         the  male  can’t  help  but  SWOON  ,  a  hand  going  to  pat  maddie’s  head  as  a  soft  smile  is  put  on  display.  his  chest  feels  warm  ,  even  doing  so  much  as  rub  a  hand  over  the  spot  where  his  heart  pounds  behind  while  leaning  in  closer.  ‘’  see  …  i  got  it  all  planned  out  today.  knew  all  that  would  do  the  trick.  ’’  he’s  TEASING  ,  in  good  spirits  as  his  thumbs  run  across  her  cheeks  with  much  care  and  love.  

        ‘‘  what  else  could  the  reason  be  ?  ’’  a  toothy  grin  happens  right  before  their  lips  meet  in  a  sweet  kiss.  this  might  just  be  his  favorite  thing  to  do  ;  kissing  maddie  wherever  and  whenever  the  male  pleases  to  do  so.  even  here  in  the  cold  ,  his  fingertips  turned  red  and  cheeks  painted  a  color  matching  to  his  hair  dye  ,  maddie  is  the  warmth  ,  the  sun  and  just  about  everything  that  makes  eden  feel  right  at  HOME.  ‘‘  c’mon  ——  should  i  give  you  a  piggy  ride  or  something  ?  will  that  actually  make  you  move  from  your  place  ?  ’’

   *   🌺      the gentleness coming from eden was so   precious   it had the brunette giddy on her seat;   with cheeks flushed a light crimson,   lips stretching into a bigger smile at the sound of his teasing,   fingertips lightly moving across the knuckles she liked to kiss every now and then,   madison was   in the clouds   like she has always been ever since the day they got together.  

      actually,   she knew that was a lie!   because eden has always been her   little piece of heaven   through their journey as friends only---   now he was nothing but   heaven   itself every time they did something as simple as holding hands while on their way to their next destination.   and currently,   with their lips pressing together into a sweet kiss,   she was obviously in heaven. 

      she giggled at the end of his question,   looking up to him as she started to consider her options while looking up to the cloud above them.   “   wow,   suddenly i can’t walk because i twisted my ankle.   ”   maddie replied,   sticking her tongue out.   “   maybe a piggy back ride will help me,   do you agree?   let’s go,   let’s go,   chop chop.   ”   out of enthusiasm she jumps up from her seat,   moving to stand on top of the little bench before she takes a moment to think about the contradiction she has made!   “   don’t question how i am standing,   okay?   ”   maddie said with a raised finger,   giving him a slow nod before doing grabby hands.

       abhorrence  radiates  from  the  expressions  he  passes  by  ,  much  to  be  expected  by  his  pale  features  and  the  soiled  shoes  in  his  white  -  knuckled  fist  .  nevertheless  ,  he  finds  his  way  into  the  bathroom   —–    oh  ,  how  he  wishes  he  could’ve  done  so  just  5  minutes  ago  and  perhaps  this  could’ve  all  been  avoided  .  immediately  he’s  hunched  over  the  closest  available  sink  ,  dry  heaving  before  desperately  trying  to  wash  out  his  mouth  with  the  stream  of  water  .  he  hardly  gets  the  results  he  wants  ,  throat  still  feeling  rather  prickly  but  he  decides  to  prioritize  annie’s  shoes  first  .  he  doesn’t  know  if  it’ll  help  but  he  finds  himself  pumping  out  some  of  the  hand  soap  ,  lathering  the  straps  of  the  shoes  ,  focusing  on  the  problem  areas  .  he  can  feel  judgmental  stares  in  his  direction  from  other  clubgoers  that  are  making  their  way  in  and  out  of  the  stalls  and  it’s  taking  every  ounce  of  his  energy  to  focus  on  the  task  at  hand  .  he  doesn’t  know  how  many  minutes  pass  before  he’s  taking  probably  way  too  many  paper  towels  from  the  dispenser  ,  clearing  his  throat  as  he  places  the  shoes  aside  on  the  countertop  to  properly  wash  his  own  hands  now  .  he  has  to  blink  a  few  times  to  clear  up  his  blurred  vision  (  contacts  are  starting  to  dry  up  ,  great  )   and  he’ll  finally  charge  his  way  back  out  into  the  main  area  where  he  left  annie  waiting  .  his  eyes  find  her  within  seconds   ;   that  kind  of   beauty   is  hard  to  miss  .   “   h  -  hey  ,   ”   he  sputters  out  ,   “   your  shoes  .   ”   he  simply  lets  them  fall  beside  her  feet  ,  awkwardly  running  his  still  -  damp  fingers  through  his  hair  .    “   really  sorry  about  that  ,  ann  .   ”

   *   🌺      the lack of glances thrown her way are very much appreciated to annie--   because with such nervousness going through her veins at the mere thought of seeing and talking to him   (   even if said talk only lasted a minute   )   again,   she probably didn’t look the best under the club’s dim lights.   she’s looking at absolutely nothing as she continues waiting for his return,   dainty hands toying with each other as they laid on her lap.   anastasia didn’t even blink when the waiter came back with a bottle of water for her----   actually,   she didn’t even notice until her gaze slowly moved towards the table’s direction when she thought someone was calling out for her.         and maybe it was okay that no one was calling out for her,   because once she heard him speak through the loud music,   it was like everything else had been blocked out.   annie turns her attention to him,   an awkward simper appearing upon her face before granting him with a nod at the sight of her clean shoes,   moving downwards to slip them on---   but not before straightening her posture and quickly grabbing the water bottle,   handing it to him as if her life depended on it.   “   please drink this.   ”   she blurted out loud,   even sounding stern as she waited for him to take it.   “   and it’s okay,   they are clean.   are you okay?   ”

         ‘‘  YOU’LL  JUST  HAVE  TO  ACCEPT  IT.  ’’  eden  grabs  the  female’s  hand  and  lowers  it  from  his  hair  ,  intertwining  their  fingers  instead  as  a  little  smirk  plays  on  his  face.  in  all  honesty  ,  the  dye  had  gone  wrong  and  it  wasn’t  supposed  to  be  this  bright  of  a  pink  ,  but  he  was  already  late  for  their  date  and  it  was  valentine’s  day.  he  couldn’t  afford  making  (m)any  mistakes  and  maybe  maddie  would  like  it.  he  squints  ,  leaning  in  closer.  ‘‘  it  fits  today’s  holiday  too  …  and  i  got  you  chocolates.  two  movie  tickets.  it’s  impossible  to  get  mad  at  me.  ’’

        the  longer  they  sit  on  the  little  bench  ,  the  more  snowflakes  gather  in  his  girlfriend’s  hair.  he’s  already  busy  plucking  them  out  ,  until  his  cold  hand  meets  her  warm  cheek.  ‘’  we  should  probably  go  if  we  don’t  wanna  miss  the  trailers  before  the  movie.  they’re  my  favorite  part.  ’’

    *   🌺      "   huh?   mad?   ”   she even sounds incredulous at the sound of something so silly,   enamored eyes finally looking away from pinkish locks to grant eden with a brilliant response that resembled his own:   a squint.   but not before pressing a quick,   sweet peck on the tip of his nose.   that alone was enough to make her heart soar.   “   you’re silly.   don’t you see the imaginary hearts dancing all over my head right now?   ”   she just couldn’t help but chirp with a silly grin on her face,   moving her free hand to place it on top of their interwined hands.   “   and i like chocolates.   and movies.   and you,   so yeah,   it is impossible to get mad at you today.   ”          and she would have carried on with her speech if she didn’t just melt into his touch.   the coldness within his hand bringing so much comfort to her presence that it led maddie to close her eyes and lean into his touch.   “   mm,   the trailers are your favorite part?   why’s that?   to take advantage of it and kiss me through it all?   ”   her giggle was so soft she even wondered if he heard it,   fluttering an eye open to look up at him and giggle.   “   i mean,   i would absolutely do that to you unless you actually have a reason on why you like them.   ”

       an  absolute   trainwreck   ,   he  almost  can’t  blame  these  strangers  for  staring  .   his  cheeks  are  burning  with  humiliation  ,  surely  painted  scarlet  by  now  .     “   okay  .  yeah  .  i’ll   —–   ”    he  holds  onto  his  breath  as  he  takes  her  shoes  from  her  ,  eyes  darting  around  their  surroundings  as  he  tries  to  find  the  quickest  way  to  the  restroom  .  but  when  she  continues  to  speak  ,  he  stops  in  his  tracks   —-    was  she  seriously  trying  to  help  him  right  now  ?  god  ,  that  was  so  typical  of  her    —–    he  almost  wanted  to  scold  her  for  being  so  nice  ,  knowing  damn  well  he  was  possibly  the  last  one  to  deserve  her  kindness  .     “   no  ,  no  ,   i’m  good   …   thanks  ,  though  .   ”     posture  stiffens  when  his  eyes  meet  hers  accidentally  ,  he  finds  himself  clearing  his  throat  as  he  nods  .   “   go   …   find  somewhere  to  sit  or  something  ?  i’ll   ,  uh  .  bring  these  back  to  you  as  soon  as  i   —–   ”    bile  threatens  to  rise  again  and  he  cuts  himself  off   ,   eyes  widening  as  he  fails  to  excuse  himself  ,  not  wanting  to  risk  hesitating  and  repeating  the  horrific  incident  all  over  again  .  he  holds  up  his  index  finger  for  a  split  second  before  he’s  rushing  down  the  hall  until  he’s  finally  reached  the  door  that’ll  lead  him  to  the  bathroom  ,  the  straps  of her  shoes  tight  within  his  grasp  .

    *   🌺      maybe she didn’t notice the way his posture changed when their eyes met,   but her own reaction was rather identical.   although her posture was as perfect as a ballerina’s prose,   annie’s entire body stiffened for the second time of the night,   hands that have been toying with themselves   (   a nervous tick that she was sure he could have picked if he was paying attention   )   stopping as she listened to him speak.   the music was so goddamn loud minutes ago,   how was it possible that quinn’s presence alone was the only thing she could focus and hear?   porcelain features remain soft despite of the humilliation---   the worry she was experiencing while looking at him,   the anxiety coursing through her veins,   only allowing herself to scrunch her nose a little when she figured the reason his eyes went wide,   watching him rush away from his former spot to,   what she figured,   the bathroom.        and what else was she supposed to do now?   sit down and wait for him,   of course,   annie thought as she started to tip toe to the nearest seat carefully,   ignoring everyone’s confused or pity glances as the brunette finally sits down and waits for him to come back patiently.   or maybe she wasn’t as patient because she wanted her shoes back---   and she wanted to make sure he was okay,   too.   and with that thought in mind,   annie looks around to ask a rando if they could bring her some water that was obviously for him.

        there’s  nothing  he  would  like  more  than  to  dissolve  ,  and  under  the  weight  of  her  gaze  it  almost  feels  like  he  could    —–    “   m’fine  ,    ”   mumbled  ,  jaw  tight  around  the  syllables  because  he’s  scared  if  he  opens  his  mouth  too  much  there  will  be  another  mishap  .  “   i  just  need    —–    ”    parched  throat  begs  for  water  ,  but  the  words  never  come  out  as  he’s  distracted  by  watching  annie  ridding  the  now  ruined  pair  of  shoes  from  her  feet  and  there’s  an  apology  written  in  his  eyes  as  he  looks  up  toward  her  from  his  doubled  over  position  .   he  winces  as  he  straightens  up  his  posture  ,  back  of  his  wrist  wiping  at  his  mouth  .  it’s  only  then  that  he  notices  they’ve  attracted  the  attention  of  onlookers  ,  which  only  makes  matters   worse  .  he  gulps  ,  which  feels  like  he’s  swallowing  needles  ,  staring  blankly  at  annie  as  he  tries  to  speak  ,  though  the  anxiety  her  presence  brings  makes  it  extremely  difficult  to  process  any  of  his  racing  thoughts  .   “   uh   ,   i  can    —–    i  can  wash  those  for  you  .  are  they  washable  ?  i   —-    ”    his  head  is  spinning  ,  pounding  ,  chest  feels  like  it’s  on  fire  .   “   i  was  on  my  way  to   —-   the  bathroom  ,  i  can  just  take  ‘em  with  me  …    ” 

     *   🌺      nimble fingertips felt numb as she worked on the strap of her shoes silently,   untying them awkwardly for numerous reasons:   one,   she couldn’t bend without her short dress riding up her bottom.   two,   she was trying her absolute best not to touch anything as she slowly slipped them off her feet,   moving slowly as she proceed to stand on her tip toes.  and three...   quinnquinnquinnquinnquinn.   annie proceed to close her eyes for a moment,   carefully picking up the shoes by the strap to pull them from the ground.   unfortuantely,   the brunette was a believer of the close-your-eyes-to-make-your-problems-disappear saying----    a little something that she has been carrying ever since she was a little kid,   a little something that was not logical in the slightest and she knew that.   and yet,   doe eyes flutter open hoping to see and hear literally anyone but him.           her luck wasn’t on her side,   obviously,   but then again,   hearing him speak felt like a little piece of heaven.        “   ah,   ”   annie mumbled,   finding her lack of words frustrating as she continued to stand on her tip toes,   totally ignoring the couple glances thrown their way.   “   yeah,   you are going to wash them for me.   ”    she said,   voice and features soft compared to her rather bitter words as she handed him the shoes.   “   but,   um,   do you need water first?   i can get you a bottle,   or at least ask someone to bring you a bottle since i can’t walk around on my tip toes.   ”

         heavy  -  lidded  gaze  keeps  him  from  seeing  straight  ,  body  lacking  the  equilibrium  to  practice  any  proper  poise   ;   wading  through  the  crowd  with  a   desperation   to  reach  the  exit  ,  the  bathroom  ,  anywhere  to  relieve  the  nausea  that’s  plaguing  his  system  now  .   “   fuck  ,  shit   —–    ”     is  muttered  upon  colliding  with  another  ,  the  impact  forceful  enough  to  send  him  stumbling  back  a  few  steps  ,  hand  clutching  at  his  abdomen  as  he  tries  to   suppress   the  acidic  uprise  in  his  gorge      —————-      he  fails  ,  contents  of  his  stomach  end  up  spewed  upon  the  unfortunate  stranger’s  shoes  .     “   oh  ,  fuck  ,  i’m  so  sorry   —–    ”    bloodshot  eyes  slowly  rake  over  the  figure  as  humiliation  blares  through  his  headspace  like  a  raging  siren  .  the  situation  alone  was  enough  to  cause  such  a  reaction  ,  but  as  his  vision  clarifies  an  all  too  familiar  set  of  features  ,  he’s  sure  he’s  bound  to  hurl  yet  again  .

      she stands frozen for what it seemed like minutes,   lithe body turning tense just as annoyance,   humiliation,   and every kind of negative emotion started to course through her body.   the grip on her drink was just as tight as the grip she was holding onto the stranger’s neck in her imagination,   a silly thought that was thought of   only   for the sake to keep herself composed as she slowly turned her attention to the poor soul before her to snark----   but words didn’t even bother to touch the tip of her tongue when her eyes finally focused on quinn’s face.   and maybe,   just maybe,   she was bound to hurl,   too.         “   oh.   ”   annie mumbled as she eyed him for a moment,   casually spilling her drink onto her shoes to,   at least,   get rid of some of the content over them---   and because she started to panic.   “   a---are you okay?   ”    she stuttered,   her free hand moving anxiously yet slowly over the strap of her heels to get rid of them,   doe eyes glued to his face despite of how much angst it brought to her heart.
