A Viking penny with an image of Thor’s hammer with a “Hand of God” resting on top on the reverse, and a drawn bow and arrow (possibly a misrepresentation of a ship) on the front.
Cast out of silver.
Made in 920 at the mint of Regnald, the Viking king at York.
Currently held at the British Museum.
Three luxuriously decorated disc-on-bow brooches.
Cast out of bronze, with gilding and silver, garnet, cloisonné, and shell inlay.
Made in the 500s for an Anglo-Saxon aristocrat(s) in Gotland, Sweden.
Currently held at the British Museum.
Pretty medieval manuscript of the day is another lovely illustration in grisaille, shades of grey, but highlighted with blues and gilding. Really lovely!

Made in the 8th-9th century for an Avar nobleman in Austria.
