I've been sick for about a week now. Caught a cold, maybe the flu? Honestly, not too sure about the difference. Of course, with my crazy schedule, taking a sick day just isn't feasible. If I was just a student, I'd simply skip my classes. If I was just working, I'd call-in sick. Unfortunately, I am both. I'm currently in what's known as the hardest semester of our program--the semester that decimated 25% of last year's group (so I'm told). Missing a day over the sniffles would be like shooting myself in the foot, so I won't do it. I'll drag my ass to campus and pass out, retaining nothing…but at least get that sweet participation/attendance grade. Being both a student and someone juggling multiple jobs means that I can't afford to miss a day of work. Missing a shift means no pay…or not enough to pay off daily necessities…like food. Though, to be fair, if it was just food, it wouldn't have mattered much this week.
I've had no appetite. Granted, I've dosed myself up on the strongest cold/flu meds I can buy…and I guess it screws with my appetite and makes everything taste yucky. So…I haven't been eating much at all this week. Mostly just drinking water as hot as I can handle. To be fair, my stomach's been pretty active and kinda full because of all that congestion and mucus that refuses to come up. I've been feeling it in my tummy all week, and it's gross. At the start of this sick-spell, my stomach felt decent…but each day it's like the tummy ache is getting worse…and it's not a "run to the toilet" kind of tummy ache or anything…it's a sickly feeling that is growing by the day…a constant 'uncomfortable' feeling in my tummy.
After finishing a day of classes today, I raced home wanting nothing more than to be unconscious. However, upon getting home, I realized that my stomach was feeling off…different. It wasn't the sickly ache that woke me up 4 hours before my alarm…it wasn't an urgent "need to go" ache either. It took me a while…but…I felt…hungry?
Jumping at the opportunity to have something other than hot water and mucus in my tummy, I immediately heated up a can of Chicken Noodle, and thoroughly enjoyed it…while I was eating it.
I didn't even eat it that fast. I paced myself, took about 30 minutes to finish the pot of soup. I didn't inhale it or anything.
I am writing this two hours since finishing that can of soup. The last 2 hours have been a constant hell. My stomach is so sloshy--so wet…and so ridiculously bloated. I feel beyond 'stuffed'.
My stomach legit hurts. I'm so full! I planned to do some homework or something after dealing with my hunger…but soon after finishing the soup I only had one thought in mind: I need to lay down--my tummy really hurts! So, I've been laying down, rubbing my tummy and listening to it slosh for the last two hours. My eyes are tired and want to sleep--but my stomach aches terribly and refuses to calm down enough for sleep.
I've been trying desperately to find some relief, rubbing my belly, trying to apply a constant pressure by lying on a pillow (didn't last long, felt like my stomach would burst), and desperately trying to belch absolutely anything up with zero luck.
It feels like the mucus and the broth spent a long time repelling each other. The sickly congestion likely finally left my stomach and was in my intestines--hence why I finally felt hungry after four days of zero appetite. However, once soup occupied the free real-estate…it was trapped. My intestines were bloated up with the mucus and congestion…and my stomach was now overflowing with broth and pasta (chicken noodle, after all). There was nowhere for either substance to go. Mucus refuses to be digested and keeps trying to re-enter my stomach. Soup is sloshing around, unable to pass into the intestines, but refusing to integrate with the mucus.
I can't burp. I can't bring anything up, even when I'm desperately trying to puke just to ease the pressure in my gut…and nothing's far enough along to make me need to use the toilet…it's all just…stuck.
I feel really sick and really full and my stomach really hurts. Legit, I'm actually crying because my stomach feels so awful.
Please…what would you do? If I'm going to be stuck feeling like this, at least let me enjoy it.

For the design concept I looked up associated imagery in mythology and that's where I got the bull and leopard aspects, I like when associated animals are part of the being so I did the tail / ears / horns. I picked locs for wordplay reasons ("freeform" -> Dionysian celebrations were considered to free the spirit). I also drew a smidge of inspiration from T-Pain ("buy u a drank" is a great Dionysus song imo)
