Cause of Death: Asphyxiation (Drowning)

Notes: A sense of deja vu~. -Never

Once you get a good look at the notes, committed them to memory and whatnot, the screen flickers and changes. Oh. How odd. Usually their up until the end of investigation, but this time, Julia’s face returns. It’s been a while since you’ve seen her. She wears a weary smile, but it’s obvious it’s not a happy smile. 

“It’s been a while since I’ve spoken to you all. Forgive me. I hold an announcement. Well… sorta, it’s… not an official one from Never… it’s my own. Before you guys go investigate… can… can we take a moment to remember the fallen? Especially Higanbana, since she’s the most recent… um… I’m sorry if this is impromptu… but this is my final announcement I’m going to be making. I am no longer of use now that the game is coming to a close. I’m being taken apart so to speak.”

“S-So. If you could. Just appease me and honor all of the fallen. Nobody deserved to die. Not even the murderers. I’m sorry my gameshow got taken over by the Mastermind and Never.”

She sighs. 

“Now go and solve Higanbana’s death. It’s the most important of all these deaths. It’s absolutely the most important. It’s… ah… just, please, try your best. And thank you all for trying your best. I am so, so proud of you. G…Goodnight, Houseguests.”

And the screen returns to the Big Brother File. How strange!

Will I, | Chapter 5 Murder

I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy any of this. Just because I felt some heartache doesn’t mean I’m less of a monster. Ha~ Ha~ Ha~

We have so much in common, don’t we _____?

A little heartache, a little doubt in the world, but wont break our minds that lean towards darker deeds- and no, I won’t let you back out now.

Who would accept you after this? Absolutely nobody? Correct~! I’m sorry for overpowering what you wanted. Your motive, so to speak.

Though I suppose that could be your despair, couldn’t it? You never truly got to be in the lead. Yet, you’ll still be punished for having this idea in the first place.

Hee, hee, hee… sometimes the world is so cruel. We adults just aren’t fair, are we? Well, at least you….. [CONNECTION LOST]

Words of the One Watching, Big Brother. End of transmissions.

The familiar bell tolls. You are called to the pool room once again, as you did last week, and the Big Brother flashes upon the screen the usual announcements are shown upon as usual. It seems there is another murder, strange you think. Well, actually. Is it that strange to think about? The stakes were high this time around, but the mood was not. Everybody is drained. Everybody is tired.

You’re just trying to drag yourself through this at this point. Yet there is such mystery still swirling around this place, not just around the Mastermind and their plot, but around Never herself…

But for now, you leave these thoughts behind.

It’s the final investigation.

Curtain Call | Juliabot | Motive Part 2

Juliabot twirls, and twirls, jeez she does that a lot. When she’s done being cheery and happy, she points at you all in a sweeping motion. She’s really hamming it up this time!

“The mo-tive iiiiis….~! Super duper ultra special! It’s the ultimate test! The best motive out there! A mind teaser- something to make you think! Feel! Contemplate one’s value for others, and self sacrifice and such. Tell me guys- do you know the saying? The needs of the many outweigh the few? Well…”

She sets her mic down, and pats her thighs quickly to act as a drumroll for herself. When she’s done, she stands up straight again like a cheerleader.

“The motive is! If one of you doesn’t kill, absolutely everybody in this house dies. Ev-er-y-bo-dy! Except Never-chan, of course~! Hows that for dramatic, ne, ne? Gee, the thought of this motive just gets my motors going… if somebody doesn’t kill… everybody in this house dies… even the kids upstairs~! Hoo haa~! So dramatic.”

She laughs, picking up her mic again, making her way to the lockdown room with a smooth stride.

“Tata~! Make good use of this motive, dearies~!”

Showtime | Juliabot | Motive Part 1

Ding dong dang dong! You’re called to the living room once again. Instead of Julia popping up on the screen, it’s Juliabot! There is a wide array of delicious foods and drinks set out nicely in baskets on the couch- even some champagne and wine for you legal kids! It’s almost as if this was a whole nice event. Juliabot is vibrating with excitement, giggling to herself with an inexplicable joy! Oh, this is just weird for what you assume is the motive announcement. You gather to where she is, and listen to her speak.

“Uwah! This is your final days here, everybody! It’s time to celebrate with food and drink! Before I announce the motive, that is. It’s so much fun! No voting required, no nothing… we just tell it to you! Oh, I hope something fun comes out of it! But first, lets celebrate!”

You don’t seem to have any choice. If you just stand there, Juliabot just stares, waiting for you to take at least something to eat or drink. There is light, cheery music in the background, the voice of a cheery female girl. Must be some idol. It really clashes with the dreary mood of the place.

Once everybody has taken something just to appease her, she continues on.

Going upstairs, there is a lot for you to look at. You weren’t expecting to see this, though. Truly, a sight to see (a horrible one). This room smells like ozone and blood…

Time of Death: 3:19 AM

Location: Pool Room

Cause of Death: Exsanguination

Notes: “You may investigate this if you wish. This death is a punishment death. This will not however, be brought up in trial. You do however, get to investigate upstairs now. Now there is no point in hiding what’s up there, if Wakana has seen it. And we all know death doesn’t mean death here. So have at it, subjects. Tear apart the place. -Never.”

What? Punishment death? What’s happening? Was Wakana killed for breaking the rules? That seems to be the case. But now that she’s dead, apparently you get to investigate something now? What could be up there that is so interesting? All you know is that you should be thanking Wakana for this sacrifice. Without her, for all you know, you would never get to go upstairs and understand what’s happening a little more.

“Yes… Wakana has died for breaking the rules. She went upstairs. She saw something she should have. But since Never fiddles with your dead bodies- she knew it would be no point to hide what is up there anymore. She’s awfully frustrated with this outcome, yes. But she is allowing you all to investigate at least, for the sacrifice she’s taken. So please… thank Wakana. And… if you want to still investigate her… that is fine too…”

How horrible… Never… is truly a cruel being. But, when you’re ready, upstairs is ready to look around.

Sweet Tune | Event

Everybody is an infidel. None of them recognize me? I guess people just don’t know the true meaning of worship anymore. Love me, love me, love me…

And yet I see a mouse in my trap.  Punishment is extermination. Ah… now I have to share.

Words of the One Watching, Big Brother.

You wake up to something unusual. Alarms, rather than the voice of Julia. The alarms wail, and you can hear the angry stomping and furious voice of the familiar Never. She seems to be yelling, shouting, with a livid tone. The alarms are hazy, and you feel dizzy. The alarms sound sort of distant, as if you’re still to far into you rest that you can’t fully experience the moment. You hear faint pops, but they fade into black as you pass back out. This is perhaps a nightmare?

No, you think, as you reawaken to Julia’s voice. As, that’s the normal. Normal? Disgusting how you can used that word for this. She calls you to the living room as per the usual. You aren’t sure if this is death, or just an announcement. But, Julia answers you very soon.

You find a little plate with a triangular slice of cake on it. The cake itself is vanilla, with caramel icing! But the most interesting bit is the top - written in dark chocolate icing is "Sorry."

She had spent the last… however long dissociating and losing herself beyond belief. Cold, cold, cold, someone died, died, died, and then people were arguing and yelling and it was all over.

And so two more lives were lost, and people were upset, but she couldn’t shake the impending feelings of sadness, emptiness, a hug that was too cold, too tight, too dangerous.

Even her petite body felt useless! She was almost too weak to move, having not eaten since it wasn’t her best interest.

Maybe it was a good thing she saw the plate.

“S- sorry? For what…?”

“Isn’t it so great, to have an equal chance to talk? What a pity, that yet another person who Never-sama liked is dead. Maybe it’s a tradition! Now, I’m not going to try stopping you from making deals with her, but you know what happens! And who knows, you might see more about this place.”

She grins at all of you, ushering you out the room as she continues speaking.·

“Slowly, the temperature is going down. Not quite as bad as last time, but it was still enough for someone to assault Unbriel. Indeed, you managed to keep everyone from having no heat. How does it feel, knowing you were doing it for yourself? How does it make you feel, turning and lying to your friends just to keep someone free, kyahahaha. Will you be as willing for other motive, to line up for the sake of the people you’ve known here for only a short time? Kyaa, before that, you get your prizes!”

“Goodnight, houseguests.”

At Last I See The Light- Wait, wrong movie- | Juliabot | Vote Count

Juliabot smiles, the votes slowly being sent and travelling into her database wirelessly for counting. She sways siiide, to siiide, humming a distant tune that seems a little familiar. It’s girl, and sweet. But you just can’t put your finger on it. Seems very J-Pop. Once Juliabot is done stalling for dramatic effect, she raises that microphone of hers, exclaiming in a loud and proud voice-

“The vooootes are in! It was nearly a tie! Until one more vote came in! Wowsa! And… the one who get’s to DIE DIE DIE DIE DIEEEEEE-E-E-E-E is…! Eri-chan! Ding ding ding, you are correct! But, Ru Hui suuure put up a fight~! Ah, this was so invigorating to watch!”

Julia pressed her hand to her cheek.

“But I’ll tell ya now that Never probably despises the soap opera you live! So dramatic… tears here, anger there… it’s so repetitive! Where’s the variation? It was so… fun in the beginning! But now… you’re all… absolutely worthless. Or, I think that’s what she’d think~!”

Something about how similar she is to Never, makes you think that Juliabot’s assumptions are truth. With that, the execution process begins once more!

Experiment 3: Tranquillamente Bruciare | Eri | Execution

This is the way it’s supposed to be. Despite everything, Eri is filled with nothing but relief when the announcement is made. There’s no sense of despair washing over her, or dread…

Just… relief, for all of this to finally be over.

Gently, she pats Nayeli’s head and removes her arm from the dancer’s grip, smiling weakly all the while. After hesitating for a moment, Eri glances over her shoulder at Ru Hui, who hates her, she knows, but even still, she feels a pang of remorse.

Reaching up to pat his hair is a somewhat familiar gesture, coupled with a watery smile and words far too quiet for anyone else to hear.

And then Never leads her off.
