Proof that screenplay drives the movie - Kappela on Netflix. Kappela, starts as a movie about simple and hard working lives, meet cutes, loves and a full 180 of life. Jessy, from a small village in Wayanad, helping her mother in stitching clothes, trying her best to incorporate some new embroidery designs to better her skill for living accidentally dials Vishnu, an auto rickshaw driver from Malappuram. With persistence from Vishnu, this meet cute turns into a most BEAUTIFUL love story. I got swept away literally. The love story takes you back to many 80s-90s movies where we enjoy the magic, innocence of falling in love without even seeing each other. For a girl from a very small village where even laughing loud is looked upon, Jesse takes a bold step to meet Vishnu, meet him at Kozhikode. There life takes a 180 turn, this is where Roy comes into picture. This movie must be experienced. For me this was a societal representation of two sides of a coin, clearing out many misconceptions in ones mind. Kappela broadened my knowledge of malayalam cinema, after which i just started watching so many beautiful screenplay driven movies, excellently written by @musthafa__actor, kudos to you 👏🏼👏🏼 @sreenathbhasi as Roy, I haven’t any of his movies until Kappela, and then couldn’t stop seeing him in every other movie I watched after. Helen, new discovery in my ever growing list of Malayalam cinema, on AmazonPrime. This a story of girl named Helen. She’s a nurse, who is not happy with what she makes in India, wants to find opportunities in a different country, which is true in every sense. She’s a very independent girl, making every effort to learn english, get a visa, prepare her father (single parent) to live without her and also make her boy friend responsible enough to find a job. While doing all these she also works at a fast food restaurant to help her father from financial burden. Unfortunate circumstances lead her to get stuck in a freezer at the restaurant while her phone is outside. Her struggle to stay alive at -18c degrees is the movie. Excellent performance from @benanna_love as Helen, the strength she displays inside the freezer not letting herself lose hope. While she is struggling inside, her father outside is trying every bit in his plate to find his daughter. The performance by @lal_director sir, as Helen’s father is brilliant. I connected with every bit of the screenplay, i was able to relate to the father’s and boyfriend’s hope that she doesn’t move to a different country while doing everything from their end to help with her dream, hating the police officer negligence in finding her. Some excellent performances from supporting cast as well, #noblebabuthomas as Helen’s boyfriend and @ajuvarghese as the egoistic police officer. As an audience, nothing in the screenplay was suspenseful, every dot was connected. And still we feel the suspense, exhilaration, desperation, helplessness the characters are going through. This what makes a moving watching experience satisfactory for me. Special mention for producer @vineeth84 for giving us some excellent movies over the years. Its a MUST WATCH. Happy Birthday Harry, THE BOY WHO LIVED. This name is my childhood but discovered late. I didn’t know this was a series of books. My parents just heard about this film called Harry Potter and Sorcerers Stone running successfully. They wanted to take me to the film, i understood this movie even though I used to watch very less english movies back then. I loved the magic world it took me into. This amusement followed until the 5th book released. I was reading news papers by then, so understood there’s a book series..OMG what a revelation, though i didn’t buy the books until 6th one released. I bought all the 6 book bundle. Then started my fascination and journey into fantasy land of Harry Potter. I loved the books more than the films. I read all of the 7 books 5 times till date and will continue many more times. This is only book series which I read with at most concentration and adulation. This series is something which taught me courage, being brave, being fascinated towards the world of magic and fantasy, love for dragons (even Hungarian horntails), quidditch, friendship and LOVE. This name is my childhood, my teenage, my adolescence and my adult life. My past, present, future and my forever. My journey to malayalam cinema started with this movie. #bangaloredays every movie buff i knew were like, “you should watch it” and I did. I had the least knowledge of malayalam actors except of course, MOHANLAL AND MAMMOOTTY. I didn’t even know @dqsalmaan was Mammootty’s son 🙈. With this movie I discovered @nivinpaulyactor @nazriyafahadh @dqsalmaan and @fahadhfaassil @par_vathy and more importantly @anjalimenonfilms mam. I just sat down and watched most of Dulquer’s Nazriya’s movies. I just enlisted myself as one of Dulquer’s die hard fans since then. This movie opened the possibility of reaching up to my cousins with whom the so called “busy life” has created some distance. Since then I been close to my cousins, of course the one with whom I could relate to. It just gave me a different perception towards life, to listen and understand to different point of views. This movie explains some changes to our thought process will open up so many possibilities of a happy and colourful life. Every characters in the movie has some experiences which has driven their thought process until they accepted these changes. The soul of the movie was the relationship between kunji, kuttan and aju. They understand each other like no body else, their parents included. Friends are the family we choose right, no need of friends if family is like this. Das and Sarah are the fuel which drives this soul. I don’t believe myself as a reviewer for any movies, I just wanted to share what I felt watching it. I love movies, and it makes my day when i watch a very good one, the happiest one.❤️❤️ @moothonmovie these 3 characters hold a special space in my heart. Everything gone wrong and everything going right in life. This movie for me was a journey of love and also finding the force which drives all of us. Accepting ourselves, as how we want to be. The rush of feelings when we experience love for the first time.
