At the sound of Elena's voice Bonnie's head began to hurt as their argument rang round in her head. ''Why wouldn't I be upset with you Elena? don't act like a day or two will have calmed me down i'm super pissed at you.''

Elena sighed and ran her hand through her hair. After her conversation with Stefan she had an inkling that she knew what was going on. "Bonnie, we haven't spoken since our last conversation where I promised to do my best to be happy for you. Anything else you've heard is probably the work of..." she didn't want to say the next part. Eyeing the woman before him, Gabriel remained curious and completely baffled with the blasé attitude she had to danger. Her words did something to sway his concerns. They also justified the slight darkness glittering around her aura. "That explains it." He murmured, studying her aura with the intensity he hadn't previous shown her features. To anyone else he'd look like he was studying the space around her. "You wear your previous death like an old scar."

Tilting her head to the side, Elena allowed herself to digest what Gabriel had just said. If he knew how many times she'd died he'd probably ask her about that too. Dying four times was definitely not what most people went through. "I do?" she asked. "That's slightly...disappointing. And here I thought I was doing such a good job and feigning total optimism." //@thetrickster-gabriel

"TIMES LIKE THIS, I WISH YOU WERE TOO." Because even if she was a vampire, she'd at least be harder to kill. Less breakable. Less.... human, obviously, Stefan. "We'll find a way to keep you safe that doesn't require that this time. I know we will." He had to be hopeful right? Beacon Hills was a fresh start for everyone.... even Katherine, who he doubted actually wanted forgiveness.

The mention of Bonnie made him feel hopeful she was doing well at least. He wouldn't go near her unless she made the first move. "Anytime. You're one of my best friends."

Elena had considered asking Stefan or Damon to help her return to vampire status, but she'd decided that was entirely selfish. In years past she would've done it, she would've let fear take over her thoughts. Now though, things were different. She couldn't do that to them this time. She'd just have to live with her pesky humanity. "If you know we will then that make me a little more confident," she said with a smile.

When he called her one of his best friends she smiled even wider at him. "Good to know I'm still on that list, Stefan," she said. "I was getting worried there for a second." //@flklcres

The male couldn't help himself. He genuinely laughed at her words. She was so human. Every movement she made, every word she spoke was laced with humanity. It was almost sickening. "It seems you're as naive as you look then, Darling." He observed, coming to a stop in front of her again as he dropped his hand to his side. "What kind of human allows vampires into their home and pokes buttons that should not be pushed?"

It was a completely valid question and one Elena had asked herself more than once. Thinking back on the day she met Stefan and all that had followed made her want to laugh, cry, smile, and wince all at the same time. She'd trusted the wrong people and her life used to move a million miles a minute. Beacon Hills, she was hoping, wasn't going to be like that. "Well, human turned vampire turned human and so on and so forth. I think somehow I've become a danger magnet," she said with a chuckle. //@thetrickster-gabriel

"seriously?" bats her long eyelashes several times in a series of stunned blinks. "so, what, there's just an army of lookalikes out there? this is way too weird." she shakes her head, exhales a short breath. "i mean, are we safe? what does it mean?"

"It's not really an army," she said. "We're safe, it's just a lot to try and explain right now. How about we go get coffee tomorrow and I'll fill you in?" Elena wanted to believe that the person standing in front of her was just another doppelganger more than anything, but she just couldn't be sure. So, buying herself at least a few hours to try and do some snooping seemed like a good plan. //@kvtherines

IT WAS HARD TO ADMIT BUT HE KNEW SOMEONE had to tell her the truth. Stefan was okay with it being him, given how ass backwards everyone was at the moment. "We'll figure it out. I think you'll be okay with the Mikaelsons. Maybe not Rebekah but I think the rest of them will be okay." And if he had to ask Klaus not to threaten her life, he might just have to do that. "I think the biggest worry is Katherine though." He listened and grumbled, his features turning sour. "You're not an idiot. You're hopefully good and that's fine, Elena. Do you have John's ring?" Maybe that'll work. Maybe they'd need something else. "We're in a town with other creatures. I'm sure we can find some kind of witch who can make a ring or necklace."

John's ring. Elena hadn't thought about that particular piece of jewelry in quite a while. Did she still have it? She honestly couldn't be quite sure. "It's times like these I wish I was still a vampire," she mumbled. Sure, she'd whined and complained about it, but humanity now seemed like a greater burden than it had ever been before.

"I spoke with Bonnie the other day, I'll call her if I can't find the ring," she said. "Stefan, thank you. Thank you for telling me." //@flklcres

Elena's smile faltered as she saw Stefan approach her. Just moments before she'd smiled and waved as she saw him, but now she could tell that something was off. She'd known him long enough to pick up on these things. "Stefan, are you alright? What's going on?" //@flklcres

IT WASN'T FAIR BUT THAT WAS LIFE. It was Elena's life. "I wanted you to hear it from someone you can trust," because really, doppelgangers were still obviously a thing, "but Katherine is back. I wanted to make sure you're safe."

It took everything in her to not let her knees buckle. Elena had thought that the threat of Katherine was gone. Sure, she'd thought about the fact that she might be in town for a fleeting moment, but to have it confirmed made her insides knot. "Safe? How can I possibly be safe with her, the entire Mikaelson clan, and who knows who else just running around?"

Thinking for another moment, Elena remembered her run in with who she had believed to be another doppelganger. "Oh my god, Stefan, I think I've already seen her. I spoke with her. She...she was pretending to be another doppelganger. I'm such an idiot..."

HE APPROACHED HER HESITANTLY, not because he thought she was Katherine but because he knew that what he'd tell her would upset her. He had to tell everyone but he thought he'd start at the source. "Elena, I have to tell you something."

Elena's smile faltered as she saw Stefan approach her. Just moments before she'd smiled and waved as she saw him, but now she could tell that something was off. She'd known him long enough to pick up on these things. "Stefan, are you alright? What's going on?" //@flklcres

aw, look at little elena about to become katherine's best friend. positively gag-worthy. "juliette," she decides on a whim, ever the romantic. "no offense, elena, but this is seriously weird. i feel like i'm dreaming, but you don't even seem like it bothers you."

"Juliette, well, that's sort of a long story," she said. "Long story short, and I'll tell you the long one too if you want at some point, this isn't the first or even just the second time this has happened to me." Elena smiled at the other girl. "The first time it was a bit jarring, but now, well, I'm just expecting it..." //@kvtherines

"Let me see.." Gabriel mused, slowly beginning to circle the feminine frame before him. "Vampires can't get inside your house without permission." He began, ticking over creatures on his fingers lips some sick grocery list. He was also abandoning all forms of discretion. "Werewolves don't care enough to attack unless provoked.." Gabriel paused, raising an eyebrow at the girl. "Do you provoke werewolves?" The archangel stopped mid step as he wanted for her response.

"Unlucky for me, I've already invited most of the vampires around into my life. Doesn't matter if they can get into my home or not, I can't just stay in there forever," she said. If she was being honest, Elena was now more concerned than ever that she was simply human again. If she was a vampire maybe she'd have more leverage, but she could die easily at this point. "I do my best not to provoke them," she said. "Just...I've been know to poke some buttons..." //@thetrickster-gabriel

lexi grimaced, nodding her head. "i'd guess the whole mikaelson clan is in town by the sounds of it. i mean, i'd only met kol before now but..." she trailed off, shaking her head from her thoughts. "me? oh - yeah. it's...a little weird. but i try and roll with the punches, one day at a time and all that, right?"

"The entire clan?" she asked, concern etched into her tone. If all the Miakelsons were around, Elena had more to fear than she'd originally realized. Ironic. "Sorry, not gonna make this all about me You're right, one day at a time. And if you want another friend, you have one," she said. //@vampyredefender

Gabriel's eyes never left the feminine form across the way. His breath slightly shallow as he waited for some sort of confirmation on whether she'd seen his wings or not. Her words gave that to him. Visibly relaxing, the archangel slipped his palms into the depth of his jean pockets. He nodded in response to her words. "Perfectly understandable." Gabriel mused, "I was caught up in my thoughts as well, you startled me slightly." The admission was more than he needed to say but once it had passed his lips it was too late. "However.." He continued, a slight frown creasing at his brow. "You probably shouldn't be out all by yourself, surely this town and it's inhabitants are reason enough to stay where it's safe."

Elena crossed her arms over her chest. The man in front of her was probably right, especially considering that long time enemies were now back from the dead. Yet, here she was, just walking around as if everything was completely normal. "Yeah, you're not wrong," she said with a forced laugh. "But honestly, I don't think I'd be safe anywhere in this town at this point." //@thetrickster-gabriel

Bonnie hated the idea of them fighting, they had been friends for so long but again she couldn't help how she felt. ''I hope not, they shouldn't fight about this. It's not just Damons fault.'' she sighed looking down for a moment. ''Id say try to keep them apart but I know what Enzo is like he's probably looking for him, or already tormenting him from afar.'' shrugging she gave her friend a smile. ''I love you too Elena, thank you for understanding..''

"I think at this point there's no way you could keep them apart. Whatever happens, well, there's nothing you or anyone else can do to stop it," she said. Elena wanted to be honest while being supportive. "Listen, do you want to come over sometime? We could do gals night, maybe call Caroline too?" //@thatbennettwitch

head tipped to the side, studying the woman for a moment, immediately pegging the doppelganger as elena, thanks to her telltale whining. "i wouldn't do that if i were you. your brother would be rather upset. as of recently, he's taken quite the shine to me." a smirk crossed kol's face, a brow arching. tongue then darted over his bottom lip, humming as eyes narrowed. "oh, he didn't tell you about our little late night trysts? oops." in fact, it was only one night, but elena didn't need to know that and besides, kol always did have a flair for the dramatics.

Elena was clenching her fist so hard she was convinced she might be drawing her own blood. She hadn't even gotten a chance to speak to Jeremy since she'd arrived in Beacon Hills. Whether Kol was saying all this just to rile her up or not, the thought of him messing with her younger brother made her blood boil. "I'm not stupid enough to tell you or him what either of you can do," she said. "But trust me, Kol, cross me here and we will have a problem." //@dvlishkol
