@superchristina
what a fucking power move
It’s just a movie 🙄
We are multiple generations now with no experience with strikes, and I see a lot of confused, well meaning people who want to help but don’t know strike etiquette.
1. Never cross a picket line of striking workers.
2. Never purchase or take free goods from a company who’s workers are striking
3. Honk to support strikers if you drive by a picket line.
4. Join strikers on the picket line even if it’s not your strike, but follow their directions and defer to them while there.
5. Say “that’s great, the strike is working, the company should negotiate with their workers” whenever someone complains about profits lost, inconveniences or other worker-phobic rhetoric. Always turn it back on the company, who has all the power and money.
UBER + LYFT ARE STRIKING IN SOME CITIES ON MAY 8th! RESPECT THIS AND REFUSE TO TAKE EITHER ONE ANYWHERE. NOWHERE. NO, NOT EVEN IF YOU TIP EXTRA. THAT STILL COUNTS AS A PICKET LINE.
The mashup you never thought would work
Congratu-fucking-lations.
I would pay so much to have this as a ringtone I’m not even joking.
Why?????
The face I made while listening to this was so visceral I had to draw it before reblogging it
@sillygooseface TORI I’M CRYING PLEASE LISTEN
Well. That was indeed a thing that happened.

(Would’ve been better with a different version of POTO but it’s irrevocably stuck in my head so…eh.)
Holy shit.
I almost scrolled past but I bottomed out at ^ picture.
The judging face… that phantom stance, I was helpless.
Wolves React To Gamekeeper Who Had Been Away On Maternity Leave
“WHERE’S YOUR PUPPY! WE WANNA SEE YOUR PUPPY! DID YOU JUST HAVE THE ONE? DO YOU HAVE THEM WITH YOU? ARE THERE PHOTOS?”
I’m not a hundred percent positive but I’m pretty sure this is the wild life center where I visited wolves.
And the safety briefing included the question “So if you’re pregnant, do you want to know or not?”
Turns out there had been a bit of an awkward situation once where the keepers had casually mentioned a woman’s pregnancy in a group, and she herself didn’t even know yet. Turns out the wolves are excellent at telling if you’re pregnant and the keepers can tell based on their body language. They get all odd and careful around pregnancy. (Even wolves knows that you have to take care of pregnant people.)
So they definitely knew she was pregnant.
And if I remember my BBC documentaries right, a wolf will leave the pack to give birth and introduce the cubs to the pack once she feels ready for it. And maternity leave is flexible but often around 6 months so they’re going “YOU WERE GONE FOREVER! WE WERE SO WORRIED! WHERE ARE THE CUBS?? WE HAVE TO GREET THE CUBS!!“
Also the two on her back are fighting over who gets to greet her first. Giving and receiving attention is a commodity that goes by hierarchy and if you don’t accept that there will be scuffles.. The wolf lying down next to her isn’t chill about her coming back, it’s just submissive to the other wolves and waiting for it’s turn to show excitement.
Now I can see why we domesticated these adorable jerks.
Wolf packs have maternity leave?
Wolves: better than American companies.
white women are always like “more strong kickass female leads!” and when i say i want to see a black female love interest who is allowed to be girly and fall in love they give me weird looks and say that i’m supporting gender stereotypes and heteronormativity but what a lot of white women don’t get is that black women we’ve had hundreds of years of having our femininity ripped from us, of being deemed unworthy of male (especially non-black male) attention. black women in media are never allowed to be the “cute” ones or the love interest, we’ve always been the “strong kickass street smart woman” trope that white women want so badly. so basically if a black girl says she wants to see another black girl fulfill the role of “love interest” there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that and it isn’t a hindrance to feminism
never mind Byronic heroes where are my Keatsian heroes?!!! enough of men standing around posing on cliffs, more men wandering through the woods hoping to get topped by an ethereal woman who can kill you if she feels like it!!!
So... Hozier.
When foxes discovered the fairy penguins living on Middle Island off the coast of Australia, their numbers were decimated. The population plummeted from 800 birds to fewer than ten in 2005. A local chicken farmer had the idea to station two sheepdogs on the island to chase off the foxes – and it worked. The fairy penguin population on Middle Island is now at 250 and climbing. (x)

Not to shit on Ben Wyatt, but Padme was queen of Naboo at 14 years old, and she didn’t blow the planet’s budget on a winter sports complex.

victor hugo failed in his duty to visit a psychic before writing it who would have warned him that 150 years in the future his decision to include nine shippable twinks as minor characters in his magnum opus would lead to the development of one of the most insufferable fandoms of the twenty first century
Pro-tip for anyone applying for a librarian assistant position (or any other library job that doesn’t require an MLS) who has never worked in a library before—
Don’t talk up how much you love books or reading or “calm, quiet environments”
Do talk up ANY customer service experience you have, especially in chaotic environments that required multitasking. Also mention volunteering or anything to show that you like helping people.
I’ve been an interviewer for quite a few Library positions and what we always look for is people who both
Have customer service experience
Still genuinely care about other people despite that
Working in a library is about serving the public all day and holding onto compassion for your community even when things are busy and chaotic and people are rude or downright scary.
It’s one of the reasons leftist activists make great librarians.
You have to be able to work with people and believe that people are fundamentally worth supporting and collaborating with to build and strengthen community. There’s no room for misanthropy- you need to radically care about people.
