

go through all of it and highlight the topics you aren’t 100% about. if you don’t think you’ll ace it on a test, highlight it.

take ALL the things you highlighted and make flashcards out of them. if you’re working online, i suggest using quizlet to make them. however, it’s important that you not copy and paste anything! write everything out, and as you’re writing them out, make sure you’re repeating what the cards say out loud.

go through every flashcard while reading what they say out loud. if you get a question right, take it out of your pile (you can do this by using quizlet’s “track progress” option). go over every single card until you get all of them right.

if you feel truly confident after getting each flashcard right, re-shuffle your cards and try again.

i do this when cramming for a test i procrastinated studying for. this has saved my life SOO many times. i really hope it can help someone else too!

jeez, it's been a hot minute !!!!!!! hey guys !!!!

i've been REALLY busy recently. i have tests every week and right now i'm studying for the psat/nmsqt that i'm taking on WEDNESDAY.

i've made a lot of friends at my new school! i'm really really happy here. the work can be a lot, but it's exactly how i wanted it to be.

this upcoming week is spirit week!! monday is sports day, tuesday is country vs country club, wednesday is unity day, thursday is pajama day (specific to juniors) and friday is our homecoming game!! saturday will be homecoming :)

anyway, i apologize for the inactivity. i'll try to update you all more soon!

wednesday: i played pickleball in gym and it was SO much fun but i’m SO bad at it. i feel bad for everyone who had to play with me

thursday: i got up at 5 am to shower and it actually sucked ass

friday: i had an econ exam…

highlights:

almost dying from acid reflux on wednesday

almost passing out during my econ exam because of how hot it was (90 degrees with no windows open and no air circulation)

getting attacked by a giant mosquito

life lessons i learned:

it’s more socially acceptable to tell someone to shut up than to give them the quiet coyote because you don’t want to tell them to shut up
