i have such a love for characters who descend into madness or villainy out of deep, deep empathy. characters who fundamentally cannot cope with the cruel realities they find themselves in and blow up about it in spectacular fashion. fallen angel type characters with tears of outrage in their eyes. characters who break before they bend, and break so badly they splatter blood all over their noble ideals. every variation on it gets me so good

Just as a follow-up, I didn’t mean for this to be a pity post but more of a “oh, this isn’t working the way I’m used to things working maybe I’m missing something and need to step back for a bit” thought process. (With maybe a BIT of being sad lmao) But the feedback and different perspectives has been genuinely helpful so thanks to the responses.

I’m not quitting, at all, so don’t worry! I’ll be slowing down to finish chapters well ahead of posting, to kind of prevent that expectation again and give myself more time to let the story simmer instead of rushing to post. It’s quite right that the fandom is hitting a slow stride now and there’s no need to exhaust myself trying to replicate any of my past projects. My daunting list of WIPs will eventually all be filled 😌
