Walker Guest House - Paul Rudolf

El riguroso orden de cuatro cuadrados del interior, crea un contrapunto a la organización exterior. Cada uno de los cuadrantes interiores se dividen en zonas funcionales como sala, comedor, servicio y dormitorio, percibiendo otros arreglos interiores semejantes a los barcos de Rudolph.

La casa se distingue por sus contraventanas de madera y el sistema de pesos y aparejos que se utiliza para abrir y cerrar dichas ventanas. Estos artilugios en forma de barco trajeron el modernismo fresco de la casa cerca de su contexto de la playa con la brisa de Florida. Este desafió al estilo internacional, pero también empezó a prefigurar algunas de las innovaciones arquitectónicas que vendrían más tarde, como la capacidad de ajuste que permite al usuario controlar su entorno.

The Washington Post on Where the U.S. doesn’t fly

Following the downing of Malaysia Airlines 17 over Ukraine on Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) expanded an existing regulation that prohibited certain flights from operating in the region.

The FAA has been regularly issuing airspace restrictions and prohibitions for U.S. airplanes that travel through potentially hostile airspace. As of Friday, July 18, here are the places for which the agency has issued flight prohibitions and restrictions.

RebildPorten’s distinctive expression and character are derived directly from Nature’s own formal language and elements. The structure is designed as a hymn to Nature and the hills and forest, next to which it is situated. It is created in the encounter of building and nature and appears as a sculptural structure made of bluff timber, thus making the building accessible to the eye of the observer – very similar to a forest’s opening and closing when one moves through it, looking upwards through the branches’ chaotic network of crossing lines.”
