Random Shit I Like (Am Loser)

So, I have a weird attachment to this song. It's one I really wanted to cover, but there wasn't really a UST that I could find on Youtube. I could find 1 on Nico Nico, but it took some liberties with certain aspects of the song, and I wanted to try and make it more accurate to the original.

There's one part in the 2nd verse, I can't remember the exact note, but the MIDI I was using as a reference also kinda went off and did its own thing for that one line. It was probably annoying to write around, because if I try to remember the length, it was like a dotted 1/32nd note or something. It was really fighting me in the UTAU MIDI roll.

I just had to try my best to re-create that part in a way that didn't put other parts off time while also attempting to sound like the original. I'm really bad at doing things by ear and I can be a perfectionist, so it brickwalled me for longer than I'd like to admit. Still, I was really happy with it, even though that moment lasted less than a second.

So, it's like, I liked the song before, but it's weird to say I'm nostalgic for it because I ended up overworking on a really minute detail that people would never really notice when listening to it.

Appreciating my fave artist for a sec, Foo Midori. They've gotten work for both Cardfight Vanguard and FEH, both of which I love.

BUT, I swear, they got snubbed on super hard on both of those titles. FEH's snubbing is much worse, obviously. Midori happened to drop a BANGER with Hot Springs Hinoka, and then for some reason, never got to do another unit. So, I have a soft spot for Hot Springs Hinoka in particular. I think she's super inventive and has a ton of personality in a lot of her arts. I think she creates a more mesmerizing level of coolness than some super ornate units despite the limitations of the prompt. That's just Foo Midori quality.

CFV gave Midori a ton more work, but I'm mad about the treatment of Lauris. Now, I really like Hinoka, but it's in no way proportional to how much I LOVE Lauris.

So, Lauris hit a bunch of axis at once for me. Bermuda Triangle is my fave clan, Harmony was by far my favorite mechanic due to it having interesting skill expression options without being obtuse, and the headliner was drawn by my fave artist!

Lauris was a huge deal, imo, just because Foo Midori hadn't really designed a unit that would just keep going before. Lots of little 1-offs. Lauris was a stride bearer which is a faction in CFV that got MASSIVE attention. You could expect these names to just keep pumping out new units. Lauris...didn't though.

Lauris didn't get much of any support throughout all of her time in existence. She did get 2 of her "expected" alts as a stride bearer, but some were just never released. Then she was demoted to no longer being the face of Harmony. It's a little sad. If it wasn't for my nostalgia for Lauris, I almost might not have wanted to see my fave artist get to design a major character that didn't take off...

She hasn't gotten anything new in almost a decade, but from what I can see D series is releasing new versions of the Stride Bearers. Hopefully down the line we get a brand new Lauris!

I had to step away from the TCG for some years due to losing all of my options for local events, but I found a store recently. So, maybe this time in a year or 2 I'll be able to represent again for this very personally nostagic character!

Today, I'm going to post one of my most pointless headcanons that has ever crossed my mind. So, this guy:

His name has always been "Richard" to me. I think it's just cuz he's a posh, brunette Elf like "Dusk Illusionist, Robert" from the same game. Cuz I mean, Robert and Richard, sibling-ish, alliteration...

Anyway, naming him got me oddly attached to him and I still love my baby boy even after all these years. Whether it was the OG series or V series, I found some reason to run him at at least 1 copy. Even though Draw Triggers were never that good, I just like looking at him.

I LOVE MY FRIENDS

I LOVE ALL OF MY FRIENDS. I LOVE HOW THEY MAKE ME FEEL SAFE AND COMFORTABLE AND THEY'RE ALL SO UNDERSTANDING AND NICE. I LIKE SPENDING TIME WITH THEM AND HALF THE TIME I'M NOT SPENDING WITH THEM I'M JUST THINKING ABOUT HOW FUN IT WAS THE LAST TIME WE SPENT TIME TOGETHER OR HOW AWESOME IT'LL BE TO SEE THEM AGAIN.

They've seen me vulnerable, they've held me when I cried, and I want to be there for them any time they're feeling crappy too. I love them so muuuuch.

Honestly half of my friends think I'm dating my other friends because I have nothing bad to say about them, and I'm always talking about how much I love them to their faces and to other people, and I just feel so happy around them, and I just love giving everyone big hugs and listening to them because my friends are all so cool and interesting.

So, is ATOLS known much at all by Synth singer fans? I like his stuff. It's usually not all that out there, but it sounds really nice and the mixing is usually pretty cool to me. Like the Autotune on this song being used to make Miku's voice sound all wobbly and weird. Usually when I hear cool usage of autotune it's to make the voice like super punchy, but the singing is soooo soft here.

So, a game I'm pretty nostalgic for is Luminous Arc. A HUGE part of that is Priel. I can imagine her lines were supposed to be quirky and immature in the original, so the localizers made her talk like a valley girl. Normally localizers don't nail speech quirks too well, but this one just feels PEAK it's IMMACULATE and I LIVE for it. Hurray for pretty, pretty Priel!

I think this song is really cool and fun, and it did have me going like ~I'm a Woofer Dooper desu~ to myself. :)
