Flames danced within the expansive hearth, emanating warmth throughout the room as if the many abled bodies within it already did not emit enough heat. Nonetheless, they did emit other things that caused the man’s nose to wrinkle at first and his ears to ring by their gregarious garble. Violet eyes remained averted, however, since he had not come here for trouble. He merely came for a drink with his crew.
His men have not set foot on land for about a month or so, and they were longing for a night out at a tavern. Also, considering their recent victorious catch of a small pirate ship, he thought he should reward them with a few rounds of ale, rum, or a nice sip of beer. Most of his crew were new sea legs as he was pleasantly surprised how well they held themselves. However, if they ran into a much larger ship, he wasn’t so confident they would all be sitting here at this very moment nursing some kind of intoxicating liquid.
"Well hello there mister." Violet eyes glanced up from his drink, thoughts derailed as he was met with a pale pretty face. He nearly sighed at how young the lanky girl seemed to be while a dark brow rose at how tight fitting her bodice was. It suited her nicely, accentuating her curves in the most delectable of ways. However he was in no mood to indulge her. She was just another whore searching for a lap to sit upon for the night, and although it had been some time since he had anyone warming his sheets, he had no desire on changing that anytime soon. The sea was a demanding mistress as it was. He did not need anymore. Luckily that night, he had changed out of his uniform. Had he waltzed in with his royal seal, he would be a flame to the moths that flittered around the darkened tavern.
He went to politely decline the woman’s advances when one of his crewmen’s voice cut him off. He was leaning rather heavily upon some poor woman’s table. He recognized her as the one who had foolishly decided to buy rounds for everyone. With a relenting sigh, he excused himself from the whore, and went to drag the drunken crewman away before he did anything foolishly.
"A pretty thing like you must have a name. C’mon, what is it? Ya can whisper it in my ear."
Roderich sighed once more at the leering man’s horrid mannerisms as he cleared his throat to catch the man’s attention. At the sight of his commander, the man froze. Even through his drunken haze, he was wise enough to not cross the Austrian, as he swiftly sputtered an apology and scampered off. Meanwhile, Roderich shook his head lightly in disapproval before offering the woman a polite smile.
"Excuse me, Miss, I do apologize for my friend’s tactlessness. If there is anything I can do to make it up to you, please do not hesitate to ask."
