specifically thinkin abt him feeling So like. inadequate after jay n nick get together. hes just a constant reminder of the past, and how no matter what hes Never going to be good enough for nick, or even at all. hes not the rich, handsome guy next door, hes not the one with THE FUCKING BOOK ABOUT HIM. hes just nicks ex who lives with him and his new bf and it torments him every single day...

thinkin abt him Convincing himself nick is going to tell him to Get Out so he starts packing before he can get the chance to get hurt (which is. a pattern in all his relationships a teehee) and nick n jay find him like "what are you doing??? :(" and frank just. breaks. hes the number one champ of Repress Everything In Favor Of Humor and now hes been caught in this vulnerable state by these people he Genuinely cares so much about and all he can do is cry abt it (which only concerns them more)

after he finally manages to tell them that hes leaving and why it takes a while for them to actually convince him that they Want him there, and suggest he sleep in nicks bed w them that night (theres room !) and its like. hang on wheres the post

ok so like im gonna say all this and ill Try to elaborate cuz idk if ive ever shared the lore for this story or not dfghjfg i have a bad habit of forgetting to talk abt things and then assume everyone knows what im on abt yknow . anywayyy al being trans would honestly make some of his backstory make So much more sense to me

like hes from this crime family, but he breaks away from it to do his own thing cuz they dont respect him (for whatever reason,, but making him trans could actually give him a reason to do that yknow. like they wont let him join in the family "business" cuz hes a "girl" so he runs off to do his Own crimes. as a man. and its the 30s/40s so ofc his family isnt gonna be too happy abt that Anyway (one of his family members was gonna be a minor antagonist too,,, i can have more to him than just "im your brother and im mean to youuu" dfghdfkj) )

and now hell have more of a reason to so quickly and openly accept lucy (not to say that u cant just accept trans ppl for no reason. cis ppl Should be more like al However it Is still the 40s. but also like als always been the kinda guy to not care what other ppl are doing as long as it doesnt hurt him or other ppl (another reason why his family doesnt like him much, hes always been kind of a vigilante yknow) ) but if Hes trans too..... hes So happy to find someone else like him and it kinda breaks his heart that shes repressing as much of it as she can yknow,, thats why when they have this masquerade ball they have to go to (its a front for smth . idk what. this scenes been here since before i made them my ocs and i Like it ok) hes like encouraging her to wear a dress (for "undercover reasons") and be more openly Herself (and also hes flirting w her big time . he wants that cookie so effing bad /ref)

(lucy doesnt find out that als trans until later on tho.... itd probably be around the climax of the story but idk i dont even know what Happens in this damn story man dfghdfjg there would be little hints abt it tho . i love foreshadowing and ""plot twists"" that arent just out of nowhere)

but al and lucy can be like,,, narrative foils ? idk if thats the term i want but whatever. like lucys actively hiding who she is to keep herself safe, but shes Miserable pretending to be a man nearly all of the time. meanwhile al is p much fully transitioned (as much as you can be in 1942) and while he Could be happier, hes definitely not miserable like he was before yknow
