A small spot illustration I created for Renegades: The Magic Awakens by Erin Hunter was revealed in a Scholastic catalog. Fans asked to see the art up close, here it is!

In defense of the Sonic fandom, the time they shortened the upward angle of Shadow's quills by approximately 6 degrees was rather ludicrous.
when I hear some people complain of Sonic having short quills I just think about this archie panel
is this what you want??
This is Ron Lim. He was an acclaimed artist on Marvel at the time this was drawn (around 2000), and the editor at the time probably brought him on just for the clout of having a top Marvel artist working on Archie Sonic.
Unfortunately, Lim didn't make the transition from drawing superheroes to drawing Sonic characters gracefully. This panel is just barely scratching the surface of how off-model his work on Sonic got. He's pretty infamous in the Archie Sonic fandom, not helped by his being the main artist for what's commonly called the Dark Ages of Archie Sonic (Issues 75-159), making the frequently mediocre at best and awful at worst stories in the era that much more of a slog to read.
I don't know exactly which issue this panel's from, but I'm going to guess the writer was likely Karl Bollers, who was the main writer for much of the Dark Ages (Penders was mostly doing backup stories for that part of the run). Lim did do the art for a lot of Penders' stories as well, which when paired with Penders' writing was truly a match made in Hell.
I wasn’t expecting an actual answer but y’know what, I appreciate it. I learned something today about a big part of my childhood, so thank you.
