The lyrics kinda descend into chaos so the final stanza’s translation is kind of iffy...

Hi. There's a episode on Osomatsu-kun when the sextuplets met a cute girl who is new in the neighborhood (She's called Kimko/Kumiko. And her dad looks like a dog) // And they switch each one to stay with her pretending to be Osomatsu // I wonder if this chapter exist in the manga. If this so, do you think you could translate it? Thank You very much for your translations

[1]  顔面セーフ(ganmen seefu/face safe) is the term for the rule in dodge-ball where if you get hit in the face you’re still in the game.

[2] This is probably a reference to “あたり前田のクラッカー”(atari maeda no cracker), which, apart from being a big brand name today, was a famous gag stemming from popular 60s show てなもんや三度笠(tenamonya sandogasa).

[3] Term used here is one of Chibita's catchphrases, てやんでい(teyandei) [4] なんじゃらっほい(nanjarahoi) is a really old-fashion (like, edo-period old) phrase basically meaning "what?" I wonder if it was used a lot in the 60s? [5] どどんぱ(dodonpa) is an attack from DBZ. Literally it's "boom wave."

[6]  チャンバラ (chanbara) is the sound effect of clashing swords used to mean sword play. Also the name of the samurai movie genre. Play on お疲れちゃん(otsukare-chan), cutesy slang for Otsukare-sama (”Thanks for your hard work”). [7] ばっははーい(ba'hahaai) (as in "bye") is a catchphrase of the character from 1966-1970 kid's show, Keroyon.

Hanamaru Pippi English Lyrics

I’ve been sitting on this translation for almost a year now haha

Hanamaru Pippi’s lyrics caught the ear of many people in Japan--many had fun coming up with their own widely-varying interpretations of the song. Lyricist Asaki is actually quite well known for her undecipherable lyrics; I came across a lot of comments like, “It’s Asaki so just give up (on trying to understand the song).” So the song contains an absurd number of double meanings and oddities.

Translation Notes:

[1] Concerning the title: Hanamarus are the Japanese equivalent of a gold star. Pippi is a nonsense word.  [2] Kamikaze literally means divine wind. It also has taken on the meaning of a suicide mission. Do take note that kamikaze here is written in katakana, not the normal kanji (kana is stylistically used instead of kanji throughout a lot of the song.) [3] Here I mean "one" as in a person! The term Asaki used here is ひと(hito/person), specifically not in kanji--giving it a vague/detached feeling. [4] Popon is a nonsense word. Some have speculated it could refer to the vitamin brand Popon S, which actually does get a cameo in AOP’s music video. [5] Chuu is the sound of sucking [6] 盛り(mori/serving), when read as “sakari,” means the prime or peak of one's life. [7] 甲斐性(kaishou/dependability) also means the "ability to earn a living". Its opposite would be a good-for-nothing. [8] 抱っこ(dakko) specifically refers to carrying a child in one's arms. It’s baby language. There is no English equivalent. [9] おそまつさん (osomatsusan) is a (rarely used) shortening of the phrase "osomatsu sama deshita," being an “expression of humility said by the person who provided a meal after it is eaten.” The fandom on Pixiv has also adopted it to mean "thanks for reading." Obviously, it is also the title of this show. [10] Churu means slurping/sipping

It’s an old SNES visual novel, “Gakkou de atta Kowai Hanashi.” I describe it as “Goosebumps” meets “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” meets “Choose Your Own Adventure.”

Thanks to everyone who replied! I was actually thinking more along the lines of non-Akatsuka works but I underestimated everyone’s interest in his stuff. 

So I’m thinking now I might just do a couple chapters from each suggested title (Chibita, Bakabon, Moretsu Atarou, Akko-chan, and I’m tossing in Hennako-chan as well) and then see where things go from there.

(By the way I’m not stopping Osomatsu-kun, just wanted a little something different to try on the side.)
