So listen, here’s the thing...
We have a problem in this community with regards to the relationship between writers and readers. 99.9% of the time, it’s all good; there’s a sense of mutual respect that a relationship of this nature should entail. But there’s that 0.1% of the time when the world turns on it’s axis, the planets all align, the Titans are released from the hole in the ground where Zeus trapped them, free to roam the earth again – and someone feels they’re entitled to say rude things on anon.
Any bit of nastiness from an anon that I see on my dash makes my blood boil almost immediately (because it’s uncalled for and inconsiderate and violates that mutual respect I mentioned earlier) but the one thing, the one thing, that makes me so angry I want to scream is seeing an anon go into the ask of a new writer who is just getting their feet in the community and completely tear them apart.
There are complaints in this community about authors leaving and deleting their stories, and new authors abandoning stories that are just getting started – but who could blame them when they take the time to write and post and then get shit on for their effort! If we don’t start treating each other better and rebuilding that relationship based on respect, we’re not going to have a community to turn to any more.
The other day I read an anon ask on another writer’s blog where they had the audacity to say that some of the pieces submitted for the fic exchange were subpar and didn’t deserve to be reviewed and praised. It made me absolutely sick to my stomach that someone had the gall to say that someone who was brave enough to put their work out there and say “here, this is what I’ve been working on”, doesn’t deserve feedback. And I think the views of that one anon reflect the views of the vast majority of anons who leave nasty messages. It’s a toxic viewpoint and it implies a complete and utter lack of respect for the writer on the other side of the screen that spends hours writing and plotting and editing, just to be eviscerated by a rude anon for their efforts.
So can we please be nice to each other? Can we please respect one another? Because if we don’t, what are we even doing here?

this tea?
Nobody had warned Alisha Kane about that Harry — freaking attractive— Styles. Yet, it felt like their encounter was inescapable.
A summer tale about getting lucky, keeping up with new years resolutions, 36 questions cut into 12 (sort of)… Oh and romance.
Part I is now on tumblr & 1dff (cut in four parts there unfortunately).
