SunKissed was electrified this week. 6 volts of the best electricity one can buy are flowing through her veins.
The next step is to bring her heart to life. Question is, will her ole 36er beat that aircooled rhythm or will she need a transplant. Stay tuned
SunKissed is in very unusual territory at the moment. Its been cloudy all week! Nothing like the all year hot sun of central NSW where it has been sitting for 40 years.
This week I managed to purchase some period correct number plates to add to the ratlook theme. What do you think?
A missing piece of the engine puzzle is a accelerator linkage for the carburetor. The target here is to start the little engine in the back so SunKissed can be under her own steam.
Starting to cool down here in Melbourne. I had a few spare minutes to poke around SunKissed and decided to straighten her wrinkles. Olay style. Well, with a hydraulic jack actually! 😎
Sealing the deal
Today I decided to put a protective coat over the complete outside of the beetle. I use Penetrol which lasts up to a year. I live across the road from the sea so I really want to stall what nature has started if you get my drift!
I tell you what, we are getting pretty darn excited about getting SunKissed on the road.
If only she could talk, the stories we would enjoy! Perusing over the bug I found a treasure trove of oddities. Like a pair of boots, original lost igntion key and a miners prospect card. 😎
The pickup inolved an impromptu holiday in the provincial town of Ballarat. What more could you ask? By the way, that`s Dennis Keating the flipper of this one owner beetle. Enjoy the pics.
Day One
Well it’s done. Today marks the day I dragged home a 57 VW Beetle from a nice chap in Ballarat by the name of Dennis Keating. He purchased it off gumtree from a chap in Shepparton who apparently dragged it home from West Wyalong, NSW. The gumtree advert professed it being a one owner but I may never know.
