Living behind doors always seemed to be the one thing that made me miserable. Even looking at them made me want to rip them to shreds and claw at them violently but I knew that would not do any good. The doors were large and built of strong stone, even if I tried to bust through them I would not make much progress.
That was untilโฆ Well, everything happened. Sneaked out and met N, got possessed by the absolute solver, went on a mission to get more answers and thenโฆ ugh, Tessa had to randomly appear in the story. Long story short, everything was sorted out and now that Cyn is gone (well not technically gone but attached to the end of my tail), everything has become more peaceful.
Mom was around, (though I wish she wasnโt due to all her nagging), and I finally have some โfriendsโ to follow on my journey.
And the best part of living was that he was hereโฆ N. At first I just saw him as any other maniacal and bloodthirsty murderdrone butโฆ he was sweet and honestly pretty cute at random moments. I loved snuggling up with him while watching angsty anime and holding his hand through blizzards.
I stretch out my arms, a thoughtful smile lining my face. I heaved out a sigh, a long sigh. It was 4 years after the events of Copper 9. So I was roughly 19 years oldโฆ man does time fly.
I had argued with my father a few months back to take down the large doors that had kept us locked in. Since the population of drones was growing and also I suspected that keeping people locked in and hidden from the moonlight would make people more likely to lose their sanity.
Khan huffed and mom agreed. So, instead of large doors we expanded, then built a huge stronghold from the same building material as the doors. The working process was quick due to speedy teamwork but at the same damn time, they were quite lazy and N, V, and I had to help.
Success. Thank Robo-Jesus or whatever.
I managed to escape through my window; N and I planned a secret date to stargaze. I gingerly grabbed the window board and then hopped down.
The cold breeze was sharp and I shivered about, feeling the cold deep into my metal flesh. I sprinted down the street, light flurries of snowflakes falling down and melting on my forehead.
There I saw him, facing towards the abyss full of glimmering white stars that flickered gleefully in the sky. I felt like gravity was not real, when I saw him face me, his eyes were warm like friendly yellow happy faces.
I trot over and he pats the snow, signaling me to sit down. I do and he pulls me closer to his side, his warmth immediate.
โSomeone is pretty eager to see me.โ I tease and he blushes with a shy smile.
โWell I missed you.โ He giggled then added. โEven though it has been about 3 hours.โ
I respond with a laugh and my insides feel warm and fuzzy when he is around. Like I'm his safety and will always remain that way by being his shield from this negative world.
I took the advantage to reach for his hands, our fingers intertwining. He seems surprised and then smiles, resting his chin on my head, humming softly. I giggle a bit, his warmth genuinely comforting.
He turns his gaze to the painted sky full of stars that illuminated an eerie glow. I meet his gaze and realize he is staring at the planets, specifically Neptune. The round planet emitted a navy glow that was dim but still seen, like freshly picked blueberries. He huffs and wraps his arms around his knees, his warmth fading as he pulls away.
I tilt my head in confusion. โYou good?โ I ask and he gives me a dry nod. I know that look, when he is curious but always feels like he is wrong. I squeeze his hand again. โTalk to me.โ
He looks at me, his eyes melting over my own. He chuckles lightly and then looks back up into the dark atmosphere. โDo you everโฆ Wonder if any of our kind is up there?โ He points to Neptune specifically and I also start to wonder too.
I mean, JCJenson never said that they wanted to expand their company on any other planetโฆ but what if they did? Maybe there are other workerdrones or murderdrones on those planets? Still surviving and thriving thoroughly.
I start to ponder but Nโs question is floating in the air and I can see he is growing quite impatient in hopes that I respond. I casually shrug my shoulders. โHell if I know. They probably would have froze to death.โ I say with a mocking tone. N seems disappointed with my answer. I huff. โThere may be a possibility? But โฆ we canโt confirm anything of the sort.โ I get up and reach my hand down to him, his eyes sparkling. โLetโs get a better veiw.โ
I grins and accepts my hand, his hands warm as i lift him off the snowy floor. We trot down throught the path of houses and glimmering lightposts. I feel his pulse, excited but also nervous. Does he like when im close? Is he scared that I will pull away? I squeeze his hand, syiring a reaction and his whole body basically tenses up. I canโt help but giggle a bit and he shyly gives me a half smile.
We stumble upon the large thick gates of the stronghold and we spread our wings, taking off into the sky. I always love the adrenaline while soaring with the wind currents, doing barrel rolls and sky dives. The way the moonlight bathes my face and how it lights the night sky. Itโs beautiful. Especially because N is here, our wings touching as we glide.
I halt and hover in the sky, my wings beating. N follows my move and we both stare unblinkingly at the planet in the far distance, swirls of navy blue with cyan. The winds blow softly against us and N shows off by doing a front flip. I roll my eyes playfully.
Apart from the nice sounds of trees swaying, there is another sound that sounds likeโฆ a facuet running and the smell of oil? N picks up the scent and his expression goes from happy to concerned. He looks at me then flys down. I follow closley behind.
Was someone hurt? Was it the leftover โbloodโ from the battle all that time ago?
Nโs feet reach the ground and he gingerly walks around, his hands shaking a little. I land beside him and he jumps a little. We carry on, the scent of the irony smell growing stronger as we carry on deeper into the depths of the forest.
N break the silence by gasping. I cover his mouth. โShhh!โ I hiss, but then look in his direction to see a drone, rotting. I squint my eyes and N turns his hand into a gun, slowly walking toward the drone.
As we get closer, the drone looks like no other workerdrone or murderdrone I have ever seen. They had white armor along their chest along with bright icy blue eyes. They had a sharp, angular silhouette like ice shards which caused an uneasy feeling in my stomach. Instead of plain black for their blood, it was a very deep midnight blue. This drone was wearing a helmet that looked like a crown that govered their whole head.
I gulped down, realising they had wings and a sword in their hands, but the blade was made of tempered ice.
โWhat the fuโฆโ I curse, the drone scarying me more than Cyn did.
โOh giggle.โ Cyn says, the head on my tail poking at the unknown drone.
N reaches down and touches the drone cautiously, then reaches for its sword. โWhoever and whatever this thing isโฆโ He starts, swallowing. โThey came here to start something.โ
I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE FIRST CHAPTER! MWAHAHHAHAH! Honestly this was fun to write. SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG! Thank you for reading this first chapter of my MurderDrones AU, Snow of Neptune! (none of this is canon btw if anyone is stupid enough to think that it is.)
