IN HONOR OF MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH
it is NOT weird to go to therapy
you should NOT feel ASHAMED or EMBARRASSED for seeking medical help for mental problems
your FEELINGS and HEALTH is important and VALID
taking MEDS is A-OKAY and NOTHING to be ashamed of
being depressed does NOT mean you are LAZY
anxiety is REAL and VALID
bpd and bipolar are NOT the same but both are valid\
seeking HELP for SELF HARM is IMPORTANT
struggling with hyper sexuality because of abuse DOES NOT make you DIRTY
your trauma is VALID and NOT your fault
an eating disorder is NOT vain or for attention
ocd is NOT a trend
substance abuse IS hard and we NEED to help those with it
schizophrenia DOES NOT mean someone is crazy or dangerous
dissociation is trauma response and NOT quirky
IT IS IMPULSIVE THOUGHTS NOT INTRUSIVE ONES
THANK YOU, DRINK WATER, TAKE UR MEDS, AND I LOVE YOU GOOD MORNING, GOOD AFTERNOON, AND GOODNIGHT
this is sadly relatable
if you don’t support people with ‘scary’ mental illnesses, you are not an ally.
you need to support people with ASPD
you need to support people with NPD
you need to support people with DID/OSDD
you need to support people with schizophrenia
you need to support people with psychosis
you need to support people with delusions
and so many more disorders that society has deemed scary, dangerous and/or bad.
People with personality disorders are not evil or subhuman. In most cases they are people who faced so much ongoing trauma and neglect during their upbringing that it damaged their development to the point of permanent disability. These are traumatized people who deserve compassion, support and resources, not further dehumanization. They are victims and survivors, not perpetrators
Fully 9% of the adult population of the US has at least one personality disorder. The idea that in 10 people walking the streets of the US is irredeemably evil is patently ridiculous.
Friendly reminder that this world was designed for neurotypicals and if you’re neurodiverse or mentally ill and you’re struggling, please be kinder to yourself because you’re doing your best in a world that wasn’t designed for you
Remember that even good changes can make us feel depressed, because, as creatures of habit, we're resistant to change. That doesn't mean that it wasn't the right choice.
some of y’all need to learn more compassion for adults who are severely mentally ill or disabled… like schizophrenics who still depend on their family members and probably always will have to, autistic people who live in group homes, people with bipolar disorder who attend partial inpatient programs, etc…. people who couldn’t get college degrees, who can’t work. not everyone is like you.
“Yes, mental illnesses can be stressful and cause issues in relationships with loved ones” and “no, mental illness does not make up a person’s entire personality nor does it make them inherently abusive or a bad person” are two statements that can and must coexist
"You wouldn't be depressed if you just..."
DO NOT GUILT TRIP PEOPLE WHO ARE MENTALLY ILL.
Its okay if you do not understand everything but dont get mad.
Its okay if you do not know what to say but dont judge.
Listen & offer any support.
Thank you.
