Ethereal Eyes: KPDH Verse
Done in conjuction with @phoenixborn
Xiong is the adopted son of Sierra Nightengale. Sierra is the third member of the Starlight Sisters, who had worked with Miyeong and Celine. (rest is under cut cause of length)
SIerra considered the two her sisters and was very protective of them. At the same time, she is heavily devoted to the extermination of demons.
Seeing Miyeong developing a relationship with a demon served as nothing more Gwi-ma trying to break up the group through her eyes. Out of her desire against demons and her sisterly love for Miyeong, she worked to reveal that Rumi's father was just biding his time, though this frequently put her in conflict with Celine.
As the relationship progressed, Sierra kept her opinion about Miyeong but was now extremely worried that she would abandon the task that the three of them had been given to be with a single demon.
Given that Miyeong wasn't suffering any punishment for the relationship, Sierra grew disillusioned that the Demon Hunters actually sought to eradicate demons.
Though she would still work Celine and Miyeong, she blamed emotions for Miyeong departing from their path. She would seek out someone to take over for her in case she cannot get the Honmoon golden, but she had every intention of trying to get it done if possible.
She would eventually find Xiong, who had been abandoned by his parents to live out their dreams. Sierra would take in Xiong.
It would take some time for Sierra to figure out how to approach training Xiong as an hunter in the next generation. She couldn't trust those who trained her, but didn't know how to teach what she was taught.
Sierra would decide it was because Miyeong had become a slave to her emotions, that the best way to try and accomplish this was to groom Xiong so he wouldn't feel any emotions. This was an exceptionally difficult task and Sierra would eventually give up. At the least, she would train him to see demons, expecting the rest will come to him naturally in time.
She will seek out demons while apart from Miyeong and Celine to try and develop that Spirit Sense in Xiong, though because Xiong was with her, SIerra wouldn't immediately fight the demons. Eventually, Xiong would gain the ability to see demons.
Once Sierra was able to confirm that he can see demons. She decided that it was time to deal with Rumi's father. Gwi-ma, meanwhile, was irate that Rumi's father thought that he was safe from his influence. However, Gwi-ma wasn't going to punish him for his betrayal, as it would be too merciful, but to simply get rid of a demon would be wasteful and would wait for an opportunity to present itself.
Eventually, Gwi-ma would contact Sierra, offering to help her prove she was right about Rumi's father. All he asked was that Sierra serve him. Knowing that serving Gwi-ma meant that she couldn't complete the honmoon, she was consoled by the fact that she had Xiong who she felt confident would take over for him. So Sierra would accept the agreement.
After Rumi's birth, Gwi-ma used his influence to try and turn Rumi's father to act like most demons. Terrified of hurting his family while trying to fight off Gwi-ma's influence, Rumi's father fled. Celine could tell that Gwi-ma was the cause, but she couldn't risk Rumi's father attacking Miyeong, so she gave pursuit.
Gwi-ma was aware of the soul connect that bound Rumi's father and Miyeong, but intentionally hid this from SIerra.
Miyeong would try to console a crying Rumi and would put her to bed once she was able to do so. Sierra would arrive shortly afterwards and would try to take her to see Rumi's father so that she can see the 'truth' about the demon that she loved. However, at this time, Celine had already banished Rumi's father back to the Demon Realm.
Due to the soul connect, banishing Rumi's father would end up killing Miyeong. MIyeong would die right in front of Sierra. Watching her sister die in front of her, Sierra would cry out for Miyeong, hoping that she would wake up.
Eventually, Sierra would come to terms that Miyeong had died and that she had played a part in it. Ashamed of it and terrified of what would happen if it came to light that she was involved, Sierra ran away, leaving Rumi on her at the time.
Given that she had agreed to serve Gwi-ma and that she couldn't trust herself to take care of anyone after what happened to Miyeong, Sierra abandons Xiong. The only bright side for Sierra at this point, is that she would still contribute whatever way she could to having demons eradicated, even if she had now become one. Her dying once demons are eliminated would give her some sense of closure and serve as a way to at least try of making up for her past mistake.
Xiong would go back into an orphanage and adopted several times. However, his developed Spirit Sense and his upbringing being under Sierra caused problems.
As Sierra had praised him for being able to see demons, the families that adopted him would call him cursed and possessed once he said that same thing. He would constantly be sent back to the orphanage so that he wouldn't 'infect' anyone in the adopted families.
The constant cycle of adoption and return culminated with Sierra's earlier attempts to separate him from his emotions would result in him doing just that.
WIthout any demons in his life, Xiong would ultimately let those memories become submerged as he did his best to live a normal life. He would become an impartial reporter, though his impartiality would earn him some enemies.
Seeing a fan video at the Huntrix concert with a demon would subconsciously awaken the memories about demons inside Xiong and all of the memories involving Sierra. Realizing that he was right, he wasn't sure if Huntrix has some connection to the demons or if it was just a coincidence.
Given their public appeal, Xiong offers to do a report on Huntrix. However, his boss just assumes that he is another fan and refuses. Xiong, however, uses his accrued paid time off to go regardless.
Now that he can potentially do as his 'mother' would have wanted him to do, Xiong trains in Gwonbeop, Gon Bong, and Ssang Geom. However, due to the severence of his emotions from his being, Xiong is incapable of summoning a weapon to banish demons. That wasn't going to stop him from making them too afraid to return, at least that is the intention.
