Dabarnak Extract67 Montréal’s latest Cannabis Expo is on this evening but unfortunately it is a sold out event. Happy this is the Third Dabarnak to be held in Montréal and I have been informed by the Organizer that there will be future event as these are becoming very favourable events. I am really looking forward to this event that is being held a stones throw from where I live. And its a wheelchair friendly event too.
Göran Strand captured an aurora over Sweden this week, but it wasn’t until he mirrored the image that things got interesting. Can you see the alien? How about the storm trooper? Both are examples of pareidolia. Mirrored image of the September 10 aurora by Göran Strand of Sweden. Göran Strand posted this (processed) photo to EarthSky Facebook this week, taken during the September 10, 2018 G2-class geomagnetic storm that sparked magnificent auroras over Earth’s northern latitudes. It’s an example of pareidolia, or seeing patterns in nature where, in reality, none exist. Goran wrote: We had a truly amazing northern light here in northern Sweden. I did a 180 degree panorama of the sky to capture the entire band stretching through zenith. While editing, I tried some different options to present the photo and suddenly when I mirrored the photo and put them side by side, I did see both something familiar but also something out of this world. When mirrored, the clouds and the northern lights at the top formed a face that looks like an alien, and at the bottom a storm trooper is clearly visible. https://ift.tt/13scsvL https://ift.tt/1yAp3YF http://twitter.com/Astrofotografen Thanks, Göran! — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2zyW8iA

Ancient Japanese wolf may be rare remnant of ice age wolves By Ann GibbonsSep. 25, 2018 , 10:50 AM JENA, GERMANY—On the island of Honshū in Japan, farmers long appreciated a small gray wolf as a guardian of their crops because its howls warned them of raiders such as wild boars. In folklore, “the Honshū wolf” was seen as a spirit of the forest and honored with shrines. But when the wolves got rabies from dogs in the 19th century, farmers shot and poisoned them until the last wolf died in 1905. Now, only a few stuffed Honshū wolves, like the one shown above, exist in museums. But they were indeed representatives of a wilder era, as graduate student Jonas Niemann of the University of Copenhagen found to his surprise. When he and his colleagues analyzed the genome of a Honshū wolf skeleton from the Natural History Museum in London, they found that this wolf appeared to be a relic of an ancient group of wolves that ranged across the Northern Hemisphere until 20,000 years ago. The wolf’s DNA more closely resembled that of a long-extinct wolf that lived in Siberia more than 35,000 years ago than that of living Eurasian and American wolves, Niemann reported here on Friday at the International Symposium on Biomolecular Archaeology. Most ancient wolves went extinct when the ice sheets that covered the Northern Hemisphere began to melt more than 20,000 years ago and the large mammals the wolves hunted, such as mammoth, died off. But some of their DNA lived on in the Honshū wolf, which could offer a new window on the evolution of wolves as well as dogs, says paleogeneticist Mikkel Sinding of the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources in Nuuk, who extracted the DNA. Now You Can Get High in the Deepest Place on Earth: The Mariana Trench! Just kidding. The intensely pressurized atmospheric cocktail inside your bathyscaphe probably precludes sparking one up. But still, the thought alone brought smiles to our faces Friday, after news that recreational cannabis legalization has spread to the US territory of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. On Friday, Republican Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres signed a law making the Northern Mariana Islands the first place in the US to legalize cannabis sales through its legislature, not a popular vote. The white area on the right is due to sunlight Japan's space agency (JAXA) has made history by successfully landing two robotic explorers on the surface of an asteroid. The two small "rovers", which were despatched from the Hayabusa-2 spacecraft on Friday, will move around the 1km-wide space rock known as Ryugu. The asteroid's low gravity means they can hop across it, capturing temperatures and images of the surface. "Both rovers are in good condition," the agency confirmed on Saturday. Update Instagram's Terms of Service to Include the Cannabis Community Petition and complete story at this link: Cannabess Byers a lancé cette pétition adressée à Instagram et à 1 autre On Instagram’s release date October 6, 2010, only five states allowed medical cannabis consumption. As we approach Instagram’s eighth birthday, laws are changing. Currently nine states and the District of Columbia have legalized recreational cannabis, and 30 states allow medicinal use. But it’s not just the US, legalization has gone global. On July 1, 2018, Canada became the first G7 country to pass nationwide recreational laws. Even Mexico, Belize, Jamaica, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, Belgium, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Israel, Croatia, The Czech Republic and Australia have all passed medical, small possession or decriminalization legislation. It seems the only place legalization is not happening, is on Instagram. — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2QUlRsc
