What comes to your mind when you think of the Heisei era?
Honestly, how many of us can recall Haku's full name, right from the top of our head?😆
Even though Haku may be the most prominent role, Miyu was very young back then (plus, as he also said once, he can't do that voice anymore), so it's just a distant memory for him. No wonder, it didn't come to his mind during this talk until Shimono-san mentioned it.
A fun fact I'd like to add here too: His senpai like to tease him for not having lived in and known the Showa era (1926 - 1988), and Miyu would respond that he was born in Showa (albeit in the last year). But actually, Miyu is fully a child from the Heisei era, because he was born one month into Heisei (which already started in January 1988).🤣
Yoasobi "Countdown! Like! Like!": Top three seiyuu you'd like to have a hotpot with
Number 3: Eguchi Takuya
"Somehow, for me it was quite rare to get to work with someone of the same age, and we met when we were both very young. And we also sang together. Moreover, what's nice about Egu is that he often praises me (laughs). He would say things like 'Miyu-kun is the bright star of our generation'. He would say things like that too in front of other people, like, when we meet senpais from my stage projects. It's a bit embarassing, but I don't really mind it either.😁"
Number 2: Uchiyama Kouki
"During my 20s especially, I got to work with him in many projects and we started to hang out together a lot, like travelling or eating out. Still do. We get along very well. He's got a sensibility that is quite different to others'. A very unique person. Well, Egu is also one of a kind. But Ucchi is another different type of unique. The interesting thing about Ucchi is, that he would suprise you with a side you wouldn't expect. Especially when he's drunk, you'd see yet another side of him. And though I do feel a bit bad about it, I would use that opportunity to ask him all kinds of questions to get funny answers from him. (laughs)"
Number 1: Suzumura Kenichi and "Yang-san" (Onosaka Masaya)
"I couldn't decide between these two, so I put them both on the list. First of all, they are very good at cooking, right! They are particular in that regard and with them in charge of cooking, you know that the hotpot will be very delicious. They are both very good at telling funny stories too. It's always fun with them! I just met 'Yang-san' yesterday, and just seeing him makes me smile automatically. And Suzu-san, I know him since middle school and he's always looked after me and dotes on me."
"I imagine that it would be quite fun to get together with these four and have a hotpot."
burn out
Internet hugs for anyone else out there dealing with burn out or other mental and/or physical issues that make it hard to interact right now
Anison Project: Irino Miyu's song 愛すること (from "Who I am") got nominated on Anison as 'one of the exquisite masterpieces in 2025'!
ラジオ体操第一 is a japanese gymnastic routine, that can be generally seen exercised in elementary schools as well.
And that every japanese person (should) know to perform from memory. 😂
Black OnyX - OnyXXX
Mikado Akira (Irino Miyu)
Komazawa Noi (Matsuoka Yoshitsugu)
Komazawa Rai (Uchida Yuuma)
Cosmic Princess Kaguya!
"It's tomorrow (japanese). It's tomorrow. It's TOMORROW (katakana spelling). It's Tomorou. I will watch it tomorrow before the performance (of Broadway Bound). I hope you all will watch it without fail. It's starting. Miyu"
Haa... Miyu is so cute! ❤️️ (And his wordplay reminds me of Cyno.😁) Btw, I didn't realize that his chara's name sounds similar to 'tomorrow'.😆
Miyu is back for good! (Well, until his stage play in December...)
Finally! He's back in Yoasobi!😆 (Though we have another week break with Connect episodes...). After a long run with 44 shows of his stage play, he must be quite exhausted, esp since it's again another quite physical demanding role (apparently, he was jumping and running around a lot). But I'm glad that he looks so healthy, albeit slightly thinner though. At least, he didn't lose as much weight as he did after Rouningai early this year.
Shimono-san and Miyu also find it irritating when people smoke in the street, outside of designated places. Esp while walking in front of you. I can't agree more! What I really appreciate about Japan is, that you cannot just smoke anywhere in the public and there are enclosed areas for smokers. I wished, we have that here too.😑
It's also neat to know that Miyu prefers sweet Crépes over salty ones, and that plain steamed buns are his favourite too (I love that he actually called them Mantou!)
Aaand, after the Connect week, it's Halloween 🎃 and they plan to dress up!! Can't wait to see that!!🧛♂️
Yoasobi Premium: Who can hold "a" the longest
A viewer asked them for a contest of who can make the longest "aah!".
My reaction was like Shimono-san! That's the musical stage actor for you!! 😮 (Tbh, I thought that it would be a close win for Shimono-san, since he's famously got a large chest.)
Thoughts I had growing up abused:
I'm so lucky to be able to have a roof over my head. Some people don't have that much.
I'm lucky my family feeds me, and I have to make sure to eat everything I'm given. Some children don't get to eat.
Imagine how worse things could be for me if my parent was more like (insert an extremely violent criminal you've heard about )
If my parents knew what I was thinking right now they'd kill me (I had angry thoughts)
I need to remember my parents had way worse childhood than me and I'm having it easy so it's normal for them to be resentful and angry at me all the time
They don't mean all the things they say to me, it just gets out in anger because they don't think it's fair for me to have an easier life than they did
I'm sure my parents would act differently if they just understood. They always just think it's not serious when I say anything. It's my fault for joking around sometimes.
I'm sure everyone has it just as bad as me but we don't talk about it.
I wonder how everyone is keeping it together so well if things are this bad for everyone?
I must be the weakest most pathetic out of everyone. I can't have anyone know.
My situation isn't that bad because bad things are not happening all the time. Right now nobody is doing anything to me. So I need to stop feeling like this.
What is wrong with me that I can't feel normal?
If only I got kidnapped/tortured/trafficked. Then my feelings would be explained. Plus I could scream out loud which I really want to do but it would bother people so I don't.
Is it okay for me to exist? Would things be better for everyone if I was gone?
If only I never existed. There's no way out of this now.
I'm selfish for wanting to die because it would upset my parents if they found me dead. They would be so mad I didn't think about them when doing that. I can't be that insensitive.
I just need to get over myself. I'm not that important. It doesn't matter. There's nothing special about me. I'm just being dramatic and making things up.
I thought all of these were normal thoughts to have. They're not. This is the mindset of a child who is cornered, consistently guilty, ashamed, making allowances for people who hurt them and blaming themselves for every symptom of abuse they suffer, while being terrified it would get worse. Abused children are forced to think like that.
Inner Child The older I get, the more I keep my inner child locked inside. I used to talk more about my past, about my dysfunctional family and how they've hurt me. But these days I feel pressured to be positive, to only paint happy things because the world is sad enough already.
Since being diagnosed with CPTSD, I've gotten therapy and it has helped a lot. But that doesn't stop the nightmares from happening and there are days when I can't do anything but cry. I used to draw myself strangling my younger self, but it never dies. There will always be a part of me that longs for a happy family, for parents that love me. Maybe one day I'll learn to co-exist with that part of myself.
my beloved mayayan & kaijin, おめでとう🎉💕
Top 10 of seiyuu you want to hear voicing ghosts and monsters
Numan does this type of ranking regularly (monthly, I think?), asking to vote for a specific topic/question. I think this is the first time I see Miyu listed among the top 10 in numan (the others are featured there regularly, esp Nobu, Saku, Kamiyan ofc, and Fukujun). And the topic is related to sth that I (and Miyu) am fan of: ghosts and horror stuff.😆
Yusa Kouji
Seki Toshihiko
Fukuyama Jun
Sakurai Takahiro
Irino Miyu
Kamiya Hiroshi
Uchiyama Kouki
Toki Shunichi
Okamoto Nobuhiko
Murase Ayumu
Coming in at 5th place is Miyu Irino. He’s appeared in a number of hit titles, including Osomatsu-san as Todomatsu Matsuno, Haikyuu!! as Kōshi Sugawara, and Yurei Deco as Finn. In addition to anime and games, he's also active in dubbing for foreign films and TV shows.
Irino is known for his delicate, clear-toned voice that often carries a sense of fragility. Fans who voted for him shared comments like, "I want him to suddenly scare me with that cute voice," and "His unique charm really suits an ethereal, otherworldly vibe." Others mentioned, "He seems more like a kind ghost than a scary one," highlighting the gentle quality of his voice.
Edit: Forgot to add some of the quoted comments that were included in the article.
■ What Everyone's Saying ■ "The horror-themed reading performance was absolutely amazing!" (Age/Occupation undisclosed) I think this person probably referred to his live reading "Confession" that he did with Kazuki-kun this summer. "I want him to play the kind of ghost that suddenly creeps you out—with a super cute voice!!" (17, Student)
"I think his voice has a boyish charm and a unique allure that really fits a mysterious, otherworldly vibe." (Age/Occupation undisclosed)
"If Miyu-kun were to play a ghost, I feel like it wouldn’t be scary—it’d be more gentle or even funny. But I know he could still pull off the serious moments too." (27, Office Worker)
Genshin Impact 5th Anniversary - Irino Miyu comment
This is so cute, that they actually animated Cyno to match Miyu's comment (like him clapping or chuckling while blushing).😍
