Super High School Level Good Luck (Bad Luck?)

Naegi blew one of his bangs out of his face as he was walking back home. It had been an intense time at school, after he could finally retake classes and he felt a little weird inside. There was still some sort of awkward feeling about attending a school and he realized he had become a little claustrophobic. But that didn't stop him. He knew he had a path to walk and he would hold his head up high to reach the end of it.  

"Ow!" Perhaps too high... He wasn't looking ahead when he bumped into a street sign prohibiting access to a dark alley. It gave him the shivers. He had nothing to do there, so he continued to walk. That was until he noticed a figure move at the end of the path. It wasn't nigh time, so he ignored his gut a bit to check out if everything was okay. -Uhm...hello?- the silhouette seemed kind of familiar, but he thought it would be great coincidence if that was actually who he suspected.

“That’s great news!” The large eyebrow-ed boy beamed. It was always a relief to hear that his friends were doing okay. Even after everything they went through together, they were still the same people but stronger and more wise.

“Of course! Education is very important to me! I was even elected as head of the disciplinary committee again! It’s tough work and some of the others don’t like me, but at least I’m doing what I love!” A soft chuckle left his lips. In fact, some of the other boys had beat him up in his new school. It was better than being killed, that was for sure.

“No, I haven’t! I haven’t seen Togami or Hagakure for a long time! Are they around here someplace too?” Scarlet eyes widen, sparkling happily at the thought of seeing his friends again.

The shorter student was not surprised. He wouldn't have expected any less from the super-strict Ishimaru that had kept peace for a good while in the past events. He wondered where hall monitoring would lead him in life, tough.  An amused gesture of confusion took over Naegi as he imagined Kyotaka as a police officer, but then his shoulders dropped a bit when he imagined him giving jailtime instead of detention. 

"That's really good to hear. I haven't seen Togami or Hagakure either. Nor Fukawa or Asahino. I've only kept contact with Kirigiri, but not very frequently." He hadn't wondered about that, actually. None of the people he met attended the same school, as well as nobody did before they met.

“It’s going great! How’ve you been?” Mondo’s death had been really hard for him. The other boy had been so important to him, being his aniki and all. They’d hung out together quite a lot in Hope’s Peak and had normal conversations, which were usually quite difficult for the hall monitor. Then it was all torn apart when Mondo went and did something so terrible due to all the pressure from Monobear. Watching him on that motorcycle going round and round was still imprinted clearly into his mind. He didn’t think that he’d ever forget it. In fact, he didn’t think that he’d forget any of the deaths he’d seen.

Even today, days on from that time in Hope’s Peak, he still thought about Mondo when he went to sleep at night. Sometimes, he still cried about it. Despite this, he tried not to let his death affect him as much as it did back then. It was still horrible that he wasn’t here, but he had to move on. Besides, his aniki probably didn’t want him blubbering over him like some huge baby.

"I'm good myself." Enthusiasm filled his voice. It was good to talk to people he had gotten so close to. It was even better to see them do well; it reassured him that hoping for  the best was not a dumb thing to do. 

"S-so did you... continue your studies?" It was a bit of an awkward thing to ask but the situation in itself was very curious. Eventually, it would become inevitable to talk about the past, but maybe that wasn't an entirely bad thing. It would be a bit uncomfortable tho. 

"Have you met any of the other guys yet?".

“Naegi!” The sight of the familiar scruffy haired boy brought a large smile to his face. It had been quite a while since he’d last seen him around. In fact, the last day he’d seen him had been that day they had all escaped Hope’s Peak Academy.

Quickly, he walked over to him, his boots clacking against the ground with every step. “Good evening!” Of course, it would’ve been faster to run, but running was dangerous when it was this late. It was hard to see and there could be stuff that could be tripped over in his path.

"...Oh! Ishimaru" There was a pleased tho confused tone in his voice with a bit of relief. The first thing that came to his mind whenever he heard the monitor's tone was that he was going to be scolded unexpectedly for something probably done without intention; but it took only a pair of seconds to realize it was just a good old greeting. 

"Good evening yourself." A gentle, yet vivid smile accompanied his words, authentically wondering what had become of the super-strict hall monitor after those days. 

"How's it going?" It was sure refreshing to see him smile like that after the zombification he had gone through back in the academy. It was only natural that student would eventually come to terms with what had happened, but it still didn't feel like it was okay to touch the subject anytime soon. In fact; Naegi was better off avoiding it entirely if not necessary at all.
