Hi! Just a quick update about injuries... went to the docs and was expecting to be told I had torn ligaments but got a shock when I was told that I had cellulitis. This is a deep tissue infection which was caused by my blisters. My doctor was quite concerned and said I was lucky not to have lost my foot or worse. Had blood tests that showed that I had beaten the infection without antibiotics. It will take sometime for the swelling and color to go back to normal but other than that I am ready for our next adventure. Becky is going to be running up one of our local mountains tomorrow. Bye for now and thanks for joining us. Xxx
Well folks finally made it home. The walk was fun but the best part was sharing it with Becky. She is an amazing young lady and a joy to be with. I couldn't have made it without her carrying my bag, planning our stops, managing the washing and organizing the food...but the thing I have appreciated the most is that she is kind and caring and even when I was not at my best she never stopped encouraging me. I love her so much and have my fingers crossed I will get asked to join her on her next adventure. Love you Becky. XXX.
Look what I found at the end of the Camino....could life get any better?
Eating is a big part of the recovery process.
We love chocolate con churros!
We love Santiago!
We did it! Now its time to never walk again! Just kidding, I don't know what we're going to do with ourselves when we don't have to get up and walk in the morning. Probably just sleep in ;)
Collapsed in front of the cathedral. There is nothing like this feeling.
She did it! 33 days of walking with knee injuries, foot injuries, shared bathrooms, crinkle-cuts, no-pack 100k "pilgrims," and Spanish food. All hail the mighty mouse!
Walking into the city...
Bye bye boots! No more blisters! They are definitely going to boot hell.
Its only the last day of this Camino
Taken yesterday. Tonight we are going to sleep with only 22k between us and Santiago!
Turns out its actually delicious. Who would have thought? :)
