with Icarus’s consciousness tucked away from their own, they have no indication of the complexity of who they are, and what they are, and that has only really served to add more confusion and questions. when, or even if, the barrier between the immortal Icarus and the mortal Oliver is broken down, they will be able to harness the ability to absorb the sun’s energy into strength, durability, control light and the ability to fly. until that day, as a deified mortal, Oliver continues to unknowingly influence the world and be influenced by the immortal being within them, manifesting in enhanced strength when the sun is high in the sky.
in the mean time, Oliver is male using he/him to define themselves, and is thirty-six years old. life goes on for them as most everyone else’s does; working at Cygnus Restaurant as the owner, and if he can’t be found there, he can usually be found at Callisto Bay, doing scuba diving. they are originally from london and they now live in Hesperides Villas. to date, Oliver has been on magnetic island for two weeks.

"I love a good game of Trivial Pursuit. Or any kind of trivia. I used to do it a lot when I was in university at the pub on a Thursday night.
One thing that you grew accustomed to fairly quickly being raised by an affluent aunt who loved making new connections, was how to entertain yourself at a party. Thea had found herself at all kinds of parties and events over the years thanks to her Aunt’s contacts and friends. Whether that be a gala or club opening, there was the blonde trailing on her Aunt’s heals. As she grew up it was slightly different, Thea could hold a conversation or could find the easiest escape route from the dessert table to the closest exit. Needless to say, you could imagine who’d invited the young woman to this restaurant opening.
Thea walked in, already having lost her Aunt the second they stepped through the door. But the male who approached her caused her to smile politely up at him. “Hi, looks like a fantastic turn out.” She returned with a hum, gesturing to the throng of people milling around them. Thea was about to excuse herself to look for food when the other beat her to it, the blonde quickly nodding at the offer. She was always up for trying new things, especially when it came to food. “I would love to try one. They sound amazing, if I’m being honest.” She chuckled, reaching to lift one off of the tray. Lifting the shell to her lips, she tilted her head back and savored the flavor as the oyster hit her tongue, bringing her head back down as she held the shell out a little. “Oh my go—if the oysters are that good and you hype up the tacos even more? I can’t wait.”

Oliver was admittedly very nervous for this event. It was working so far, people were coming in to try the dishes and wine they had on offer. The event was a pricey one to throw but it was good advertising for what the restaurant would have to offer now. So far, it looked like a good investment from the crowd that was growing. He was trying to play host and talk and greet everyone in the crowd so he was happy to talk to the pretty blonde when she paused to listen to him. “It is a great turn out. I’m pretty impressed,” he agreed with a friendly smile.
“I hope everyone is as kind as you,” he chuckled. “Honestly we didn’t do much to the oysters.” He leaned in line he was sharing a secret with the stranger but he had told a few people the same thing. “Australia has some of the best seafood in the world and we really are just trying to celebrate that.” It wasn’t lingo that Oliver would normally use but he had heard how passionate his chef was and wanted to share those words with others. “There’s also some excellent wines from the Margret River region in Western Australia. They pair very well with the tacos,” he promised, waving over a different waiter who was carrying chilled glasses of white wine on a tray for people to take. “Did you ever come here with the old owner?” he asked, curious if she noticed a difference in the venue.
KAYN COCKS ONE EYEBROW UP, bracing himself for a possible lecture of how rebellious and wild-spirited that person in front of him was back in his youth. he has always been one of these people who couldn’t wait to grow up and leave the infantile behavior behind them. “ wanna trade childhoods? “ he says mockingly, though that is his way of joking. “ so judging by your words, now you want to get to know me? well,” kayn stands up and takes his shoes and socks off and he carries his bare feet to the pool in front of the two. he submerges his entire clothed body into it, his sweater and pants completely soaking into the fresh waters of the hidden falls and his necklace hovering on the surface together with his pink-colored head. it’s sublime to him; his mind starts feeling the expansion of his safe aquatic bubble. “ have a go. you have one chance only to ask your questions and see why i can be TROUBLE more often than not. “

Oliver had done far worse things in his youth than smoke and dye his hair but he wasn’t going to bring that up and make him look even older than he was. The past few years had aged him considerably but he liked to think he still had some youthfulness to him. “Nope,” he replied easily. He knew he was privileged and had grown up with more money than most but he wasn’t stupid enough to say he didn’t want that either. The little show was kind of amusing. He wasn’t going to be the one going home in soaking wet clothes so he could only chuckle at the sight. “You make it sound like your starting riots or beating up people in the streets. This island isn’t big enough for that trouble to go unnoticed,” he pointed out. “What’s the worse thing you’ve ever done then?” he asked instead, wanting to see if the young man was as much trouble as he made it sound like he was. “I can tell you mine if you like. I wouldn’t call it the worse, but it’s trouble. I once pissed in a vase in Prince Charles summer home.” It had been a dare from his brothers when he was ten years old, but he could make it seem like he was older when it happened.
Bellamy was in attendance solely as a plus one, this time playing the guest which gave him some freedom. He’d come as a means of expansion, shaking hands and rubbing elbows and as per usual kissing ass in the name of the veteran’s foundation. Sometimes a public offer, or a small check up on the status of certain payments, was the best way to twist an arm into getting it done soon. No one wanted a scene, and he knew how to keep his words vile but his grin charming. However, there was also a curiosity for the business side of it and that was one of the factors in which drove him to come out.
He was picking at the food, pacing himself slower than most guests even with the platters as small as they were. He knew better than to give in so quickly.
“Oliver Romero, right?” Bellamy asked, curving his offer. “You’re the new saving grace of this place?”

Oliver was trying his best to act like a good host. If he was honest, it wasn’t his thing but for the sake of the restaurant, he could put on his best smile for any customer. When the man in front of him already knew his name, he tried not to show his surprise. “I guess news like that travels quick around here?” he replied. “That would be me, it’s nice to meet you.” He held his hand out to the man, offering it to him.
While he couldn’t put his finger on it, something about the man gave off a ‘tense’ vibe. He hoped it wasn’t the food that was making him feel that way. As busy as it had been, Oliver had been watching the crowd, trying to gauge their reaction to different dishes and the atmosphere the place gave off. “How are you liking the food?”
it was a bit of a breath of fresh air to hear his chuckle, rather than get the look from him that alex was expecting — perhaps a snooty little i’m better than you look, with a bit of wonder what someone like alex was doing here ( he wasn’t even up to dress code — was there even a new dress code here ? )
“ i’m gonna be honest with you, mate — i don’t think i would ever consider eating this thing in any other situation, but you have a face that i just feel compelled to say yes to. ” he begins to tease, which meant that he was starting to feel a little bit more comfortable in his environment. or, for alex, it could be the complete other end of the spectrum — out of place or comfortable, alex will resort to trying to make bad jokes. he does as he was told, though, finally taking his bite. “ fuck me, it really does taste like the sea — ” he shamelessly lets the cussing fall from his lips as he was chewing through it, still unsure what his verdict was on the whole thing. “ i think my taste buds are extremely confused. ”

It was easy to laugh off the young man’s opinions on the food offered to him. He had felt the same way when he was younger but it took trying new things to discover what he liked. It was a restaurant after all, it didn’t matter what your tastes or what you wore, so long as you paid for your meal. Tonight there wasn’t a need to pay at least but Oliver hoped it would entice people to return. “It’s also hard to say no to free food,” he replied with a small chuckle.
“That’s fair, it’s a weird texture but when you get a good one, it can be creamy or sweet but it will always taste a little like the sea.” That part seemed like a given, considering that’s where the oysters came from after all. “I promise the other dishes are not as confusing. Most people see oyster’s and think it’s fancy so you know, we gotta flex a little so people think it’s fancy.” The taco’s were likely not considered fancy but Oliver was doing his best to source the best local ingredients to support the community. “How about you wash it down with some wine?”
"I'd call it bisexual. I'm attracted to all kinds people and have been with all kinds of people too."

30. A hobby you have?
"I'm a big fan of anything outdoors. I played a lot of rugby and cricket but had to cut back on that. I still like to go diving and snorkeling now that I'm living on the island. I'd love to get back into sailing too but that's a bit more of a pricey hobby."
The moment he spoke, Mysha squared her shoulders back, and prepared herself to double down. She was used to that as her temper had gotten her in trouble more than once. Of course she saw it as returning the energy. “Is that a joke?” Swiping the bottle out of his hand, she dumped the water out and tossed it into her garbage can. The person who had littered was too far gone now for her to call them out anyway. Jerk. Her attention goes back to the other, who for the most part appeared unphased from her throw. “I know it is. I’ve always had a strong arm.” Mysha wasn’t one to preen but when she was complimented humility was swiftly tossed out the window. Especially when it came to her admittedly impressive athletic skills. “I didn’t even know the island had one.” She replied with a shrug. “I’ve never played though. I was more of a track and soccer kid growing up. Archery also really builds up the muscles.”

The woman looked ready to attack him again if he said the wrong thing. Oliver found it highly amusing considered she had attacked him to begin with with a stray plastic bottle. It was out of his hand before he could comment but Oliver still looked amused at the whole situation. “It might be but it depends if you’re still threatening me with recycling,” he said, keeping his hands up. He was ready to swat any stray drink bottles heading his way if need be. For the moment, it seemed safe and he relaxed. “Of course there is, this is Australia. Even the smallest towns have at least one football team and one cricket team.” He had spent more than a few holiday’s in Australia before moving here and he had picked up on those things. Or maybe it was just because he enjoyed the sports. “It’s probably by that big sporting oval, if you’re interested.”
“Most people just call me Ollie. When I was playing football in England, my nickname became Romeo but I think that was just too lazy and forgot the extra R.”
2. Any siblings?
“Yes, I’m the youngest of three boys. Unfortunately.”
3. Any tattoos?
”I have a bunch and I’m thinking of getting more. I have a shark on my thigh, this wave on my other thigh and I’ve got a sun on my chest.”
4. Something you wish you were better at?
“Probably surfing, if it’s something physical. I can surf and swim and do diving but I haven’t mastered surfing. I think I should also get better at talking about how I’m feeling instead of deflecting but let’s go with surfing. Surfing is easier to obtain.”
It felt like a shot in the chest, a reminder of the time they had been apart. Even without the chaotic mix of intense emotions they had related to Oliver, they had still been close friends and losing that at the same time had been really tough. Their thoughts were filled with their attempts to hold in all of their emotions as they moved other to the bag, taking a drink from their water bottle. Luckily, the joke distracted them and they smiled. “It’s 100% a death trap,” they agreed, joking in return. “You really picked a terrible place to go, but there are far worse ways to die than snorkeling.”
Harlow led him towards the water. This could just be like them hanging out again, before they left England. Back then, they had just been friends, nothing complicated. “Just keep your eyes out for sand sharks. If you spot one, it’s already too late for you.” Joking was a nice feeling, something far lighter and easier to bear. They wouldn’t be able to talk much when they had their snorkels on, but the sea life would be enough to keep them from thinking too much.
There was no easy way to have the conversations he needed to have with them. Oliver felt at a loss for words which was why he was so glad that they could ignore it for the time being. Jokes were easy, it was the foundation of their friendship and if they could still joke, there was hope for them to be friends again. “So I've heard,” he said, shaking his head sadly. “I'm seeing that now. I could have gone to that other ocean without sharks in there,” he joked.
Even if they hadn't done this for years, it was familiar. They had done it enough in the past that it felt natural to be undressing beside him, their eyes on the water. “This really isn't very comforting,” he grumbled. “I'm rather fond of my limbs and you're about to take me into Jaws,” he grumbled. “I was afraid to swim in the water at night for years. Years! I'm still not to keen on it if I'm honest.”
megan feels out of place as she did most often. a satin dress hugs her frame a bold teal color instead of usual moody cool toned palette. earrings dangle, brushing exposed shoulders. she looks picturesque as she leans over a table, snapping closed the hard plastic case that held her microphone. she was thankful for the gig, the work, but anxiety would always pool in her mouth like venom when in such luxe social settings. tip bowl overfull she carefully sweeps it into further bags when approached by oliver himself. “ mr.romero, ” she greets head dipping gently. “ uh, ” a quick inhale chest filling with air as she glances at the perfected oysters propped on ice.
she probably needed to get out of here before she broke something. or something caught fire. even then, megan could only envision a swarovski crystal fire extinguisher being presented. “ i’ll pass. thank you though. all that sodium isn’t good for my vocal chords. ” a awkward, tight smile presented to him & the waiter in apology. “ sounds amazing. ” hand lifts to smooth a curl behind the shell of her ear, shifting her already tall stance ( now even taller in lengthened heels ) to balance her weight and lift her shoulders to straighten them. hoping she seemed presentable & refined, hoping to fit in, even if just for the fleeting moments as she prepared for her exit. “ i hope you liked the music. i hope you’ll have me back? ” it comes out as a question and she wished it hadn’t. her manager at the white island hotel had put in a recommendation for her as a lead to oliver for vocal entertainment. her meekness comes easy, comes naturally, a wounded butterfly who can’t quite fly as gracefully as others. “ maybe next time….. ” clearing her throat, smile looses its stiffness as it softens and creases of worry written on her forehead smooth. “ the oysters and tacos i mean. me trying them. i don’t want to impose further yeah. ” *

He had been up in the air about hiring entertainment for the party but Megan had come recommended by the manager from the White Island Hotel so he had seen if she was available. As unsure as he had been, the music had set the right atmosphere, creating a good background for the guests to enjoy as each course was brought out for them to try. “Megan, please, call me Oliver,” he said, giving her a warm smile. Even though she was a performer, he could see the nerves in her frame, from the subtle shake of her hands to the way her shoulders stayed tight.
Oliver chuckled, patting the waiter on the shoulder so he could go serve some other guests instead. “I never knew sodium could effect your vocal chords, the more you know.” It was his nature to try and comfort people and his hand almost reached out for her shoulder before he dropped it to his side, he didn’t know her well enough for that. “I did and I would like to have you back, if you have time in your schedule for us,” he replied. “Well, as part of performing here, you eat for free, whatever you want, doesn’t even have to be on the menu,” he said. “I’m glad you were recommended, your voice is quiet incredible. I guess we should figure out your availability?”
