An excerpt from Neru’s Journal

Read this first

My therapist said that keeping a journal may help, so that’s what this is.

Where do I start… Okay, so a few weeks ago, I was attacked… I think. My memory of the event is hazy, but what I do know is that I’ve been hurt pretty badly.

The left half of my face is all bandaged, and my leg has to be amputated and replaced with a prosthetic. I didn’t ask for either of these by the way. Don’t know why mom is adding all these unnecessary purchases to her bills. I swear I’m doing just fine.

Come to think of it, some weird changes have happened since the attack. I get sunburned easily, and food doesn’t taste good to me anymore. I feel like I’m craving something specific, but I can’t put my finger on it. My mom and friends are really worried.

But one thing nobody understands is that I simply CAN’T take any more days off from school, As exhausting as it is, I have to get all this done and go to college if I’m ever to have anything resembling a good life. It’s important to get through all this pain now so I can prosper later.

But I ought to be getting to bed. I’m not tired- that much, but I know I will be tomorrow. I guess I’ll talk later.

This one takes place in highschool. Yeah that’s right, it’s one of THOSE. I don’t have all the details yet but the basic premise is that Neru was turned into a vampire. And she should really take a break from school to come to terms with what’s happened, but she just keeps showing up because she’s determined to graduate and go to collage. And no one can really stop her. But Neru continuing to push herself is hurting her a lot and all her friends are really worried.
