Setting My Budget--What do I Need to Know?

You’ve gone through the process of taking a look at what kind of flooring fits with your lifestyle and decided on the type of flooring you want to purchase. Now it’s time to start looking at the cost and better establishing your true budget.

You may have been looking around your local flooring and carpet store and noticing the signs telling the price per square foot. And you may even be thinking about a do-it-yourself project.  If this is the case, you’ll want to factor in the cost of your time as well as buying or renting special tools if necessary.

It’s time to start asking questions and uncovering what that price per square foot includes and what’s involved in the preparation and installation process that will contribute to that cost.

For example, if you’re considering carpet, does the square foot price include the padding?  What are the actual materials included? Are any overages being factored in to that cost?

Some additional questions you’ll need to consider and obtain answers before proceeding:
