The Well- The Crane Wives
Indie folk band from MICHIGAN ✋. Hello from the mitten state!
This is a list of some songs in my life is strange playlist
Fjara by sólstafir
Their most popular song on Spotify. This icelandic post-metal band has been around since 1995 and was originally black metal. This album is from 2014. I also enjoy some songs from Ótta (2014) and their latest album Hin helga kvöl (2024)
This song is also in a playlist I made called “the life is strange phase” on Spotify. (I still don’t know if it fits or not) It has songs from the video game soundtrack and others I’ve added. So if you like indie or folk music here you go.
Ocean bed by darlingside
From the album Fish Pond Fish. They are a four person indie/baroque folk band from Boston. This song really reminds me of summer camp and road trips I’ve taken. So very nostalgic for me in a way. Kinda fitting my vibe lately with all the nature trail videos I’ve been watching.
Vulcan (2000)
By Snake river conspiracy. Sonic jihad is their only album but the singer, Tobey Torres-Doran is still making music with her husband as Mojave phone booth. Snake river conspiracy is industrial rock while their current music is electronic.
A band that I think needs more attention is Cat’s Cradle. The band not the music venue in North Carolina.
These guys are from Scotland 🏴
I found them on Spotify but they are also on bandcamp. My two favorites are 44 and crazy evil
Kill me- baby blue (2020)
A single by the band Dead Soft. For me the guitar riff adds a dreamlike feel. It’s difficult to describe but I enjoy this song. They’re a 3 persons band from Vancouver. Their bio on Spotify says rock n roll, but also indie/alternative on google.
For the past few years I’ve been researching and trying to connect to Finnish culture. Since my great grandparents did not share much of theirs.
I’ve been listening and building a playlist of Finnish artist. I may share it once I’ve gathered more music.
My favorite Finnish band I’ve found is KUUMAA
Here’s one of my favorite songs from their album Hyvikset ja pahikset. I have no idea what that means and I don’t trust google translate to tell me.
I tried to post daily but then I forgot
Here’s stormor by sigur rós.
I found this one from the movie The Snowman. It was pretty good. Micheal fastbender is in it if you like him.
I’m not gonna add extra info for some of these because I’m on either my phone or laptop. Also this artist has a a lot of info in their Spotify bio.
Immortal
Thy Slaughter is a project by A.G. Cook, Finn Keane, and Caroline Polachek. Immortal is from their only album Soft Rock (2023).
Without Me
Making a 3rd post today cause I can't remember how many I missed. Without Me reminds me a bit of wasteland by Against The Current. This album by Dayseeker has another good song I recommend, the same name as the album itself, Dark Sun. I also looked at their merch on their site and they have an EYESHADOW PALLETE!? First time I've ever seen a band sell that but cool.
In the Kitchen
Mree is an indie singer-songwriter from Oregon. The song itself is filled with wonder. Mree's voice is almost delicate and from my own interpretation, the song is about finding yourself and nostalgia for home. The annotations on Genius kind of corroborate that. The song makes me think of porcelain plates with blue paint (apparently called delfware).
Mree is a self-producing experimental dream-folk artist based in Portland, OR.
My Ego Dies At The End
Jensen McRae's music is described as a blend of genres. Her beautiful voice really resonates with her own writing. I would read her Wikipedia page as it gives more details on her career.
Chevelle
Illinois rock band started by 2 brothers. Their last album NIRATIAS was released in 2021. A lot of their songs are good but Revenge is definitely one of my favs.
You'll Never Get to Heaven
A Canadian Indie band with soft vocals and a dreamlike sound. I recommend listening to Exquisite Tension and Caught In Time, So Far Away
