Figure I’ll pass a few of the lessons on while I’m here..”, Cable nodded slightly, expression sympathetic. He smiled a bit her way. He had the feeling she was going to be among the better of his students, in spite of her attitude. Or perhaps because of it. Maybe this timeline wasn’t going to be so bad after all. “I’ll sign you up for some lessons. When you’re ready for them. I’ll be there.”

He was weird but not in a bad way. And if he could help, she would accept it. She didn’t want to get attached but she would learn from him. Enough to protect everyone. She gave off an air of indifference but that was it. It was a facade. She cared a lot. Just about certain things. “When do you start? Xavier tends to make us constantly be learning some bullshit.”

Seeing that smile on her face was as REASSURING as a fire drill. He was honestly grateful she wasn’t glaring at him this time around. “I had a feeling you’d be up to shooting kids. And yikes, that sounds BAD coming out of my mouth.” But he didn’t care. The only person around was the taxi driver and he seemed preoccupied with the radio up front.

“So how’s your life? Got any EXCITING drama? I LOVE drama. I feel like the mother from Mean Girls.”

“Kids sometimes deserve it.” Most of the time they didn’t but the ones who got all cocky about their skills could deserve to be taken down a peg or two. “Sounds worse that I didn’t say no.” She shrugged. The driver didn’t give a shit about them.

She rolled her eyes. “Nothing happens at the mansion apart from when it blows up.”

“Take it up with Xavier. Didn’t pick the name.”, Cable smirked faintly… he couldn’t help but agree. Walking around the school to him was like walking around a museum… the 21st century was not the 39th by any stretch of the imagination. But it was the home he had been born in… even if he hadn’t grown up in it as many of the students had. Teaching in it as an adult was a strange feeling, but one he had to get used to. “Mastering your telepathic ability’s will mean mastering your fear of what happened. Confronting and coming to terms with it. Hiding from it will only make the nightmare’s worse. And losing more control over your powers. I’d know. You have strength, I can feel it in you. You’re stronger than you believe.”

She’d met the place home to her. Her room was her solace from everything. And the other teenagers were sort of her friends. Her demeanour and snark tended to push more people away than she’d ever drawn close. It was why she jumped at the chance to help Wade. He didn’t care and gave as good as he took in terms of barbs. She’d have to actually think about her death. About every dream she’d had the night before and the one mere moments before the sentinals attacked. She couldn’t promise she’d do it from the off but she would try. “You’re pretty fucking smart. I can see why Xavier called you in. Wade isn’t nearly this intellectual. At least, most of the time he isn’t.”

“Psychic classes, military strategy, history, temporal physics and the Danger Room. Multitasking is one of my talents, necessary in the world I grew up in.”, Cable’s telepathic tone informed her with a faint smile and nod to the girl. She was troubled and needed guidance… many like her did, as he had needed help once. Now he intended to do the same for her. “I expect I’ll see you in a few of them. If you wish for advanced psychic lessons, away from the others, I can teach you privately. Telepathy training works better between two telepaths. My mother taught me that. Taught me everything.”

“The Danger Room sounds like a pop punk album title.” She probably did need the help. She had only really used her nuclear abilities and had left her psychic powers behind with Ellie. But what if they could actually help? She had only seen death with them. Including her own. “I haven’t really done much with my telepathy since I came back to life. Seeing your own death tends to put a damper on expanding THAT route of my abilities.”

Thank God. Nothing important, then.

Turning his attention back to the issue at hand, Tony addresses the kid. ‘So, hey, new topic      how about helping me kill a massive slimy invertebrate with anger issues? It’ll be fun. Something to…tweet about, or whatever it is you kids do now.’

Her eye brow raised even more. That didn’t sound little. That sounded like Iron Man fucking up and having to come get help. Now he was REALLY like Wade.

“What was that?” She had her jumpsuit on already having taken to sleeping in it just encase she was needed. Her clothing wasn’t fire proof and if she needed to blow she didn’t want to be naked. Wade always came at night if he needed help and she was used to being woken to catastrophe.

She was already in as soon as she heard the explosions. “Fuck you’re old.” She retorted with an eyeroll. “You gonna fly me there?”

“As can I. Dreams of potential futures, that I may or may not travel to one day. Dreams of Apocalypse.”, Cable’s telepathic tone replied gently to the girl. He was careful about how he accessed her mind… he did not delve into her memory’s, but could sense her emotions. It was more than clear she would benefit from his psychic classes. Many of the kids around the School could. Capable as Xavier was, he didn’t understand the students as well as he could. “You won’t die again. Not on my watch, while I teach here. I won’t let any of my students die. By the time I’m done here, you’ll all be prepared for the dangers that await you, out there. I’ve seen them, fought them… and so can you. You’ll be able to use your powers in ways you never imagined.”

Someone who understood. She hadn’t met many others who saw the future since coming back. This version of the world was strange and different. She was still working everything out. Xavier had been working with her but she tended not to want to develop that power any more than she had to. “Are you just doing psychic classes or are you focusing on all types of mutants?”

He was absolutely certain she could take care of herself, with her powers and whatnot, but she was still a KID. She has yet to experience adult things, and he sincerely hoped she would CHERISH the time she has left about not worrying about anything before she reaches adulthood.

“How do you feel about thrift shopping? And lazer tag right after?” Kids these days liked thrift shopping, RIGHT? He could get behind that; it was like an ADVENTURE, to see all the different types of things for sale.

She didn’t see herself as a kid. Kids had no responsibilities. Instead, they had normal lives. She was a mutant and that basically skipped her into being an adult. Especially with her powers. She had to help people and try not blow them up.

“Sure.” The lazer tag was what really interested her. Getting to shoot some kids who don’t know shit would make her day.

“Your powers. You aren’t just a walking bomb. You have a degree of telepathy as well, don’t you?”, Cable’s low tone inquired suddenly, raising a brow her way. He thought he could sense it before, but now he was certain, studying her closely. When he spoke to her again, he did so with his telepathic voice reaching out into her mind gently, lips remaining still. “Perhaps I should have opened with speaking to you like this. You’re young, you have potential to grow and master your psychic powers. Use them in ways you haven’t imagined. I can help you there. As my mother and sister helped me.”

“I can see the future sometimes as well.” She wasn’t spooked by the voice in her head. It was actually calming. Someone else who shared a telepathic power like her. Reading minds was something she hadn’t really used much. Her mental powers were what scared her more than her bomb abilities. “Alright, I’ll give this a shot. But if I die again I get to say I told you so.” She was sure that Xavier would have told him that she remembered dying, possibly in a different universe. She wasn’t too sure herself. Just that Genosha had happened. She hadn’t survived it. And yet, she had.

He remembered thinking he was an adult when he was her age, but that was FAR from the truth. “Listen, I try my best. It’s not like I can be PG. I’m just not built for that. It was complicated… even to him, after all this time. Professor X had brought him on for a reason, despite their differing methods and beliefs. The old man was no fool. He nodded slightly at her correction. A stranger alias than his own… but they all had one. And had their preferences. He could respect that much. “Of course, Negasonic. You can call me Cable. Outside of class, at any rate.”

“Yeah, keep telling yourself that.” She’d already lived two lives. It was why she stuck to her code name. Ellie had died on Genosha. Negasonic on the other hand was just a mantel that she’d picked up from herself. She wondered if he had known her. Her past life was hazy at the best of times but her own death she remembered clearly. “Okay. Cable it is.” It would be Cable in and out of lessons. She had that rebellious streak most teenagers had but hers was harder. More a defence than anything else.

Deciding to overlook the whole Deadpool insult, Tony gave the de-scaled Lisbeth Salander a cursory examination. If she was at the X-Mansion, it followed that she was a mutant. And probably powerful. On the other hand, she looked pretty young-

JARVIS’s warning added a whole new urgency to the situation. Tony was already getting a headache thinking of all the paperwork he’d have to, ha, worm his way out of if he let Lady Liberty be damaged.

Dammit. He didn’t have time for this. Going to the trouble of finding Xavier, waking him up, and explaining the situation would take way too long…and besides, being laughed at by Charles Xavier was not really on Tony’s to-do list.

Whatever. He would just have to improvise.

‘So, kid. How do you feel about worms?’

Why he’d come to the mansion was beyond her. But it clearly wasn’t good. She could just feel that this was another house call to ask for help. She could handle whatever it was. Being a human bomb did tend to help a lot.

She raised an eyebrow. Worms? Tony fucking Stark had flown all the way here to ask for help with worms?

“Don’t love ‘em or hate ‘em. Why? You got a worm problem?” If he did, it wouldn’t be that hard. Unless it was huge. That might cause some concern.

That’s quite a mouthful, don’t ya think? ❞ That had to be his immediate response, of course it did, as his mind was slightly taken-aback by the strangely long title she had given herself and how bizarrely dangerous it sounded; but he wasn’t one to judge by code-names - after all, he used to be named after an infamous member of the carnivorous mustelidae family tree. Her actual personality seemed rather straight-to-the-point, a trait he admired, respected and often times used himself – which only made her achingly elongated nickname seem even more ridiculously ironic. With this and the addition of her truthfulness regarding the future - he already gained a massive amount of admiration for her, yet, her honesty about how awful the upcoming years would be only weakened Logan’s ability to feel happy even more than usual. At least she had the determination to try and change it.

❝  Right. Well, what exactly do I have to do with this? In your dream I mean - how did I come into this? I know it’s my house and all but, do I actually have any sort of relevancy in the future? I ain’t gonna expect you to know all the answers to the questions, it’s just, I wanna know what I can do to help. ❞ A sincere tone was sewn into his oddly gruff persona, it was a true tone of sincerity and reasoning although and was by no means fake, he meant it with all his memories in mind. He was beyond ready to change things if chance would finally let him. ❝  I’m not really sure how I can help ya with findin’ out how to trigger the change. I reckon that would be too hard of a task but, if there’s anythin’ you need to question to help ya with this whole thing, don’t hesitate to ask me. ❞ Logan gave a small nod and a kind flash of a smile before sitting himself down, thinking about how he could reset everything to make the terrible mistakes of the past vanish. FOREVER. Like hefty weights were lifted off his shoulders after one hundred and fifty torturous years, allowing him to breathe and sleep properly again, allowing him to ultimately forgive himself. 

She just shrugged. Her name was chosen a long time ago and it was more brand loyalty as Wade would call it that she stuck with it. That and her real name brought too much pain. It was easier being the more ridiculous name than Ellie. She didn’t know all the details. Just feelings. Flashes of a future than was bad. Xavier hadn’t been able to help. He’d only seen the same mess in her head and she had left to find out what it was.

“You’re involved.” She put her fingers to her temple to try and recall anything. Being at the location helped. “A battle will happen here. A fucking awful one. I can’t tell which side is which. But neither side is coming out of it well.” Slowly and a little shakily, her hand dropped. “I don’t know when it will happen, but it feels soon.” She felt useless in that moment. A messenger of war without all the details.

He’d been certain there was more to her than the tough front she put on. How it usually was with teenagers. He had raised a daughter himself, after all. “Don’t worry about it, Ellie. You have potential.”

“You sound sure of yourself.” She scoffed. He would have to prove his worth. Considering how she’d died before she wasn’t exactly happy with her powers. It was why she stuck to the more explosive part of her abilities. Her mind was a lot harder. She bristled a little at him so liberally using her real name. “Negasonic.” She corrected.

He snorted. “No.” Well, he loved music, but THAT wasn’t his idea of fun. “Coachella’s over, so no.” Wade looked around the lawn before heading out back into the taxi he came in, scooting farther towards the other window to give her space. “My type of fun is skee ball, pot brownies, and skinny dipping. But for you, I’m keeping it PG. Like Jumanji.”

She slid into the taxi. Didn’t he drive? Or did he just like not paying taxi drivers? It was honestly surprising they kept sending people for him. “I’m not a kid, you know.” She rolled her eyes. “And I watched you kill tons of people. That PG in your eyes?”
