~The Last.Year Report is out~
Spotify wrapped who? Here I come bearing my favourite end of the year musical report!
64% less tracks than last year, I must up my game. And I'm described as "nostalgic, versatile, an explorer". Well, I will take that.

Sound the sirens, my favourite end of the year music report is out. And the undeniable truth is: still a run-of-the-mill indie snob stuck in the 2000s (the music by decade chart does not lie).
I’m cackling at the world map section because I’m pretty sure Orange Juice are not from Spain, and neither are Wings from Malaysia, but hey, I could be terribly wrong! Also, how dare I cheat on Jens so he doesn’t figure as my most listened Swedish artist!
New episodes released! Actors, playwrights, directors and a magician share their stage secrets.
Thanks to the #macbeth tag page, I found out there’s this podcast series by the Royal Shakespeare Company called “Interval Drinks”. And of course there’s this 2022 episode with DT, in which he disparages his suitability to play Macbeth (IMPOSTOR SYNDROME AHOY) and, in a game of “this or that”, chooses Iago over Hamlet in less than a nanosecond, so this is the Official Manifesting DT in Othello in 2026. Maybe for the RSC themselves? Look, I’ve never been to Stratford-upon-Avon, and I’d really love to...
DOCTOR WHO (2023 - ) I Joy to the World
this was outrageously fucking cute
I probably shouldn't say this, but you were my favourite construct, so bright and so alive.
Come what come may.
As with most deleted scenes, I can see why most of these were cut -- pacing, pacing, pacing, pacing! -- but the first and last are nice. And I'm always here for even a few more seconds of Donna being a badass.
Yeah, I wish the last scene especially had been included!
Macbeth to Cinema from The Donmar Warehouse
Something wicked this way comes…. a brand new production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, in cinemas across the globe from February 2025.
Recorded live at Donmar Warehouse, our sound engineer Will captured Gareth Fry’s unique binaural sound design — modifying and mixing it specially for the big screen.
“I really enjoyed spending several weeks working with Spiritland Sound Supervisor Will Thornton to create a 5.1 cinema mix from my original binaural design to sound really immersive in cinemas. I’m really pleased with how it’s sounding, and Spiritland were a pleasure to work with!”
— Gareth Fry, Sound Designer, Macbeth at The Donmar Warehouse
Unsettling intimacy and brutal action combine at breakneck speed from director Max Webster (Life of Pi, Henry V). With staging ‘full of wolfish imagination and alarming surprise’ (★★★★★ The Guardian), the immersive 5.1 cinema surround sound places the audience inside the minds of the Macbeths, asking, are we ever really responsible for our actions? Watch the trailer below.
Here's the trailer!
It’s recently come to my attention that I haven’t said a word about my London & Macbeth trip (that’s a blatant lie, I’ve just been lazy), so here goes: MACBETH WAS EVEN MORE AMAZING THAT I THOUGHT POSSIBLE. In truth I still had my doubts about the headphones but those disappeared probably as soon as the lights went out, the music came on and DT first flashed those magnificent hairy knees at me. There’s so much spit flying past and towards you (shout out to my man not born of woman, Macduff), no wonder the whole company was ill the other week.
I haven’t anything else intelligible to say that hasn’t already been said, but I’ve got a curtain call video to call my own and I’m so happy about that (I fumbled with the phone due to heightened emotions or something so of course I took a photo first).
Annoyingly, there’s a 10-photo limit on these posts? What travesty.
Met up with @theeminentlyimpractical at the infinitely gorgeous Painted Hall in Greenwich, got flirted at by our tour guide at The Globe in front of everyone else, embarrassingly enough (or was it just friendly banter? well, we shall never know now; hey, Tyler, if you’re reading this, Meghan sends her love), so all in all, excellent times were had by all.
Can I go back, like, right now?
