yu listened to henry list off ways to brew coffee with a pretty impressed look on his face . though , he was already expecting to be impressed by henry - he certainly seemed like the type to have a lot of tricks up his sleeve that weren’t obvious just by looking at him . maybe that was why he was so interesting to be around . yu felt like he learned something new about him with every change in conversation topic .
❝ well , doctor , we’re drinking to the new year . i’m not letting you go off on your own with everyone else who’s been drinking tonight . so yes , you’re staying here tonight . ❞ he says that with such a teasing smile , but he means exactly that . yu had a very high alcohol tolerence , but he definitely feels a lot more relaxed when the beers starts trickling in one by one & their casual conversation continues on .
at henry’s next inquiry , yu almost needs him to repeat it as grey eyes hyper-focus on the other’s form placed so comfortably in his lap . he swallows hard , eyes drifting elsewhere in the room as he tries to formulate an answer .
there’s a hum that catches in his throat , a finger tapping against his beer can . ❝ well , i guess….. nah , nevermind - ❞ he cuts himself off , realizing that his thoughts first went to things he couldn’t do when he was a kid - & thinking that henry probably didn’t mean any of that dumb stuff he was possibly thinking about . so , he waves a hand dismissively . ❝ it’s kind of dumb . ❞
The laziest of smiles etches on to Henry’s face at the cute use of the nickname, fingers aching to travel up and trace the fine curve of Yu’s jawline. Instead, his eyes do the work. Soft blue orbs wander along his features as a soft hum emits from him. “You drive a hard bargain, sir,” Henry quips in reply, an even larger grin slipping across his features. He lifts his head up just enough to tip the beer back against his lips. Tongue darts to lick away any that’s dribbled over the plush curve of his lower lip. He settles back down, awaiting the other’s response to his question.
However, as Yu decides to dodge his answer with a dismissive response, Henry lets out a small groan of complaint. “Nothing’s dumb, Yu. Especially not something you’ve always wanted to try. C’mon. I want to hear it,” his chin angles up, getting a better look at the other from where he lays. “How about I go first? Hmm.. I’ve always wanted to try...” he hums, eyes falling close as he wrestles through his mind.
His eyes blink open as an idea pops in. Positively pleased with himself, he taps the back of his hand against Yu’s chest. “I’ve always wanted to try a serious relationship with another man,” he muses, hand sliding back down to his chest and around the can his other hand’s still gripping. “I’ve always had flings with them and really only dated girls seriously because my mom had talked about wanting grandkids, but being older... I feel like having happiness with someone else is better than building a family with the wrong person. Besides, I’ve always preferred men,” he explains, the tips of his fingers circling the rim of his can.
His head tips back, eyes locking with Yu’s, “Your turn.”
