Stuff I've Learned

I'm an middle aged engineer/ IT nerd who takes a while to figure some shit out.  These are my (random) hints.

Don't be colorblind about the shade of someone's skin. Acknowledge it, don't judge them on it. Be interested in them and their families journey.

Same as for an accent.

Never use white or light coloured enamel paint inside. Over time it goes yellow and looks awful. Use acrylic enamel. And it washes up in water. Yay. More on painting later...

Put some newspaper at the bottom of your kitchen bin rather than using a plastic bin liner. This will collect 90% of the ickyness and be much better for the environment.

After baking bread let it cool for several hours, slice the whole loaf and freeze it. You'll be able to take out individual frozen slices.

#1 Travel tip. Take several packets of industrial grade earplugs. They will help you sleep when; on a plane, in noisy hotels, next to a drunk snoring spouse.

I use "sparkplugs" brand rated at -33db. Safety shops will sell these. I had to buy a pack of 200 but I'm 3/4 of the way through

To glue shoe soles back on use clear silicon sealant. It sticks like $#!t and is very flexible.

Never put bread in the fridge. Freeze it or store in cool pantry. I'm looking at my parents here... Bread in the fridge goes stale and solid very quickly.
