One of ΟUΑT’s main themes is “believe and it’ll become real”.
(To the point where it it’s the cope-out way of writing themselves out of situations or where it doesn’t make sense, the duckling didn’t believe it was swan and it became one, it was a swan all along, that’s why it grew up ot be a swan, it didn’t ~magically~ change. But anyway.)
So far we’ve had:
Εmma believing in Henry’s tales being real –> True Love kiss, she broke the curse, his and he woke up and everyone’s and they remembered.
Εmma believed that Storybrooke was her home –> her magic worked, opened a portal back to present/Storybrooke.
Εmma believing Regina saying that she can change her fate –> Εmma did not give into the darkness, was talked down by Regina, Εmma changed her fate (like she said in 6x11), Rumpel’s plan failed.
Εmma believing she can defeat the hooded figure –> she did already once.
Εmma believing in love (like she said in 5x10, that she was “giving into love”) and went to the Underworld to share her heart and True-Love save Hοοk –> she succee– wait, she didn’t, did she? Actually she kept on failing. Who, the Savior, the hero, Hοοk’s supposedly “TL”. Oops.
Εmma believed that Hοοk could fight the Darkness –> And again, fail. (Dear, just because he was calling his innate douchebag-gery as “darkness” because he saw that you were forgiving that when he was meticulously studying your interactions with Regina and he wanted to find a way to bed you, it doesn’t mean that it was. Here’s your proof: when confronted with actual darkness, he can’t even put up a fight, doesn’t even want to and he gleefully hurts you and murders people in front of you when you are begging him not to. And he’s supposedly in his best state, in “love”, in “True Love” that breaks every curse and it did literally nothing for him. Gee, I wonder why.)
Εmma kept believing in him and that they’d fight the Darkness “together” (lol, I guess she didn’t get the memo that it’s Hοοk and his trophy girlfriend”), she kept stating her faith in him, she was open and kept pouring her heart to him, (so no -stupid- excuse of “walls”) –> Hοοk was playing her & manipulating her from the first moment.
Εmma believes she has a future and is “happy” –> still no curse breaking [so if they write it later, it’ll be TOO LATE, since in order to have had been believable, it should had already happened, since Emma has been in the supposedly right state for it. A moment that no one can dispute with silly-a$$ excuses: the end in 5x22. Also every single moment in Camelot before Hοοk died from a knick, since they both wanted the curse broken, so why didn’t it break? 0:-)] But the world’s belief in Hοοk does her literally no good at all.
PS. All those things above worked not only because ΕEmma believed in them, but because they were real and the only thing needed was for Emma to believe (in) them. Now, the “love” between Εmma and Hοοk isn’t real, isn’t love, just obsession on his part (do notice how it happened literally the moment Rumpel made him give up on his quest for revenge & he exchanged one obsession for another, since otherwise he was without a “purpose” & he’s nothing if not obsessive) and desperation on hers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
