So there's a video with Amy Schumer going around the Internet about the hoops women have to jump through in order to get birth control. I watched and and thought to myself how it's true that you have to do SO MANY THINGS just to get the pill or an IUD or whatever your preferred method is, excluding condoms obviously. But I have seen men comment on it and say that it's not that hard to get birth control.....I'm sorry. I didn't realize men were going to the doctor and getting prescribed birth control pills. I would also like to make the case that when I wanted to get Mirena, my GP told me that she couldn't get it for me for 6 months. So I ended up going to planned parenthood. Two weeks from my initial phone call to PP I had my IUD in place. So these are things we need to think about when we talk about defunding Planned Parenthood and when we talk about how "easy" it is to get access to birth control.
