you're both staying in student accommodation, and one night after you're back late from studying, you manage to lock yourself out of your dorm. it's late, your friends are all out getting drunk, they won't be home until sunup, and the superintendent is off duty. so, you're stuck.

but, you're not stuck completely bored out your mind. well, you are, but you had your guitar case with you at least.

you think since it's late and most other students are out at parties and having sex, no one will hear if you're messing around with a few chords in the empty stairwell. it has incredible acoustics for such a shitty building.

you'd settled on playing '500 Miles' when henry is making his way up to his dorm. and when he hears the soft strum of your strings and the even softer sound of your voice to match, oh, he's done for.

he was already gone for you, he can't help himself when you're just that pretty. but he had no idea you could sing. the echo of your angelic voice through the stairwell was nothing short of ethereal to him, like a siren at sea.

he was sure to keep himself in the shadows as he tends to do anyway, never wanting to interrupt what you thought was a private performance.

when he saw you in class again the next day, gave him that little polite smile you always did, he was swooning. the next sketch he did in that special book he'd set aside to fill only with you, the one with the best quality paper he could afford, was with your head tilted down, eyeing the chords of your guitar. he'd imagined it non stop after hearing you in the hall, the image burned into his brain as if the scars scattered on his arms had formed some beautiful art in his head.

you'd never know it, but in there, in his head, you were his.
