“ good. that’s.. all i could really hope for. ” moments like this are a little sparse between them - indications of genuine emotion, not just.. goofing around and being ridiculous. actual, genuine spots of seriousness weren’t unheard of in their friendship, they were just.. rare, given the type of people they both were. despite that, reed knew just how important gabry was to her, and she knew that he felt the same way about her. their bond.. it didn’t need to be put into words — she loved him, whole-heartedly and completely, and she KNEW that feeling was reciprocated.
nevertheless, it was nice to hear it said aloud, and she reached out to take gabry’s hand tightly, squeezing it with her own, before linking their fingers together comfortably. “ i feel like myself when i’m with you, too.. more me than i can be with most people. i don’t think i’ve ever met someone who gets me more than you do. i’m lucky to have you in my life.. and i’m hoping that you’ll always be in it. i’m not sure how i’d get by without you, now. ”

Dib pauses, mid-speech, slowly turning to face the newcomer who had popped up out of, seemingly, nowhere. He hadn’t been expecting any kind of response, especially not one that sounded so eager to hear more information.
Somebody… was actually interested in what he had to say? They weren’t rolling their eyes, scoffing internally, letting him rant but not actually listening to a single word he said?
Was he hallucinating, or was he just setting himself up to be relentlessly mocked?
“I… Yes, I was.” Dib was almost cautious in his confirmation, as though he was waiting for the camera crew to pop out of the woodwork along with the stranger, announcing that Dib had, once again, been on the receiving end of an elaborate practical joke. “I haven’t just seen an alien - he goes to school with me! He sits two desks down from me, freakish green skin, no ears, no nose, can’t eat the cafeteria food, all of the hallmarks of an extraterrestrial scoping out Earth for potential invasion… But no one else can see it!”
Truth be told, Gabriele's own knowledge about actual extraterrestrial life was very limited and pretty thin in general. Most of the things he had learned about aliens through his teenage years all came from pulling all nighters and watching a bunch of tv series and movies about paranormal life, which of course -- those more experienced and with actual knowledge on the matter -- could probably find ridicolous, exaggerated and not at all accurate.
However, Gabriele wasn't exactly known for having the most rational, scientific and realistic of thinking.. if somebody told him about the existence of a man eating jelly monster with legs.. he would probably believe it. But could you blame him for it? He was an easily impressionable child, with a whole bunch of imagination and way too much free time to spend.
The blonde boy listened in pure awe as the other spoke, barely even containing his own excitement.. which could be easily noticable by the way his body slightly jumped up and down.
There is no way this boy could stand still for too long, especially in situations where his curiosity was triggered.
" An alien?! Goes to school with you?! " Disbelief covered the boy's expression as he spoke, not even thinking about the fact he should probably keep his voice low.
" You are so lucky! I wish i had an alien going in the same school as me! At least it'd make things way more interesting! And uh -- what kind of alien is he?! Is he one of those aliens who can shape shift and take human form to deceive everyone? “ How ironic of him to say this , of all things .. “ Or maybe he is one of those aliens who STEALS human bodies all together?! Or their organs?! OH -- OH -- Is he one of those who eat humans from the inside and destroy their guts only to burst out and cause a bloody mess of guts?! "

the admission drew a smile from guido, and he moved his hand to rub it lightly against the back of his neck, loving the way it made his stomach jolt and his heart leap. every day since he had met gabry, he didn’t know why he had been so lucky to cross paths with him.. he had never expected to meet someone like him, someone who loved him so.. wholly, so completely. he had never expected to find anyone who loved him that much.. especially not here in portorosso. that had always seemed like too much to hope for.
“ is that possible? ” he teased lightly, letting out a soft laugh, letting his forehead rest comfortably against gabry’s own forehead, his smiling beaming. “ considering how much you already say you love me, i’m not really sure that amount of love can get any bigger. ” his arms moved upwards, gently resting his arms over his shoulders, and leaned in to lightly press the tips of their noses together, completely overwhelmed with his own feelings.
