I would lie if I say I’m a Santa Muerte devotee, to me death is part of the circle of life and not a specific deity I worship. However, I do respect death by honoring the memory of those whose candle might’ve finish lighting this world, but it was only because it was time for their sparkle to shine beyond the living. If the universe gave us that one in a million chance to live this life, it was not in vain, and as long as we always remember those who have left us, they will live forever in our hearts... As a witch, both All Hollows Eve and Día de Muertos are very sacred celebrations. Not only is the day when the veil between the death and the living is the thinnest, it is also a time to celebrate both my Celtic and Mexican heritage. All Hallows Eve has its origin in ancient Ireland and Día de Los Muertos in ancient Mexico. I’m aware they I defer in traditions and costumes, but I believe that being a witch is all about creating your own craft, and just like my ancestors mixed their flesh to create me, and pass down the powerful and diverse dna I carry in my blood, I honor them by continuing their beautiful traditions and rituals, as well as creating my own with the influence of their cultures.
