Mental StretchQuest
Comfort Task: 3/5
I decided to play a brain trainer game off mindgames.com This game analyzed my memory and reaction modes. Everyone that I know says I have a bad memory. Surprisingly with this game I opted for the harder version and I still managed to score 120/180 which is huge for me. I also played the logic challenge which plays with your mind using different colours, numbers and letters to see if you can fill them in. Overall I also did very well on this game. I never use to play any mind games but after gives these a shot, I slightly got addicted and kept going. I think it helped me focus more and helped build up my brains performance. I would say I'm sitting at a 4/5 now after playing a few mind games to boost my brain skillsÂ
Terrible Task-ware
I found this terrible task-ware website called Blinkee.com which sells all different types of light up jewelry. The website hurts your eyes to look at with all the different colours shooting out against the black. I redesigned the positioning of the tabs. The website originally had them placed on the bottom of the website which didn't make sense because a person would need to hunt them down. I brought them to the top of the page along with their social media platforms. I also categorized their products as they had the scattered on the left side of the page. The shipping page was dull and lacked organizations. Therefore, I set it up in a simpler way so that a customer can proceed with an easy check up thats proper and well formatted.Â
Curiosity Stretch Quest
I was heating up my lunch last week and I saw a group of people doing a native dance. They were stomping their feet and using different instruments. I was so curious to know what they were doing that I forgot I had lunch heating up in the microwave.Â
I usually don't talk to people that I don't know never mind ask them random questions. I walked up to one of the girls and asked her what they were doing. She looked at me as if I have been living under a rock but I honestly had no clue. She told me they were doing the Native Ghost dance. I asked her what it does and she said that its a spiritual dance that the Indians use to drive out their common enemy. I thought it was the coolest thing ever!!!! I asked her to teach me and she laughed saying anytime that I am free, I can join their “cult” of dancers. I learned that if I am really curios about something, I should just ask there is no harm in doing so. I wish I took a picture of their dance....I was too focused on watching them.

Redesign of interactive visual
I decided to redesign “Senseless Conflict”. I found that the site was very confusing with the beams shooting out that serve no purpose. At first I thought each beam would represent a strand of information but if you were to hoover around the lines, they don't do anything. A bad design choice to place the beams in a timeline. It also didn't allow the user to play around as much as a data visualization should. I also adjusted the Y-axis by adding more numbers in instead of guessing the amount of deaths per hour.Â

Great interactive visual
For my great interactive visual, I went onto informationIsBeautiful.netÂ
This visual shows data on the gender pay gap that can generate a viz based on the latest stats. I think this site works because it visualizes this complex data in a seemingly simple way. The circles provide information on salary pay per gender. Overall I think its a great interactive visual that’s interesting and works very well.

MyMRU redesign
I chose to redesign the MyMru login page. I thought the design would be better to have the username and password centred instead of placed on the far left this way its the main focal point to the website. The account resources and announcements can be placed on the bottom to fill up excessive white space and to not look as cluttered around the login information. Overall I believe this redesign works better for students to login quicker and moves your eyes to the centre of the page.

Facebook redesign
I don’t have a Facebook account so I did a redesign of Kristal’s personal page. After examining her page I came up with a redesign of where the posts would go. It makes sense to have them listed as blog posts since Facebook is considered a personal blog arena. This way people can scroll and look at all the posts all together instead of viewing them individually. Overall the redesign and functionality of the redesign work well together.Â
Professional Stretch Quest
Comfort Level before task: 2/5
For this stretch quest, I was very interested in publishing articles for a magazine that I am working on. The website was is called PinkShirt day which is an awareness campaign against bullying. Let me just say how much I hate bullies so any awareness to stop them, count me in. Anyways, I was told that any articles that I pull from their website must be granted permission by the organization. I was so nervous because I’ve never published anything before and knowing that I had to contact the head marketing team made me so anxious. I had to search hard for an email to contact and ask for permission which I was scared because I wasn't sure if they'll grant a university student permission. But I decided to take a shot and do it anyways even if I didn't get a response back. I sent a kind email contacting their marketing team. It took several days to get a response which made me so anxious and upset that I didn't have the proper qualifications to publish their articles. BUT I got an email back from their marketing team generously granting me permission. It felt so good to be in contact with people who are highly known in the industry. The lesson I learned is just take your chance and go for it even if you get rejected.

Concept statements 2
Immigration. It’s more than just moving.
Concept statements
1. The process to immigrate to Canada isn't always easy. 2. No choice but to flee to Canada. 3. Canada is recognized for its peace-keeping role around the world. 4. Becoming a Canadian Citizen is a privilege. 5. Moving to Canada is an exciting opportunity, but also a great challenge. 6. Immigration. It’s just not moving. 7. Without immigrants, there would be no Canada. 8. Everyone deserves a chance to taste freedom. 9. Canada is more than just a country, it’s home. 10.  Canada’s citizenship and immigration website has crashed. The concept statement I chose to move forward with is: Without immigrants, there would be no Canada. Â
Stretch Quest–social
For this social stretch quest, I joined an online chat room. I am not into this kind of activity especially talking to strangers from different parts of the world. There was a lot of people in this chat room and they were all talking about a new game ( I am not familiar with the name) and how cool it is. Keep in mind i was sitting at 2/5 for comfort before I joined this chat.
People on there were rude and so was the administrator of the chat. Every time I would say hello or try to chat, I would get shut out by people and the administrator sent me a message (above) which basically said that I am not welcome to the chat. I set up a profile for this chat and turned off my location setting on my laptop. Somehow it managed to guess that I was from Canada which was really creepy considering there are many countries to choose from.Â
Anyways after trying to learn about this game from other people on this chat, I gave up 10 minutes in because they were very rude. My experience after this stretch quest is still a 2/5. I don’t think I will be joining another chat room again after this experience.Â

Great Task Ware
Here’s my sketches of the sequenceÂ
Here is a screenshot of the original
I chose to sketch the amazon app, and the sequence of purchasing an iPhone charger. I think the interfaces work well because the colours, branding and theme of amazon are consistent throughout each page in the app. The main nav bar is consistent with each interface sequence,Â
Project prep 2: Expanding on collection
A collection of people: Immigrants to Canada
I organized my collection into four categories: Type of people immigrating to Canada, the location they come from, push and pull factors as to why they immigrated to this country.
