A HAPPY, WET POEM
my dream is a lake house/ perchance perfect private swimming hole/ and we will be up to our ears in the water/ no need for speech but the crisp wet will/ seep through the cracks in our smiles/ but we will not drown— in our tenderness/ we remain buoyant. in your hazel eyes i see the warm wood/ home reflected in the gaze that meets mine/ blue sky blue lake blue/ the moon’s gentle pull will keep this lake from getting stagnant/ our body our bodies of water/ will drift together. clammy we climb to mossy shore/ the wind on our skin reminding us of the wet/ that was and is; the gentle pull of the moon on our skin/ we will lie on the warm wood, terry cloth swaddled/ and in the lake house dream.
